Chapter 4: Battle of Trost part 1
Note: Not gonna write the battle between Eren and the colossal Titan because why not.
The bell rang in Trost, Signaling everyone to evacuate.
"Leave all material possessions behind!" A garrison Yelled.
"PLEASE EVACUATE CAMLY!" Yelled another Garrison.
"Regrettably, the Survey Corps, which has the most combat experience, is outside the wall on an exploratory expedition." A Garrison yelled.
"Therefore, we in the Garrison are currently alone in repairing the wall and preparing for an incursion."
"You trainees passed the Graduation drills! You're first-class soldiers now!" The garrison leader said.
"This's your first operation, but we expect you to contribute!"
Ed looked at him in disgust, "Letting Trainees who had just passed go and kill Titans? We don't even have any experience."
Ed spotted Mikasa staring at Hannah and Franz.
"Don't worry, Hannah... I swear I'll protect you." Franz said.
"Franz..." Hannah said
Ed was just staring at how Hannah and Franz are having a cute moment but he knew that at least half or more of the class would be eaten by Titans.
Ed saw Mikasa looking for someone and he knew who it was, "Eren" Ed thought.
Mikasa then spotted Eren with Armin and Edward started to walk towards them.
"Armin are you all right?!"
"I-I'm Fine! I'm sure things will settle down soon!" Armin yelled.
Edward was watching Armin freaking out and trying to screw in his gas tank.
Edward approached him and pushed it in.
Armin looked at Ed.
"Armin! Calm... down..." You're going to be fine."
"B-But the Ti-"
"We just need to distract the Titans or at least kill some of them so the citizens can at least evacuate from Trost," Edward said.
"We trained in the Military for 3 years to learn to kill the Titans so if you keep calm then you will survive out of this," Edward said.
"S-sorry I'm fine now..." Armin said.
They nodded and left.
"Just like in your training, each squad will take a different street. You're under the Garrison's Command. Your duties are support, communications, Titans-killing, and anything else that is needed."
"The garrison will take the vanguard, you Trainees are on the middle guard, and the Garrison's elite unit will be in the Rearguard.
"Time for us freeloaders fight. We've gotta defend wall rose even if it cost us our lives. Until every last man, Woman and Child are safely evacuated." The garrison leader said.
Everyone in the lines had nervous faces.
"Oh, and as you're aware, Deserting in the face of our enemies is considered a capital offense. Be prepared to sacrifice your lives, People."
Everyone tensed up at what he had just said.
"DISMISSED!" The Garassion leader Yelled out.
"YES, SIR!" Everyone shouted while saluting.
Everyone else starting running.
Ed watched as everyone was scared out of their minds as they were all barfing and looked distressed.
Ed watched Samuel started vomiting on the floor with Krista next to him and Jean mumbling about the Military police.
"If the battle gets rough. Find me." Ed heard Mikasa say and he turned around to see how this will end.
"Huh?!" Eren said confused.
"What are you talking about Mikasa? We are in different teams. Eren said growing irritated.
"You could be in trouble," Mikasa said. "I'll protect you."
"Huh protect me?" Eren thought.
"TRAINEE MIKASA!" Ian Yelled.
Mikasa turned around.
"You've been moved to a different squad, you have been assigned in The squad with Eren Jeager, Armin arlert, Mina, Thomas, and Samuel." The garrison yelled.
Eren looked concerned and Mikasa looked shocked. "Huh? W-why?" Mikasa asked.
"This fellow said he would take your place and we heard he is the best the Military ever got." He replied.
Mikasa looked behind him to see Edward Smirking.
Everyone looked at Edward with faces filled with Jealousy.
Everyone left and as Ed was about to leave Mikasa grabbed his arm.
Ed turned around to look at her.
"Why did you do that?" Mikasa asked.
"Well I saw that you were desperate on protecting Eren and I know that he's very special to you," Edward said smiling.
Mikasa smiled and understood why Eren and Armin look up to him.
"Thank you..." Mikasa muttered.
[Time skip in Trost]
Edward's POV
Flashback*
"What we've learned about Titans, such as their mode of life, we owe the latest reports by the survey corps.
"We haven't been able to confirm whether the Titan poses humanlike intelligence. Therefore is no precedent for mutual understanding between our races."
"The structure of the titan body is fundamentally different from all other beings, They have no sexual organs and the method of their reproduction is unknown. Most of them tend to have a male physique. And their bodies have extremely high temperatures and, Strangely they show no interest in life forms other than humans."
"The Titans don't eat humans for food they just kill them."
"Also the main reason that us humans have been driven into a corner is that the Titan's Astounding ability to heal. They can regenerate their heads and all other body parts in a minute or two." The teacher explained.
"The only known way to kill a Titan is to slash the nape of its neck."
"That's why we use Vertical maneuvering gear."
[Flash back end]
"I wonder why we have to slash its nape." Ed thought.
"If I'm right That's where the spinal cord is." Ed thought "Maybe it has something to do with."
POV END
"This is a good opportunity, Don't you think Eren? I mean before applying for the Survey corps..."
"If we prove ourselves in this battle they'll make us fresh recruits.." Armin stated.
