Chapter 4:

Smiling to herself as she woke up, feeling his arms wrapped around her, her memory of the night before was coming back to her, remembering how he brought her dinner, and they had a romantic bubble bath together and then made love in each other's arms all night long.. She had been worried that she had really screwed things up between them when she promised not to tell Steve about Mangosta, however her worries were unfounded as she snuggled into him more.

Feeling his lips brush against her shoulder, she smiled wider before turning in his arms and stretching out like a cat, "Mmmm Good Morning Sailor", she whispered softly, her eyes still half closed as she instinctively moved closer to his warmth, his eyes were opening slowly, his nose rubbing against her own nose, and he smiled coyly, "Good Morning Lieutenant". Steve loved the way she always called him Sailor, even after becoming a SEAL and being involved with Navy Intelligence, it always kept him grounded and made sure he didn't get a big head.

Knowing he had decided to take the day off, he had no intention at all to go anywhere else, and anything the team needed him for could wait.. Bath fo them needed this, and he could sense that she still felt terrible about what happened and he needed her to know that despite the fact he didn't like that she lied to him and kept him in the dark, he wasn't going to let this ruin them.. "Cath.. I know that you are still thinking about everything that went down and wishing you had done things differently.. This was probably our first real hiccup and I want you to know that despite how hurt and betrayed I felt.. I'm not going to let this define our relationship or walk away from you because of it".

His nose continued to rub against hers and he gazed into her now open eyes, and smiled softly, "I know that these days people tend to walk away from a relationship or marriage at the drop of a hat, and don't want to work for it, but I'm not one of those.. I'm a man who will fight for what I want, and what I want… is you Catherine.. only you", whispering softly, his lips moving to press against her own, kissing her sensually and lovingly, "we have a good thing going, and even if we don't have a label for what we are to each other, we still have a good thing, and I'm not going to ruin what we have after one little issue".

Sighing softly in relief, she didn't realise how badly she needed to hear those words till now.. She had been hurt when he pushed her away and didn't speak to her for a week, and yet she understood why, and only blamed herself for it.. She had no excuses and no real reason.. If she had any reason, it was because she had wanted to make an impression on Doris McGarrett, the mother of the man she was in love with but in all honestly, the only person she needed to impress was Steve..

"I never intended to hurt you Steve.. but I did and I feel so terrible for betraying your trust and I just hope that it doesn't continue to weigh on your mind on if you can trust me or not.. because I want you to be able to trust me and not worry that you can't". In one moment, she betrayed his trust, knowing that he had issues with his own mother and his trust issues with her… "You are the only man I have ever felt close to, the only man I have ever let get close in every way and I can't imagine letting another man ever get close to me.. You are the only one I want".

Her body and heart was aching for him, even though she had a thing with Billy Harrington when her and Steve were in an off period, she never let him touch her, and they rarely even kissed.. It was more of a companionship thing for Catherine than anything else. She never let Billy get anywhere near as close as she had Steve, Steve was her first and she wanted him to be her only.. "It's okay Cath.. I trust you, and I trust you won't do this again.. Let's just put this behind us and move forward.. I don't wanna lose you and you aren't gonna lose me either".

Catherine breathed in slowly at his words, her heart racing inside her chest, "You always manage to say the right words".. Steve was her first love and she wanted him to be her first and only love, "I aim to please", he chuckled and smiled, leaning in to kiss her softly, his body pressing against hers, loving the way she felt in his arms.. "Steve… Are you sure you can take the day off?", she asked hesitantly, gazing at him, her heart filled with hope, and desire for the man lying next to her.

"You mean am I sure that Danny, Chin and Kono can look after things for the day while I'm not around.. I'm sure about that, and honestly.. Danny and Chin have even more experience with being a cop then I have, so I trust they can do the job without me being there to boss them around", he paused for a moment and let his fingers trail down her side slowly, "Look Cath, we both need this, more then I need to be at my job today.. My phone's been off since I got in the car to come here last night.. I hated not being around for this week, it made my heart ache not being able to hold you in my arms".

Her heart swelled with that knowledge, and she smiled happily, her body moving a little closer to his as she kissed him softly on his lips. "We do need this… I really thought I had blown it when you didn't reach out to me this whole week, and I wanted to reach out to you, however I just knew you.. and I knew you needed to work through it in your own way and I didn't want to push things or try to influence you one way or the other.. You being there at the funeral, it meant a lot to me, and to the whole team as well".

