Cryystal gasped. "EMILY! Look, there's no need to be upset because I just realised something! It wasn't the real ladybug! Well, as a kwami, I couldn't sense ladybug's normal… well… I'm not sure, but it was an evil aurora that I could feel. I don't know what is going on, but the ladybug that spoke to you was different… Tampered with.."
"Stop trying to make me feel better by lying!" Emily threw a pillow at the little kwami.
"Hey! EMILY! YOU LISTEN TO ME YOUNG GUARDIAN!"
"If I'm really a guardian, why are you answering back to me and acting like you have the rights of a human?" Emily glared coldly.
Cryystal's eyes widened.
"N-no, Cryystal, I didn't mean that, I- I don't know what got over me, I- I'm so sorry, I- I-"
"Ladybug was right. You are a terrible guardian," Cryystal whispered icily.
The two friends locked eyes for a moment, before Cryystal flew off. Out of the window and away.
The akuma that Hawk moth had sent to akumatise Emily was getting close to her. Suddenly, her mum came into the room.
"Hi sweetie! How was your day? Sorry I got back so late, there was a lot of traffic."
Emily smiles.
"What? AARGH!" Hawk moth shouted agitatedly. "The negative emotions… they're… GONE! Wait… what's going on? Why is the akuma going ou-" Hawk moth didn't need to finish his self-intended question. The villain and goose kwami locked eyes through their connection. Through the purple masks hovering above their faces. Their eyes were both wide and their mouths hanging open.
"A… KWAMI!? No! IMPOSSIBLE!" Hawk moth stuttered incredulously.
"Hawk moth!" the small voice growled.
"Hello, little kwami." Hawk moth grinned slyly.
"H-Hawk moth!?" She gasped.
"Yes, yes. I am Hawk moth."
"A-and you're trying to akumatised me, yes?"
"Urm, well, yes…"
"There is one slight problem."
"Hm?"
"I am a kwami."
"And…?"
"Well.. um…"
"Yes?"
"Kwamis have to obey their masters or mistresses. It's just against the nature of a kwami. If my owner tells me to stop, I have to. Like, something clicks inside me just forcing me to do it. You have a kwami, don't you Hawk moth? Do you think if they had free will, they would be doing what you said?" Cryystal inquired. "No, they'd just punch you in the face and fly off. They don't want to be a prisoner of your slavery."
Hawk moth looked down.
"Is that regret?" Cryystal thought. "Regret for treating his kwami badly?" Hawk moth seemed to hear that thought, so he said some sort of lame excuse.
"Ah, sorry about that, I was just- uh, wondering about something. So, although you know about this, and how you have to obey your mistress, you don't if she doesn't give you any orders, right? Like if she says 'why are you doing this' or 'I wish that you would stop', those aren't orders, aren't they? You have to be sneaky and find the loophole. Sounds like a plan?"
"Yes, Hawk moth!" Cryystal grinned. "sounds like a plan!"
