Chapter 3: Teaching, Hangout
At the Training Area
"Welcome to Training Area. Today, we'll teach you how to play Turf War. Are you ready, Asta?" Marie asked him if he was ready. "Yeah! I'm ready for teaching today!" Asta said with determination
"Ok. Lesson 1#: How to transform to squid" Marie said. "Huh? Inkling can transform?" Asta asked. "Yes" Marie replied
"Like this, Asta" Callie transformed into the squid. Asta saw this and said with star eyes "OMG! This is so cool". "Thanks" Callie blushed a little and transformed back to inkling.
"Alright, Asta. I need you to stay focused on this. You need to close your eyes and stop thinking about something else. Just thinking about transform into the squid" Marie guided him and Asta does what Marie told. Asta closes his eyes and thinks. Asta feels something inside him
[Ok. Why do I feel like I'm writing about Gohan's training from dragon ball Z]
"Do you feel anything inside?" Marie asked him. "Yes, I can feel it" Asta answered. "Ok. Keep thinking" Marie added
Asta keeps thinking about transform but Asta feels a little bit light. He opens his eyes and sees Squid Sister is taller than him
"Huh? Why are you so tall?" Asta asked in confusion. "Asta. You did it! Look at you!" Callie said with a cheerful voice and showed him a mirror. Asta looked at the mirror and saw his reflection
"Holy Crap! I did it!" Asta said with star eyes and checked his new form. Now, transform back to inkling and try transform again" Marie told him and Asta keep transform. Now, Asta transform into the squid and into the inkling very quickly
"Uhh, Asta. You can stop now. It looks weird" Marie sweat-dropped at the way he did. Asta stopped transforming
"Alright. Lesson 2#: Splat your opponents" Callie said. "You're going to splat your opponents with your weapon" Marie added and they showed their weapons. "WOW! These are looking cool weapons!" Asta said with star eyes
"You need to cover the turf with weapons. You also need to stop the opponents from covering the turf by splatted them" Marie explained to him. "You see those targets. Just think that's your opponent" Marie pointed at the target.
"You're going to splat them with your weapon" Marie aimed at the target with her E-liter 3k. She charged up and shot the target. "Wait! Isn't it dangerous to killing them?" Asta felt a little worried about killing them. "Don't worry. Once, you shot the target. They will come back at their spawn so no need to worry" Marie told him. "Also, your ink tank can refill by itself but it's very slow so you need to transform and swim under your own color ink to refill it faster" Callie added
"Ok, now try to shoot the target" Marie told and Asta nodded. Asta pulled out the Splattershot Jr and aimed at the target "Alright! Let's do this!"
15 minutes later
Asta with his hand on the ground and catches his breath. Asta only got 1 target and he missed the shots a lot. Marie face-palmed and Callie snickered. Callie goes to comfort him. "Hey there. Don't be sad" Callie pats on his back. "I know! It's just I'm not good at shooting!"
"Don't worry. You're not the only one here. Marie and I are failed in the match because we tried out by swap our weapons" Callie remembered about the match that they swapped their weapons. "Really?!" Asta asked
"Yeah. I'm not good at shooting but It's funny that Marie tries to splat them with Roller by ..." Callie got irrupted by Marie. "No No. You are not supposed to tell him that" Marie blushed a little and felt embarrassed
[If you have read Gomi Gomi Pomi's comic, just think that Agent 3 not on the match]
"Ok Ok. I won't tell him" Callie replied and turned to Asta. "Maybe you should try melee" Callie suggested
"I think I should try my sword" Asta stands up and goes to pick up the large sword. Suddenly, the sword's hilt and blade are covered with some ink. They surprised
"Wait. That's work. I don't see any ink tanks on the weapons" Marie confused and Callie added "Yeah but how is that even work?"