"Yeah, You're right."
"Sorry to burst your bubble... But a lot of people are applying for the survey corps." Mina said.
Eren, Armin, and Mikasa were a bit taken aback by this.
"You left me in the dust before, Eren, but this time.., I'M KEEPING UP!"
"And to make this interesting, let's see who can slay more titan!" Thomas yelled.
Everyone cheered.
"You're on, Thomas! As long you don't fudge your numbers!" Eren said.
"Let's GO!" Eren yelled.
Everyone cheered and screamed.
'I have a bad feeling something is gonna happen...' Mikasa thought.
Everyone started zooming through the sky with their ODM gear.
"Huh?! Why are there Titans in the Vanguard?!" Eren yelled.
"So the Advance squad was wiped out," Mikasa said a bit surprised.
"IT'S AN ABNORMAL! DODGE!" Eren yelled
The abnormal leaped and hit its head in a building.
The Titan moved and they Saw Thomas in its mouth.
Everyone was horrified.
"Uh..!" Thomas said confused.
"Help..." Thomas said before getting Eaten.
Eren looked mad and his anger took over.
"Wa-WAIT!" Eren yelled as he hooked onto a building and started flying.
"Eren NO! DON'T GO OFF ON YOUR OWN!" Someone yelled.
Mikasa followed Eren so he doesn't get hurt.
"NOT YOU TOO MIKASA!" Mina yelled.
Eren was so focused On the Titan that ate Thomas that he didn't see the Titan under him.
"EREN! THERE'S ONE BELOW YOU!" Mikasa cried.
"HUH?!" Eren said confused.
The Titan jumped and bit off one of Eren's legs.
Eren got hit by the roof and slid between buildings.
Mikasa looked horrified by The bloodied Eren with one leg.
Armin fell to his knees.
"NO... Eren.." Mikasa said.
"His leg.." Someone said.
Mikasa hooked onto the Titan that ate Eren's leg and cut its nape.
Everyone else followed.
But a Titan pulled onto Mina's wire and that caused her to slam her back into the wall almost unconscious.
A Titan caught two of Eren's Squad Mates.
Armin was just there watching and could not move.
One got Eaten in Half, The other got his organs crushed while Mina got Her Head bitten off.
'Why... Do... I... Have to watch... My comrades being Eaten?' Armin said to himself.
Armin saw a Titan heading over to Mikasa and he mustered all the energy he can and yelled, "MIKASA BEHIND YOU!"
But it was too late because the Titan grabbed her.
Mikasa struggled, but the Titan's grip on her was very tight.. but not tight enough to crush her. As Mikasa struggled to get out of the Titan's grip, the world suddenly just became dark for her. She looked down, and her heart dropped, color leaving her face.
All she saw..was the Titan's throat. Heated saliva dripped down the roof of its mouth, she felt the Titan grip losen, but she just landed into his tongue and started to slide down because of its slippery saliva.
Armin just watched in horror and tried getting up.
Eren was watching this from his bloodied face.
'I've... always been worthless... ever since the very beginning..." Eren said to himself.
Eren remembered something his mother said.
*Flashback*
Eren remembers how every time he comes back home he always had a black eye and bruises all over his face, While Mikasa did not have so much as a scratch on her skin. His mother's voice still rang in his head.
"You need to stop being so reckless and always have Mikasa save you, Eren. You need to be a man and protect Mikasa for once, Okay?
*End of Flashback*
Eren almost laughed at that memory.
Because even though he had always tried to protect Mikasa, and even though she never seemed to need any protection from him but rather only mothered over Eren instead, But... This time... he will protect her just like Ed told him once.
As Eren said that he stood up with one leg.
As Mikasa was sliding down the Titan's throat, she could see that its teeth started closing, The light from the outside fading, and just as she started accepting her death, "Sorry Eren..."
As she said that she felt someone grab onto her hand.
She looked up to see... Eren?
"Eren...!", Mikasa cried, as she watched him struggle. Eren gritted his teeth, trying to get Mikasa out while pushing the Titan's teeth so it won't close on them.
Eren knew that Mikasa was heavier than him but he kept trying to pull her out.
"I-I AM NOT LETTING YOU DIE LIKE THIS!", using all of his force, he pulled Mikasa out and threw her outside the Titan's mouth.
Mikasa landed on the hard roof, She instantly looked up, seeing the titan's mouth closing down on Eren.
"Mikasa... Finally, I protected you." Eren said smiling at her.
Eren's thoughts raced as the Titan's jaw closed more and more on him, seeing the horrified expression on her face.
"No... EREN! NO!", Mikasa yelled out as she began to get up, Same with Armin But they were both too late because The Titan's jaw closed and it bit Eren's arm off, Making Eren get eaten.
Mikasa and Armin forze, in horror, as the Titan just swallowed Eren. At that moment, Mikasa felt her heart stopped beating, as the Titan began to walk away from them.
Meanwhile With Edward.
The Elite squad were walking until Ed stopped and looked behind him, 'I swear I just heard Mikasa and Armin scream.' Ed thought.
But he thought it was nothing and continued Helping evacuating the Citizens, Which they were almost done with.