He looked into her eyes and smiled softly, "That's why we work so well.. because we both know when to give the other space and a little time.. we don't automatically think the relationship is over because of one issue". Steve could sense that though Catherine had only just met these women, they meant a lot to her especially Crimson Bride, they seemed to bond a lot and he smiled softly at her, pushing her hair back over her ear, "I know you were hesitant to go undercover seeing as you had never done that before, but did I tell you how much I appreciate you for it.. and I know you have made some friends in that team, especially Crimson and I think it's good for you to have friends outside of five-o as well".

Steve knew that Catherine had a few buddies around the world, and a few on the mainland from when she went to school in a few different places, but he also knew she didn't get a lot of time to socialise with them knowing her busy schedule in the Navy so she usually stuck with the five-o team and Steve's friends when she was here on the island, but he hoped she knew they were her friends as well now.

She smiled softly, looking at him, her hand resting on her head and her elbow resting on the bed, "I know and I'd do anything for you and the team.. when you ask these 'favours', I know it means I'm gonna be spending time with you, or just hearing your voice, so I'm always happy to do it.. I thought Crimson would hate me when she found out I was undercover for you guys, but it I think brought us closer, she was appreciative of our efforts to find Dana's killer.. She asked if we could keep in touch and I said yes".

Catherine felt safe, this was her happy place, being in Steve's arms and in his presence, though they had an unconventional type of relationship with no labels, they both knew who they were to each other, and while they had a little bump in the road, she knew they would always be the type of couple to fight for what they wanted, and that made her feel good knowing that.. She knew every woman just about on the island had the hots for her man, but she also knew he would never do anything at all, and even Kono, Danny and Chin had all but confirmed to her that he barely looked at other women or acknowledged them beyond a professional setting.

"So, how about I make you some breakfast Lieutenant Rollins?, then we can maybe go for a drive, or a hike maybe?", they didn't often get a chance to spend time together and most of the time, what little time they had together was usually spent beneath the sheets, but he wanted to start showing her in different ways that he loved her, moaning softly, she nodded her head answering his question, "breakfast sounds good, and a day with you showing me around your island and going for a hike sounds perfect".

While she loved the idea of staying in bed and not getting out the whole day, she realised she still didn't know a lot about Steve's daily life in Hawaii, what he did when he was not chasing down suspects and interrogating them in rendition, and where he liked to go to relax and clear his head.. She had known he always liked to hike and that his Dad took him to certain places when he was a kid, and he liked that he wanted to share that with her now. There was always a connection that went beyond sex between the two of them, but it felt important to her that he was now wanting to not just spend time with her in bed between the sheets but also sharing his life and his home with her..

She watched as made a move to sit up and the sheets dropped from his upper body, and part of her wanted to just pull him back into bed with her now, the other part of her wanted to experience this romantic day with him, and celebrate being together and in love, so she continued to watch as he fumbled around for his pants, and slipped them on his legs, standing up, her heart racing as she got a glimpse of his ass before his cargo's covered it back up again, her legs swinging to the side of the bed as she decided to get up and go have a shower while he made breakfast, "Mmm you could have made breakfast without the pants Sailor", she smirked as she felt him press his body against her back, and kiss her neck, "Well, I guess it depends on what kind of breakfast you are after Lieutenant.. Something of substance or just plain delicious", he couldn't help the devilish look in his eyes and smile when he said that.. "Because we both know, if I cooked breakfast naked, we wouldn't be eating food or going anywhere".

Giggling softy, she turned around in his arms and wrapped her arms around his neck, and smiled, "Ohh I know that", she kissed him softly, pressing her naked chest against his, loving the skin on skin feeling and then pulled away, "I'm gonna go take a shower, you wanna join me or?", she asked him leaving that question in the open as he leaned in and kissed her, "Mmm I think breakfast can wait a little bit don't you?", he replied in a charming way as Catherine tugged his arm towards the bathroom, both of them smiling and giggling, unaware that outside Doris was watching through the slightly open blinds, sighing in relief to know that her son was okay and that he and Catherine still seemed to be on good terms.

Thanks for all your continued support, I always appreciate the fans or even just casual readers who find my work and love reading them. It means so much to me.. I may not do as many updates as I used to do, but I'm slowly finding my way back to my love of writing and wanting to continue these stories. I'm always looking for new inspiration too so whenever I watch an episode with Steve and Catherine in it, I may just start something much like I did here.. I am also curious how Adam and Kono first met, the first few times we see Adam is when he is looking for his father and Kono is nowhere around during those scenes so I would love to work out a story for how that met, like maybe it was during one of those moments when he and Kono caught each other's eyes when he was dealing with looking for his Dad.. I always will get my other ones done, and now I think about it, that could be a part of a flash back for I need you which is my Kodam fic..x
