Luz's father sat on the couch, a book in one hand and a glass of whiskey in the other. He hoped Luz enjoyed the gift and he hoped that she would finally open up.

"Dad?"

He closed the book and looked behind him. He put his glass down and stood up.

"Hello, Princess." He said.

Luz ran at him and hugged him. She started crying and he ran a hand through her hair.

"It was my fault. She died because of me!" Luz said.

"Luz, you couldn't have stopped it. It wasn't your fault." He said.

"Yes it was!"

"How? What happened? Who killed your mother?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Luz said.

"Princess, I know you would never lie to me." He said, "Anything you say, I'll believe."

"I went to another dimension to become a witch." She said.

He stayed quiet for a second.

"You're... pushing my belief a little, but okay." He said, "So how did you becoming a witch cause your mom to be killed?"

Luz let out a sigh.

"There was a witch that watched me from a distance after I returned home." Luz said, "I don't know why he wanted me, but he was there to kill me. I bet Emperor Belos sent him after me. It started as a normal morning."

Luz was at the table, thinking about how to tell her mom that she never went to camp, but instead, went to another dimension. What? It's not like they made a card for it. She was knocked out of her thoughts when she heard an explosion coming from outside. She heard screaming and ran to the window to see what was going on. She saw someone standing in front of her house. Someone with pointed ears. He destroyed the door and walked inside. Luz started running but was stopped by a spell. She was forced to look at him as he put his finger up. Luz closed her eyes and waited for her demise. It never came, instead, she felt herself get pushed to the ground and the spell was destroyed. She looked up and saw her mom with a large blood stain on her stomach. Camila fell to her knees and Luz ran over to her as she fell on her back.

"MAMI!?"

Camila used a shaky hand and cupped Luz's cheek. She wiped away a tear that started to fall down Luz's cheek.

"I-I-I'm sorry... Mija."

Luz heard the sound of people running into her house and saw the witch start to flee. Luz felt a hand on her shoulder and saw a cop, giving her a sad look. She knew exactly what the cop was telling her with that look... her mom wasn't going to make it.

"I was brought to the police station and that's when they contacted you." Luz said, "If I never went to the Boiling Isles, this wouldn't have happened!"

Her dad pulled her close and kneeled in front of her.

"Luz, this isn't your fault. You never wanted this. This is his fault and his fault alone. Is there anything happy from when you were there?"

"Well, I made friends. There was this one girl, her name is Amity, she is really cool."

"Really? Tell me about her." He said, having a theory in his head.

"Well, she's amazing, smart... beautiful." She said.

"Do you feel like you can't live without her?"

"Yeah, how did you know?"

"Because, I felt the same way about your mother." He grabbed Luz by the shoulder's, "Luz, I promise you, I'll get you back to that place and I'll make sure that you and this Amity girl get to see each other again."

Luz smiled at him and hugged him.

"Thank you, daddy."

"You're welcome, Princess." He said, returning the hug, "How about this? Why don't I order us a pizza, we watch a movie tonight, and tomorrow, we have a daddy/daughter day? That sound like fun? We'll do anything and everything you want."

"Make it pizzas and you have yourself a deal."

"You're trying to use my money to get more aren't you? You'll make a great business woman someday, the metaphorical ruler to my Corporate Empire."

They only made it halfway through the movie before falling asleep on the couch.
