Ellie Rogers walked through the hallways of the maze like building called Stark Tower looking for conference room A16, she never knew a building that wasn't meant to be confusing, be so confusing and it was then she realized looking at her surroundings that she was alone and had no idea where she was in this building, she might not even be on the right floor, the snooty receptionist who took her job way to seriously for some reason probably told her the wrong floor so she would leave her alone lost in her train of thought she rammed into someone "Oh my god I'm so sorry I'm such a klutz" she stuttered and looked up to finally see his face he had brown hair with some of the brightest green eyes she had ever seen, freckles graced his nose and a bit of his cheeks.

"It's honestly fine it was probably my fault I️ really wasn't paying attention to where I️ was going" He said smiling the best smile she had ever seen on someone before making her blush just a little bit. He turned to leave but she stopped him.
"I️ don't know if you would know where this is, but could you point me in the direction of conference room A16?" She asked hoping that he could help her.
"I'm actually heading there myself " he said looking back at her the smile still plastered on his face. She walked towards him the smile on his face was like nothing ever seen it was charming yet goofy "I'm Howard Stark by the way" he said holding out his hand for her to shake it.
"Ellie Rogers" she said shaking his hand and immediately feeling warmth course through her hand and up her arm and all over her body "your Tonys son right?" She asked.
"yeah, and if I'm right your last name makes you the daughter of Steve Rogers"
"yeah, do you know why were here" she asked as they ventured down the hallway side by side.
"No clue all my dad told me is that's it is really important that I'm here" he said opening the door for her.
"thank you, and that's all I️ was told to" she said walking into the room to see people filling almost all the chairs in the conference room and her father and another guy standing at the front of the room.
"Your late El" Steve said
"And you brought my son" Tony said watching his son walk in behind her. Everyone could see Steve frown for just a second then he regaining his neutral expression when he was nudged by his wife next to him.
"I'm sorry your son left me at home and I️ got lost" Ellie said going to sit down she sit down in the chair next to her brother James hitting him on the back of his head. Howard fallowing closely behind her. Looking around the table she saw next to her brother was Torrun her best friend and next to Torrun was her brothers Magne and Modi the gods of strength and battle everyone else sitting at the table seemed to be around the same age.
"You are all here because five days ago there was a breach in security at one of S.H.I.E.L.D's facilities and your files were stolen" Tony said looking around the room at all the faces staring at him he was about to speak when a hand rose up from none other then Ellie Rogers "yes, Ellie do you have a question?"
"Uh Yeah kinda, if this happened five days ago why are we just learning about this now wouldn't this be like an immediate danger, also why does S.H.I.E.L.D have files on us anyways and why are they completely up to date?" Ellie asked shyly shrinking down in her chair while looking at the files kind of regretting it as the question left her mouth.
Tony was about to answer when the door opened and revealed Nick fury "because Ms. Rogers you are special" every one looked up at him as he set a briefcase on the table then opened it.

"that's not really a..." Ellie started.

"El" Steve said "we'll talk about it later"

"she's right because we're special is not an excuse for them to keep up to date complete records on us" Howard said and everyone looked at him surprised that he was defending her.

"wait a minute they even know that you two are together" Ellie said pointing at her brother and her friend "that's honestly really scary, and it means people have been watching us"

"Ellie" Steve started.

"no dad, doesn't this worry you they know where I am more than you do"

"Ms. Rogers we understand your concerns and we will address them later but we think your files being stolen is apart of something much bigger, and we would like you guys to make up the next Avengers" Fury said.

"I can't, I have have to be on my way to Dubai in less than a day" Cooper said.

"Ok anyone else not up to this" Fury asked and no one said a word

"Ok then, Ellie, Howard down to the lab, the rest of you can go mingle or something" Fury said the two walked out of the conference room and to the lab.

The two walked down the hallway "you know you really didn't have to do that" She said breaking the silence.

"Do what?" Howard asked confused.

"agree with me".

"I agreed with you because your right, they shouldn't know what were eating for breakfast lunch and dinner, that's a complete invasion of privacy and I already get enough of that from tabloids"

"but Ive probably gotten you in trouble and that's the last thing I wanted to do"

"you don't know that we're in trouble" Howard said.

"but if we are I'll make sure they know it was only me"

"Ellie you really don't have to do that"

"Yes Howard, I do I'm the reason we were both late I was the one who couldn't find where I was supposed to be, I'm the one who didn't wake up in time, I'm the one who bumped into you, Its my fault" She said sitting down in one of the rolling chairs before Howard could even fathom the thought for an answer the original Avengers started to walk in.

