A/N: I've been reading some of your guys reviews and I appreciate some of the feedback you've been giving, I'll also look into getting some things fixed in previous chapters if there's any grammar mistakes or anything that needs polishing but anyways here's chapter 4 hope you enjoy.
Chapter 4- fated encounter
The next day was about to begin, The sun was beginning to rise again, the sky was starting to turn blue, and in bed once again trying to oversleep was a boy named Natsuki Subaru...this time with a different setting
Subaru: "mhmm, is it morning already? Did I oversleep again?" Subaru said as he yawned stretching his arms outwards
Alec: "well well well, looks like sleeping beauty is finally awake, how was your sleep?"
Subaru: "it was alright, could have been bette- what are you doing in my bed!?"
When Subaru looked over beside him he saw Alec laying beside him in bed with his head resting in his palm. Alec looked at him with confusion
Alec: "your bed? If you didn't know your in my house at the moment, you really must have gotten completely knocked out yesterday"
Subaru then remembered what transpired the other day, him entering the village, his conversation with the village chief, then feeling that strange sensation before blacking out
Subaru: "Oh yea now I remember, I wanted to talk with the village chief about if he knew about Japan"
Alec: "unfortunately not even the village chief knows about this place called japan"
Subaru: "tch" Subaru started to grip the bed sheets tightly
Alec: "But he did say maybe one of those wise men down in the capital might be able to help you"
Subaru recalling what the old man said yesterday remembered him bringing up something about wise men in the capital might being able to know something about his homeland. Subaru suddenly got a spark of hope and jumped up from bed
Subaru: "That's right, maybe one of those people could help me out with finding japan, he said they knew a lot right?"
Alec: "That's true they are some of the smartest people in this country, they might know something about this place you're talking about, also you shouldn't jump up like that, you might want to rest your body a bit"
Subaru's legs then suddenly got weak and fell out of bed hitting his head on the floor
Subaru: "Ah! What was that? My body suddenly just gave out on me"
Alec: "Don't you remember from yesterday? You used your oni powers and brought out your horns, and from what I can tell from how your body is reacting, that this must have been your first time using them. And if I must say you have decent potential for a kid of your age, definitely not on the level of some Oni here but if you trained properly you might surpass some people here"
Subaru: "horns? So that's what that strange sensation was, so you really weren't lying about me not being human…"
Alec: "Of course not, I wouldn't lie to you would I now? You should trust people more often you know that right?
Subaru: " why would I trust a bunch of strangers I barely knew for a day, chasing me down claiming I was something I was not?" Subaru looking at him with detest
Alec: "but we were right weren't we? As long as we were right in the end that should at least gain some of your trust"
While it was true that they weren't lying about Subaru's situation and him truly being one of these Oni, Subaru still believed he had to be on guard around these people. Afterall he just met them
Subaru: "So anyway, how do we reach the capital? I would like to talk to these wise men"
Alec: "uhhh Subaru you can't just talk to the wise men, you need to be at least of noble or knight status to get a chance to even meet with them, not any person can just talk to them"
Alec said instantly shutting down Subaru's hopes
Alec: "but maybe the chief can help you out with that, the chief might not be of noble status but he is a person with high status in the country being the leader of the Oni race. He could help you out and set a meeting with one of them, but it won't be easy you'll probably have to gain his trust first".
Subaru recalling back to the meeting he had with the village chief, seemed to not trust him, but it was understandable, from his perspective a random kid showed up in their lands who was a proclaimed Oni as well lead to some suspicion
Subaru: "Do you know any way I can gain his trust somehow?"
Alec: "The way you can gain his trust is to first show your worth as an Oni by showing your strength, then becoming a part of this village"
Subaru: "Show my strength? But I couldn't even use my "Oni powers" for more than a few seconds before collapsing, how am I suppose to do that?"
Alec: "Simple, you train your body day in and day out, so you can enhance your power"
Subaru: "this is going to be hard isn't it?" Subaru said with a worried expression
Alec: "Hey I didn't say it would be easy now did I?" Alec said with a smirk
Setanta: "everyone gather around I have an important message I'd like to issue!"
In the middle of Subaru and Alec's conversation, they heard the chiefs voice from outside calling all the residents of the village for a gathering
Alec: "Seems like the chief is summoning everyone, we can continue this conversation later Subaru. How about later today me and you have a little sparring match to test your skill? think of it as your first training session"
Subaru: "Alright, you go on without me I'll be right behind you"
Watching Alec walk outside, Subaru started to get out of bed and sit at the chair next to the bed. Being alone in the home Subaru started to contemplate
Subaru: "Mom...Dad… I don't know where I am right now, I don't know why I am a child again, I'm in a village right now with a bunch of strangers. I met this guy, named Alec, you should see him he's a real piece of work... But I just want you to know if I don't make it back to Japan...I love you both, and I promise I won't waste my life the way I did back in Japan, I won't let you down" Subaru said looking down at his childlike hands
Getting up from the bed Subaru walked outside and ran up behind Alec to meet up with the village chief to see what he had to say. Subaru behind Alec's leg looked around and saw that the village residents were crowded around waiting for what the chief had to say, As Subaru expected there were little to no people here in this village, only around 30 or so residents by the look of it, the one thing that was surprising to Subaru was when he looked around there were no children around, only adults
Subaru: "Looks like they weren't lying when they said there was only a handful of their people left, but where all the children? I can't be the noyl kid here can I?" Subaru thought to himself looking around one more time
?: "Did something happen chief? why did you call us all here?"