"I'm not sure but let's test them out!" Asta swings his sword towards the target and it gets splatted "Oh Man! This is great! I'll use them on Turf War!" Asta said
Asta found out his sword can be covered with some ink so he tries them out to see what they can do
First sword, Ink Slayer sword (Demon Slayer sword). Asta splatted many targets with one swing. Callie told him "Why don't you try to block the enemy's attack? I can see that thing is big. Let Marie and I help you!" Asta nodded. Asta stands still and shields himself with the sword. Marie aimed at him with E-Liter 3k and Callie tried to attack him with Splat Roller but It did block their attack. "It's work!" Asta said with star eyes and raised his sword up
Second sword, Ink Dweller sword (Demon Dweller sword). Asta swings his sword many times at the target but it didn't create a splash like back at Dungeon. 'It didn't create a splash like last time. Maybe I should fill the tank full so I'll swing it harder' Asta thought about the sword's ability. Asta transforms and swims under the ink to refill it. Squid Sisters look at him and wonder what is he doing. Asta transforms back and swings it hard. "White Splash!" Asta shouted as he swung his sword harder and created a Splash. It goes straight to targets and they all get splatted. Squid Sisters surprised about his second sword
"I did it! It's work!" Asta looked at targets and looked down on his sword. "That's a cool move, Asta!" Callie praised him and Marie added "I agree. I didn't think your second sword can do that. Like that, you can splat all them easily". "Thanks" Asta said as he scratched his back head
Third sword, Ink Destroyer sword (Demon Destroyer sword). Asta looks at the tip of his sword is covered with some inks.'The tip of the sword is covered. I wonder If I thrust it, it will create ink ray like Marie's weapon' Asta thought about it. 'I don't know but I have to try' he continued as he points at the target and charges up. "Ink Thrust!" he shouted as the target gets splatted but the ink bullet moves very fast. "I guess that's work" he looked back at his sword
Marie goes to him and tells "I guess this weapon can create an ink ray like the charger. Maybe I can teach you how to become the Charger". "Really?! Thanks Marie!" Asta said with a smile. Marie blushed a little at his smile and said "N-No problem, Asta"
After testing out three swords. Squid Sisters are teaching him how to super jump, by hearing your teammates called "This Way!" so transform to squid and super jump to your teammate's location. Next up, Marie is teaching him how to better aim as the Charger. Then, Asta is learning to dodge the enemy's shot and charger. Asta keep training up before starting the first match tomorrow
Meanwhile in the afternoon
Squid Sisters and Asta are sitting on the bench and drinking water bottles
"Man. Sure this training gave us some workout" Callie said while wiping the sweat on her forehead. "I agree. I thought teaching Asta would be difficult but he learned quickly"
"You know. You girls have been helped me a lot" Asta told them. "No problem, Asta. We know you got stuck here but don't worry. We'll figure it out to get you back in your world" Marie replied. "Thank you. Someday, I repay you back" Asta said with a smile.
They both blushed and Asta confused "Uh. Are you ok? Your face is red again?"
"Oh Uh. No need to worry about it, Asta. It's just this training makes us feel hot" Marie lied to him. "Y-Yeah. Just what she said. It makes us feel hot" Callie added. They try to hide it and Asta, who doesn't understand the girl's behavior so he lets it slide
Suddenly, Asta's stomach growled. "oh. Sorry about that" he felt embarrassed as he scratches his back head. Squid Sisters giggled at this
"Cmon. Let's go somewhere to eat" Marie said and they nodded. They are finding something to eat. They found Squid Food Café. Asta and Squid Sisters go inside and choose the seat. The waiter gives the Menu to them. "May I take your order?" the waiter is waiting for their orders.
"I want Exotic Seastar Soup" Marie ordered her food
"I will have Fish and Chip" Callie added
"Ok. Exotic Seastar Soup for you and Fish and Chip for you. And you?" the waiter pointed at Asta
"I Uh. I'll take Ramen with some Shrimps" Asta told
"And would you like any drink?" the waiter asked them. "We'll have 3 squid cola" Marie said and the waiter writes it down
"So Uhh Asta. Can you tell us about your life? You only tell us about yourself" Marie asked him
"Oh, right. Let me see. My dream is to become a wizard king" Asta said. "A wizard king?" Callie asked him
"Well. Hage village is a poor village. The church doesn't have much money. All we eat is just potatoes. Not only that, I want to help people so that's why I"m going to become a wizard king" Asta added. "Wow, that's the biggest dream you have" Callie said
"Yeah but not only me, who's going to become a wizard king. My brother Yuno, who's also going to become a wizard king so Yuno and I become a rival" Asta continued. "Really? What makes him become a wizard king?" Marie asked him
"Yuno and I are same age so start at 5 years old. Sister Lily is going to go to the town to give a letter to someone but Yuno stopped her and told her that he would do it so he went to the town. We're waiting for him to return but he didn't return. I'm thinking something bad happens to him so I rush to the town and look for him. I found out the man, who is stealing Yuno's pendant" Asta told a story for them. "Really? That's not very nice" Callie said
"Yeah. I rushed in and told him to give it back. Then, he attacks me but I didn't give up so I keep rush in until he gives it back. I did many times so he gave up. I got it back and I covered with some injures. Yuno asked me Why did I do that. I explained to him why and told him that I"ll become a wizard king. Yuno understand why so he's thinking he's going to become a wizard king" Asta told them but Callie, who is almost crying
"Um. Should I continue the story?" Asta asked and they nodded
