OHP talks to RW about buying Scabbers, and he agrees, in return for a new wand, an owl, and a few galleons. They return to the Lovegood home. Harry finds out he brought Hermione's older soul back in time and it's now in the portrait. They meet a portrait of Harry who, like the portrait of Hermione, looks his adult age. YHG stuns OHP when his back is turned, and they use another ritual to give YHP control of his body again. Xeno Lovegood sends a Patronus to Deputy Headmistress McGonagall, saying that HP's family business ran late and won't be back until Sunday evening. Friday's COMC is skipped, therefore.

YHP wakes YHG up. He says he owes her two favours, one for rescuing him and her trouble with OHP. YHP passes on critical comments from OHP about the behaviour that young Hermione had the first time around which alienated the others at Hogwarts (and even earlier at primary school). Pandora Lovegood's portrait explains why studying blood magic is banned. They find out that the OHP in the portrait is using Voldemort's Horcrux, which was transferred to the portrait, as a soul.

YHP and YHG meet up with the Weasleys. They get Scabbers/Wormtail/Pettigrew, and Ron gets his owl, wand and galleons. They tell the Weasleys HG is going to get a cat, so Luna will take care of Scabbers, so he'll be near the Burrow. They say they want to observe him and figure out why a rat is living so long. They also ask Ron to pass on Ollivander's remark that the wand must choose the wizard to Neville, since Ron can tell him first-hand that an ill-suited wand isn't fun.
The first week was entirely successful, after a very rough start.
