Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Researcher Romance. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Pokémon, Nintendo and a few others.

Jack and Sonia sat across from each other at the table. Sonia swished her feet back and forth under the table as she looked at a Pokeball which sat between the duo on the table.

"So how long have you been a professor?" Jack questioned while patting Golem's Pokeball. Sonia hummed and looked over her shoulder at Yamper.

The dog like Pokémon sat in a wicker basket on the other side of the room. Sonia turned and twirled the other Pokeball around on a teal green nail.

"A month or so at best." Sonia said while cupping her chin in her hand. "You?" Sonia asked Jack who chuckled and rubbed at his hair awkwardly.

"I think a year at least?" Jack put in and hummed while leaning backwards. "I spent a few months traveling around Sinnoh, it's where I was born, after all." Jack added while Sonia blinked.

"Oh, so you started as a trainer like me?" Sonia questioned to which Jack hummed.

"Well, yes, but becoming a Pokémon master wasn't exactly my goal." Jack said before leaning on the table in front of him. "I wanted to study Pokémon. My dad told me a lot of the Pokémon that lived in the other regions lived in Sinnoh. So, I postponed any plans I made to leave Sinnoh for a while. But after a year? I couldn't exactly stay forever." Jack put in and cupped his chin.

"So, my request was the thing that brought you back to here?" Sonia questioned with a smile that made Jack feel awkward and nodded.

"Well, it certainly helped." Jack stated as he cracked his fingers and then turned to look to the side. "That and the thrill of adventure and helping people. Nothing is more fun than journeying around, discovering new Pokémon. Right? I mean, you get to enjoy the most of the planet while doing what you love." Jack added which made Sonia smile.

She didn't know how it would work when she became the professor of the region… But now? Now Sonia was starting to enjoy her post and her job.

"Yes, it certainly does." Sonia stated which caused Jack to smile as he turned to look at the papers on the table.

"YAMPER!" Yamper yelled before the Pokémon threw itself onto the table.

Papers were scattered everywhere as the dog like Pokémon wagged its tail at Jack. Sonia was about to say something when Jack chuckled and tapped him on the head affectionally.

"Well, Pokémon certainly make work more fun." Jack said as he smiled and turned to look at Sonia who looked awkwardly at Yamper. "What? At least he isn't like Golem." Jack said as he scratched behind Yamper's ears. The Pokémon turned and buried its head inside his palm.

Sonia watched him pat the Pokémon on the head before he gently picked him up. Jack turned and put Yamper down on the ground next to him as he hummed. Golem turned and looked at his owner before Jack patted him on the head.

Golem looked amused for a second before wandering over towards Sonia. Sonia looked down at the small creature who wanted her to pat his head.

Sonia giggled and gently tapped the Pokémon on the head which caused Golem to sigh happily.

"So, when are we heading out to do research?" Jack asked while he looked at Yamper who was busy skipping around his legs.

Jack knew for a fact that he couldn't hate the Pokémon for what it was doing. The Pokémon was just curious and he desired nothing more then to play with it, showing just how he cared about the creature. He enjoyed the research he would do when he wasn't battling alongside Golem. It reminded him of how he used to be giddy about his first Pokémon.

About Golem… Who now sat next to him as he turned to look to the side and hummed?

"Tomorrow will be a good time to set out." Sonia stated as Jack nodded and started to look through papers.

"You know, when I was young and had just captured Golem?" Jack questioned as he raised an eyebrow and looked at Sonia. "I used to travel around, constantly curious where the next Pokémon would be… He was a tough little guy as a Geodude." Jack pointed out with a hum.

"I knew just how crazy he'd be back then. It was pretty fun, I have so many memories of the little guy…. He's pretty awesome when he comes down to it." Jack added and looked at Golem. "I often wonder just what would happen if he wasn't around with me." Jack stated and hummed.

He knew very well that whatever came next would be insane and wild to the extreme. There was much to do when it came down to it… Much to consider and handle when it came down to it.

Still? He wouldn't falter when it came to it.

Author Notes

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that next chapter will be delayed a bit or such. Next chapter will be in 2-6 months and will show Sonia and Jack out in the wild doing research and such. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!

P.S: Next chapter will be 900 words and I might make a Melody story sooner or later hopefully soon.