"Dad I'm sorry I didn't mean to interrupt or be rude I really just don't think its right for them to be keeping that extensive of file on people who for the most part haven't even turned eighteen yet and you've always told me to say something when I think something sounds wrong and he also should not be punished for it this is completely .."

"Ellie your not in trouble" Steve said to his daughter.

"what?"

"See, told you were not in trouble" Howard leaned back in his chair.

"you're completely right they should not have that much information about you" Natasha said.

"I'm right"

"Yes your right and they don't have all that information about you" Tony added.

"then why did you call us down here?" she questioned now confused maybe from the lack of sleep she's been getting or just from the situation she has somehow gotten herself into.

"Because we wanted to talk to both of you about leading the team" fury said
"Leading the team" Ellie gulped out.
"yeah"
"I'm sorry, I think you meant to call my brother not me, you know what ill go get him for you" Ellie said starting to get up from the chair she was sitting in.
"No, El sit back down we meant to call you" Steve said looking at his daughter with her panic stricken face.

"I don't lead anyone ever"

"you just led Howard you stood up for what you believed in offered to take the blame for him"

"What was this some type of test were our files even stolen? This probably isn't even real I'm laying at home in bed still This a fever dream, if it is I really think I may need to go to the hospital?" Ellie said.

"yes they were stolen and this might have been a test and you passed Ms. Rogers with flying colors. This is also not a dream" Fury said "you were the only person besides Mr. Stark here who found it odd that S.H.E.I.L.D had up to date files on you which makes you the perfect person to ask questions for the people not on this team"

"Ellie honey you can do this" Steve said and she just nodded eyes wide with shock.

"I'll try my best" she said still stunned that this conversation was even happening at all.

"And darling that's all I could ever asked from you, now I have to go yell at your brother if your mother hasn't already" Steve said kissing her forehead then leaving the room fury and the original Avengers left with him except for Tony who stayed and watched the girl spin around in the chair towards the computer "May I?" she asked gesturing to the computer infront of her.

"whatcha doing checking instagram?" Tony asked her.

"Nope" she said picking up her bag and digging through it and taking out what looked to be a flash drive "just logging into S.H.I.E.L.D to see what they actually have on us"

"you need any help with that?" Howard asked confused at how she was going to figure out the system.

"I don't think so but I'll let you know if I do" Ellie said and started trying to learn the complex system created by both Howard and Tony "dear lord, how are you Caps kid?" Tony asked looking over her at what she was working on she looked back at him confused.

"what do you mean?" she asked tilting her head slightly to the right.
"well within five minutes of you being in here you figured my system out better than anyone's who has worked in this lab besides Howard and I️" Tony said.
"My mother remember"
"yep forgot you were Marys"
"well I'm going to go get myself something to drink either of you want anything" Tony asked walking out of the lab and the two just shook their heads and continued working .

"Ellie can I ask you a question?" Howard asked out of the blue.
"I guess" Ellie said as she continued typing.
"why don't you think you're good enough to lead this team?" Howard asked making her turn around from the computer she was working on to look at him.
"Honestly" she said and he nodded "Because I'm not like all of you guys"

"what do you mean?"
"well I'm not a god, super strong and athletic at all, or a genius" she said the last one she gestured to Howard.
"that's what your going on" he rolled his chair over to in front of her "are you serious you literally just walked in here and figured out a system that most people couldn't even fathom and you say your not a genius, I haven't known you for very long but you seem like a genius to me, and you wont be doing this alone you have me El" Howard said, without thinking he placed his hands on hers that were folded in her lap as she sat criss cross apple sauce on the chair in front of him seconds later realizing what he had just said and did, his eyes widened and his mind started to run with different ways on how to correct himself "well you know not only me you have everyone" The words were meant to sound reassuring but came out as fast and nervous as it could

smiling at him she nodded "thanks Howard" she said then turned around in her chair and went back to what she was doing on the computer, he also turned and rolled back to where he was working "wait a minute did you just call me El?" she said what he thought to be half joking but he couldn't tell.

his face scrunched up "Yeah I think I did" he scratched his head "I'm sorry it kinda you know just came out"

"no Howard its fine you can call me El if you want"she smiled blushing a little bit at the nickname he had given her.

"you know El if if you want you can call me Howie"

"Got it Howie" she smiled as the words left her mouth.
