Grandkids?

A girl, who looked about five years old, rushed out the door and hugged Annabeth, who beamed. The girl had blonde hair and a set of bright green eyes. 'Mommy! You're home! Nico, me and Jay played with balloons! I made the water explode out of it!' Nico groaned, while Annabeth chuckled, ruffling her hair. 'I'm glad you had fun, Lily. Where is Jay?' 'Jay's taking a nappy!' Annabeth gave Nico an appreciative nod, 'Good, let's hope he stays that way for a while…' Nico said goodbye and left.

Frederick stared at his... granddaughter? Gods, he felt old now. After Nico left, Annabeth turned to them, 'Dad, Helen-this is Lily. You'll be able to meet Jason too, after he wakes up. Let's go inside, shall we?' They realised that they were still standing on the porch. It was clear that Annabeth had designed the house, even though the outside looked Roman, the inside looked modern and comfortable. Was the TV made of-bronze? Annabeth, who seemed to have noticed his expression said, 'Leo, being the son of Hephaestus, was able to fix us a celestial bronze TV, so that it won't attract any monsters. We can watch broadcasts from Olympus via Hephaestus TV'. Frederick was about to ask what she meant by us, when Lily said, 'Mommy, when will daddy come home?' 'I don't know, sweetie. He'll probably be coming soon.' 'Who-' Frederick was interrupted by wail from upstairs. Annabeth sighed, 'Well that was fun while it lasted, I'll come back.' She headed upstairs, leaving Lily with her grandparents. 'Jay gets cranky after naps.' Lily explained, smiling sweetly.

'So… what do you like to do Lily?' Helen asked, smiling at the little girl. 'I like to read and swim!' The girl answered enthusiastically. 'We've met before?' Lily looked confused, 'Last time we visited, you looked different grandpa...' Ugh, this time travelling was confusing.

Annabeth returned, this time with a toddler at her heels. He looked about two years old. He had darker hair than Lily and his eyes were a duller shade of green. When the boy noticed they had visitors, he hid behind his mother's legs. 'Guys, this is Jason. Lily, why don't you two play outside?'

After the kids had gone out to play, Annabeth made them tea. 'What did you do after you ran away?' Helen asked, rather cautiously. Annabeth shrugged, 'I found friends. Luke, son of Hermes and Thalia, daughter of Zeus. They helped me find Camp Half-blood. Jay's middle name is Luke, and he was named after Thalia's brother, Jason. He died thirteen years ago.' Clearly, Annabeth wasn't comfortable with this conversation, so Frederick tried to change the subject, 'Lily said she likes to read, isn't she dyslexic?' Annabeth grinned, 'Funnily enough, no. She started reading pretty fast, probably her Athena side coming on. She can read Greek too. Leo says she has the mind of a good engineer.' Before Frederick had the chance to enquire about the children's father, another loud squeal issued from outside, 'Daddy!'

A man, with raven hair and sea green eyes, very like his children entered the door. He had Jay in his arms, who giggled, while Lily recounted the water balloon incident, 'Looks like you take after me, huh?' Said the man, grinning at his daughter, while Jay gurgled in agreement. Annabeth smiled, 'What happened with the Cyclops?' The man grinned at his wife, 'Tyson managed to convince it to be good. The cyclops is gonna work at my dad's with him. Oh and by the way, I bumped into Piper and Thalia, I invited them over for dinner on Sunday.' Annabeth beamed. The man's eyes widened in recognition when he saw Helen and himself, 'Frederick, Helen! This is a surprise. Um...why do you look-different?' 'So they keep saying.' Frederick heard Helen grumble. Annabeth grimaced, 'My mom. They're from a different time. Back when I was seven.'
