There was a scream of pain and then the wonderful thug once again the injured detective pulled out the bar that the latter had left exhausted from the effort made and pulled it out trying to get away from there albeit limping.
It's not possible, Jay thought.
Slowly with a superhuman effort and excruciating pain he also stood up and after checking the condition of Adam who was only fainted, he tried to follow him.
It was tiring, he wouldn't have held up much longer. He needed help.
He grabbed the radio and panted, surely having broken ribs that prevented him from breathing well:
- Here ... Detective Halstead ... the ... suspect is ... running away ... north to ... the park. I'm… chasing him… I need support and an ambulance, agent down, "Jay said with difficulty, forgetting to add his badge number as he always did.
- Got it, we're on our way, - replied Antonio.
The intelligence guys had taken the subjects they arrested to the cars, and Antonio and Atwater jumped into the car to join their partner.
After parking, as there was a cycle path in front of them, Antonio ran to catch up with Jay. It was easy to see where the two had gone. The detective or the boy or both were injured. There were bloodstains on the ground. Kevin instead walked towards Adam who was still lying on the ground and was slowly regaining consciousness. He then motioned to the ambulance, which had arrived a few minutes later.
Jay kept following the boy. Despite being injured, he was able to move quickly by hopping on one leg.
Detective Halstead was finding it harder and harder to keep up with him.
It was white as a sheet. It was his blood that spilled on the asphalt. He was losing a lot of it quickly.
At one point the boy stopped and looked around for a moment.
It was the perfect time to allow Halstead to get close and stop him once and for all when without the detective expecting it he went down. He had entered the city sewer pipes.
