Chapter Four

Hi? I am so sorry this fanfic hasn't updated since…gosh…August 9th of last year. Well, since then, I've written a novel, and it's almost self-published.

But you readers probably don't care about that, you just want to get to reading this next chapter. I don't blame you.

On to the chapter!

(Randall's POV)

After Becky and I got engaged, we had to sit her parents down and explain my world.

So I did.

When the story was finished, Becky's dad took me aside, and asked me the basic questions: drinking, drugs, smoking, etc.

In my world, I have a criminal record, and I know that in this world, I'd have a criminal record if people knew I existed.

Well, besides Becky's parents, that is.

I don't smoke or do drugs, and I rarely drink, if ever.

Becky is faced with a dilemma since she's agreed to marry me.

Will she go back with me to my world, or will I stay with her in her world once we're married?

On the one hand, she'll leave everything she's ever known to go to a completely new world. On the other, people might not accept someone like me – a reptilian monster.

It's ultimately up to her what she does. No one can make that decision for her. Not even me.

As it's pretty late, Becky and I go out to the porch swing to talk. I can tell my fiancée is torn on what to do.

"Honey, whatever you want to do, I'll support you wholeheartedly, be it staying here and have me be accepted into society, or us going back to my world." I tell her.

"Where would we even live? I can't hold down a stable job for more than a week."

"Well, I guess I could find a job here. I've been making kids laugh for 19 years. I'm sure that there's a job for me out there somewhere. I just have to look."

"That covers you. What about me?"

"Hmm…have you ever heard of Nanowrimo?"

"I've heard of it. It's National Novel Writing Month. Randall, what are you thinking?"

"I'm thinking…you write a novel, make a bunch of money off of it, and then you're set."

"What if the book doesn't do well? What if I can't figure out a good novel idea?"

"I'll be there to help you plan it, if you need me to be."

"Thanks, Randy."

"You're welcome."

The next day, after I officially place a ring on her finger – the one she got for her birthday one year from her mom – we start planning her novel.

I'll spare you the details of what it's going to be about, and just give you a general summary: it's a road trip romance novel.

Soon, we take a break from planning her novel and start planning our wedding. It will be an intimate ceremony, since it'll just be her parents, myself and her.

Her mom, pleased she's marrying a man instead of a woman, tells Becky that she'll pay for her wedding dress.

Which will be a complete surprise to me.

Since baking is my forte, Becky, who has excellent baking skills of her own, and I will be baking our wedding cake. It will be simple, just a white one tier cake with purple sugar flowers, since I am mostly purple and Becky's favorite color is purple (which is a complete coincidence).

When we're designing our cake one day, a thought strikes my fiancée.

"Randy?"

"Yes, my dove?"

"Would you like your parents to come? And your sister, nephew and brother-in-law? I know it's going to be an intimate ceremony, but…"

"You want them to be there, Becky?"

"Honey, they're your family. Of course I want them to be there."

"How about this? We get married in Monstropolis. That way my parents don't have to come through your closet, and we could just go there and they could meet us wherever we get married."

"That's a great idea. Plus, I'd get to see your world, even if just briefly."

"I like the way you think, honey."

"Thanks."

"You're welcome."

After we finish designing our wedding cake, I call my mom and sister, which is surprising because my phone actually works in this world, and ask if they'd like to accompany Becky and her mom when she picks out her wedding dress.

Both my mom and sister agree, and will come through Becky's closet the day Becky goes to pick out her wedding dress, which is the day after tomorrow.

The day arrives, and, well, I'll let my sister Maria tell you.

(Maria's POV)

Once my mom and I arrive in my brother's fiancée's world (My son Rex is with my husband Tony and my dad, Michael), and after we meet Becky and her parents, we head to the bridal salon to help my future sister-in-law pick out her wedding dress.

Needless to say, we got some questionable looks since half of the group is human and the other half are reptilian monsters.

Becky tries on five different wedding dresses and ends up picking an A-line lace wedding dress with side split detail and bedazzled bodice and side.

I've only known her for a few hours, but Becky and I have gotten close. At least I think so.

Becky's mother pays for the dress, after my mom and Becky's mom argue about who will pay for the dress and accessories, such as her veil and shoes.

We leave the bridal salon and head home.

After Mom and I talk with Randall and Becky for a few hours, Becky's mother Anne gets a call from her father.

Becky's grandmother just passed away.

~.~

(Randall's POV)

It's a very private funeral, family only.

Becky's parents allowed me, and only me, to be with them during this difficult time, while my mother and sister went back to the monster world.

I stay in the front with my fiancée, but I'm invisible, though I'm holding Becky's hand.

And, as fate would have it, it's raining.

After the funeral, we head home, and decide to stay in this world for the time being, until Becky's mother has enough strength to let her daughter go with me to my world.

Becky, in her grief, has a mental breakdown and starts throwing books in her room.

She collapses in tears and I'm quick to hold her close.

"I know, baby. I know. I know. I'm here. Shhh."

After she finishes her sobbing, I help her put her books back on her shelf.

Thankfully, none of them got broken or torn. And if any of them did, I'd buy her replacements.

Months pass, and, after Becky and her mother pick up her wedding dress in a white garment bag, we head to the monster world.

It's time for Becky and me to say "I do".