?: "Is it something about Ram-sama?"
Setanta: "Everyone settle down, I have an important announcement to make, I wouldn't summon you all here if it wasn't important," Setanta said calming the crowd down
Setanta: "from the information I got yesterday from Alec and Drew patrolling outside the village walls It has come to my knowledge that they found another member of the Oni race, one that is now living among us," Setanta said pointing to Subaru who was hiding behind Alec's leg
The crowd began to whisper again some of them looking down at Subaru
Subaru: "Why do I feel like I'm the one being singled out here?" Subaru said under his breath as all the eyes were on him now, feeling anxious Subaru looked down to avoid their gaze on him
?: "But sir with all due respect, there's no more Oni left, we are the last of them"
?: "I agree, also how do you know this kid isn't a spy trying to get information on Ram-sama?"
?: "yea and how did he find our village? Its suppose to be hidden"
?: "I don't think we should trust the boy either"
The crowd started to get into an uproar as everyone started talking about what was going on until Setanta spoke up again
Setanta: "Silence! All of you!, I know this is hard to believe but he indeed is one of us, it might be faint on him but he does have the smell of an Oni"
The crowd started to look at Subaru again finally deciding to calm down
?: "It is true that he does smell like an Oni but what are we going to do with him?"
Alec: "I already decided that from now on Subaru will be staying with me in my home, so I will be taking full responsibility for him"
Setanta: "Are you ready to take that responsibility upon yourself"
Alec: "Yes, if Subaru decides to do something or anything that may harm the people of this village I will take full responsibility for his actions being the one who brought him here in the first place," Alec said looking down at Subaru
Subaru: "thanks Alec"
Alec: "No problem Subaru," Alec smiled rubbing Subaru's head
Setanta: "Then it's been decided then, from now on I leave the caretaking of the boy in your hands, make sure you keep an eye on him"
Alec: "Understood sir"
?: "Oh this is just wonderful, now that there is another child in the village, he can play with Ram and Rem, they needed another kid their age to make friends with, maybe when they return from the flower field they can play together"
?: "now now dear maybe the boy is tired right now, he's probably had a long day"
Tamae:" But Quark wouldn't it be fun to see them play together? There are no other children in the village, they can get to know each other. What's your name little one? The women said with a smile bending down in front of Subaru
Subaru looking up to the two voices before him saw a woman with Dark pink hair and pink eyes probably around her 30's and a man also in his 30's with blue hair and blue eyes, not wanting to stay quiet Subaru spoke up to the people before him, looking up at them
Subaru: "Hello, my name is Natsuki Subaru its a pleasure to meet you," Subaru said with a smile and a thumbs up pointing towards the women
Tamae: "and he even is kind-hearted too and well mannered, he would make wonderful friends for both Ram and Rem
Subaru: "Ram and Rem, who are they? Are they your kids?"
Quark: "Yes they are our daughters, there around your age, I can see you becoming great friends to them in the future"
Setanta: "Well then now that everything has been decided this meeting is now over, you may return to your homes," Setanta said speaking up over the crowd of people
Quark: "I wish to speak with you again Natsuki Subaru, I hope you can find peace in our village"
Subaru: "Thanks, if I see your daughters I would love to play with them eventually," Subaru said with a bright smile
Quark and Tamae smiled back at Subaru and walked away
After the meeting was over, everyone started to walk back to their homes, Subaru started to calm down feeling as if a weight was now lifted off his shoulder as now all the eyes were not on him anymore
Alec: "Woah look at you, first time arriving at the village, and your already the star of the town, I'm impressed and a little envious," Alec said with a smirk knowing exactly what he was doing trying to taunt Subaru
Subaru: "Shut up! I was drawing under pressure over there, and all you did was enjoy the show!" Subaru screamed
Alec: "hahaha, my bad, my bad, there was really nothing I could do. But also from now on it looks like I take full responsibility for you meaning you'll be staying with me, meaning we will share the same bed, how does that sound Subaru?
Subaru: "I think I'd rather sleep outside and catch a cold!" Subaru said with a look of detest
Alec: "Wow that's harsh, you wound me, Well then now that the meeting is over, how about you and me do that training test we agreed upo-"
?: "Old man, what is the meaning of this? You call a meeting while me and my dear sister are out in the field"
Setanta: "Ah Ram, your back took you long enough, the meeting was important, we were here discussing the arrival of a new Oni boy in the village"
Ram: "Oni or not, doesn't excuse you from interrupting the personal time me and my sister were spending together"
Subaru looking over, saw a kid not that far from his age, she had pink hair with pink eyes with a look of detest on her face and behind her, Subaru saw another girl hiding behind her with blue hair and blue eyes with a look on her eyes like she didn't want to be there.
And At this moment would be the beginning of an amazing friendship between the three of them
