R&R longer note at the end

Lightning sighed as the train pulled into the station of the wildlands, she stepped out the scent of grass and damp filling her nostrils as she shielded her eyes against the bright sunlight. Looking out at the green landscape of the grass and tree's a small smile played at her lips, this scenery made her for a moment forget that the world was coming to an end.

"See why I picked this place?" A sing song voice said next to her, she turned her head to the side looking down at the small figure of Lumina stood next to her smiling happily.

"You realise I don't have time for this" Lightning said as she began walking forward. Lumina's expression changed a little as she looked at the taller woman, she snapped her fingers appearing front of her.

"You're not being very nice again" Lumina said in a dangerous tone "you remember what I was able to do on the train. Imagine what I could do to this entire region?" Lightning glared but soon regained her composure, it seemed she held all the cards for now maybe it would be best for her to play along at least for now.

"Fine" Lightning said finally as Lumina's innocent smile returned. She slowly skipped her way back to Lightning standing next to her, looking up at her. Her heart beat a little faster the scent of Lightning's perfume filling her nostrils, this was her first date her first true interaction with the woman of her interests.

After a while of walking taking in the scenery of the wildlands the two found a small little farm which Lumina had insisted they pay a visit to. Reluctantly Lightning followed before she realised this maybe a good chance for her to gather some information on the area.

"This is such a nice place" Lumina said smiling as she looked around as inquisitive as any child, she hadn't spent much time here not really seeing a reason to visit here but now with Lightning it felt different it felt more fun. Lightning watched her closely, she had spent some time now trying to figure out what this girls true intention was. Spotting what appeared to be a shop Lightning headed to it asking some questions as Lumina wondered around examining everything.

"Here" Lightning said appearing behind Lumina as she watched the animals in the pen, Lumina turned around to see what the elder woman meant seeing a round red shaped object in her hand, she looked with interest before her eyes darted to Lightning's face curious on if this was a prank to pay her back for the train.

"It's called an apple, eat it" Lightning said taking another in her other hand taking a bite showing it wasn't dangerous. Lumina slowly took it taking a bite as the sweet taste filled her mouth, it was the first time she had eaten an apple, the first time she had eaten anything really. The sweet flavour filled her mouth as she swallowed slowly making its way down her throat, filling her stomach she smiled a genuine smile.

"It's so juicy and sweet" Lumina explained her voice containing the slightest tone of joy "It's my first time having one, I think this maybe my favourite food so far". Lightning watched her reaction thinking to herself, how could someone with this much joy and happiness over a simple apple be so dangerous. The two left the farm after buying a few more apples along with some other items, Lumina had now insisted that they go somewhere more quiet where they could be alone.

After a short walk they found themselves in the middle of a large field with a few trees dotted around, Lumina skipped toward one of the larger ones before stopping as she spotted herd of flans. Her eyes flashed red as the flans disappeared into nothingness as she then smiled again looking at Lightning.

"This will do" She said like nothing had happened, Lightning looked a little concerned but nodded in agreement walking over she pulled out the rug they had gotten from a shop at the farm laying it on the ground in the shade of the tree. After a few moments she had set up a picnic, a moment flashed through Lightning's mind a memory of her previous life when she had gone on a picnic with her sister Serah.

"This has been the perfect day don't you think?" Lumina asked curious as she sat on the rug smiling leaning her arms behind her relaxing.

"Apart from the time when you tried to kill me" Lightning said looking at the girl who seemed to have no cares in this dying world.

"Kill you?" Lumina asked tilting her head cutely as she looked over at the older woman "I was just testing you is all, making sure you were prepared. You were in no real danger I wouldn't let you die". Lightning stared at her not convinced as she sat down leaving a little distance between them, Lumina looked as she shifted her way over sitting right next to Lightning.

"Are you really that scared of me?" Lumina asked curiously "Just relax and enjoy yourself". Lightning sighed as she leaned into the basket grabbing some sandwiches handing one to Lumina, she was only hoping she could get back to her duty. Lumina smiled as she reached over taking it her fingertips brushing gently against Lightning's hand.

"Thank you" Lumina said as she felt her heart beat speed up a little from the sensation of Lightning's warm hand. Slowly raising the sandwich to her mouth she got the strong smell of cheese and meat, slowly she took a bite as an explosion of a strong savoury taste filled her mouth. It was different from the apple she had earlier the strong taste slid down her throat as she swallowed enjoying every moment of it.

Lightning watched her close the smile that appeared on her face as she finished her sandwich, maybe this wasn't such a bad way to spend some of her time after all. She thought about how much had changed since this all happened, how different the world was but it was moments like this that made her realised how important her mission would become.

As the two enjoyed their make shift picnic Lightning looked up noticing the clouds slowly rolling in covering the sun, she looked to her side as she spotted Lumina had begun to stand up stretching.

"Well thank you for today, this was fun" Lumina said smiling at her "Its time I took my leave however, don't worry too much though. We'll see each other again I promise you". Smiling mischievously Lumina leaned down stealing a quick peck on Lightning's cheek before disappearing into the chaos.

Nice long chapter of sweet moments for our little Lumina's very first date with the lovely Lightning, of course there will be many more. I was considering their first date being at Yusnaan but it felt like this would make for a better and cuter date, maybe the Yusnaan date will still happen a little later on