"Ok. Start at 15 years old. Yuno has been changed" Asta said. "Huh? He changed to what?" Marie asked him
"He's acting cold and sometimes insults me" Asta said. "Really? Did something happen to him?" Callie wanted to know about what happened to his brother
"Well, I'm not sure what makes him become like this. The day that everyone started to earn their grimoire in Grimoire Tower. I'm very excited that I'm going to earn it" Asta said. "Oh, so do you earn it?" Callie asked
"... no, the grimoire can't choose me because I don't have any magic. I got laughed at by everyone. Suddenly, I saw a big light. I looked at it and saw Yuno, who earned the fourth leaf grimoire. It's the same grimoire that the first wizard king earned. Everyone here has the third leaf and only Yuno has the fourth leaf. I started talk to him that I would be his rival but he just ignored me and started to insult me. I got laughed at again" Asta said as he remembered that day he got insulted. "Ok! What kind of brother is he?! He should help you!" Callie said angrily
"Calm down, Callie. And Asta, you mentioned about leafs on the grimoire. What do they mean?" Marie asked him as she calms Callie down
"If I remember correctly, the old wizard told us the third leaf held some Faith, Hope, Love, and the fourth leaf means Luck" Asta explained to them. Callie suddenly remembers something "Hey Asta. Yesterday, you asked us where was your grimoire. You said the grimoire didn't accept you because you don't have magic"
"Let me continue. Everyone got out of the Tower. I'm sitting on the tree because I felt depressed. I'm thinking about giving up but I'm not giving up! Not giving up is my magic!" Asta told them his magic and they think that was weird magic. "Really? Not giving up is actually your magic?" Marie gives him a blank look
"Hey! Of course, it is actually my magic! Ok, I was about to do some more training but I saw Yuno outside the Grimoire Tower and the man, who is facing Yuno. I see he uses his magic and ties Yuno up. I'm looking at him. He picks up Yuno's grimoire. I think he tries to steal it" Asta continues his story. "Really? Then what happened to your brother?" Marie said with worry
"He got tied up by the man's magic. I saw his fear so I rushed in to help him. I told that man to give it back but he laughs and tells me that I have no magic. Yuno told me to run but I'm not running away like a coward. I dash to him and dodge his magic. I almost punch him from behind but I got tied up around my belly by his magic. He attacks me with his magic" Asta said and looked at Squid Sisters, who are angry. "What?"
"Why would you do that?! You're going to get yourself killed!" Callie said angrily
"Calm down. I know Yuno is a jerk but I can't let my brother gets hurt" Asta replied
"I got some injured. I told myself I will become a wizard king but that man insulted me and said that I don't have any magic. I was about to give up but Yuno yelled to him that I'm not weak and I'm not a loser. Yuno said that I'm his rival. I understand that so I'm not giving up until I beat him. Suddenly, the area turns to dark and I saw a grimoire came out of the walls. It flew to me and pulled out the big sword. I pick it up and dash to him. I swing it towards him. That's the day I earn the grimoire. The grimoire looks old and dirty but It doesn't matter. As long as I have a grimoire so it'll be fine to me" Asta remembered the day he earned the grimoire
"Here your foods, customers" The waiter brought out their food and drink
"Hey, Asta. Tell me about your adventures" Callie wanted to know his adventures
Asta told them a lot of his adventures. He also told them his first day of the Magic Knight Exam and he has become a Black Bulls. He talked to them about his squad and his captain
Timeskip. He told them everything on his adventure
"Wow. Sure you have a lot of adventures" Marie said
"I agree. It's funny that your captain keep grabbing your head" Callie laughed
"Yeah. He may look bad but he's not a bad person at all" Asta said
They are chatting about their life and their work while eating their food. They have finished their food. They called the waiter and ordered some drinks
"Hey. I need to go to the bathroom. I will be right back" Asta gets up and goes to the bathroom
Asta has finished going to the bathroom and he washed his hands. Suddenly, he felt three Ki approach Squid Sisters. He gets out of the bathroom and sees three guys are picking on Squid Sisters
"Come on, baby. Hang out with us" Thug 2 said
"Leave us alone!" Marie yelled and felt annoyed
"We don't hang out with anyone like you!" Callie added
"Hey there. We won't hurt you" Thug 1 (their leader) said.
Thug 1 almost touches them. Asta grabs his arm and says with a glare "I suggest you to leave them alone"
"Oh. Who do you think you are? A weak like you can't against us" Thug 1 said. Asta doesn't like someone insults him
"Then what are you going to do?" Thug 1 mocked him. "This!" Asta holds his arm and throws him to another table
"Shoot him!" Thug 2 and 3 pulled their gun out and shot Asta but Asta blocks it with his Ink Slayer and swings his sword on them and makes them unconscious.
"You may know them as idols but it doesn't mean you know their life" Asta said. Squid Sisters blushed that he saved them
"Come on, Asta. Let's go to pay for our food and get out of this" Marie said and hide her blush
They got out of the restaurant and walked to their home.
"Hey, Asta" Marie called him and Asta turned to her. "Thank you for saving us"
"Yeah. Without you, we don't know what is going to happen to us" Callie thanked him
"Don't worry. You girls are my friends and also you helped me a lot. So I won't let anything happen to you" Asta said with a smile and they blushed again
"Come on. Let's go home" Marie told them and they nodded. They walked on the way to their home. Tomorrow, they'll have work. Squid Sisters work on broadcast and singers too. Asta works at Ammo Knights so he will start his first match in the afternoon
