Chapter 4:
Elsa's Visit
When Elsa arrived to visit for the weekend, Kristoff couldn't be more relieved. Hopefully, this would take his mind off of Isabelle, while she was still here. In the days following the intense encounter in the shop, Kristoff had done his best to avoid Isabelle. He didn't want to be left alone with her again, especially since Anna stumbled upon the two the last time, and Isabelle lied to her about what had happened. Anna was still displeased with Kristoff's attitude, often reminding him to change it for the sake of their guest. Even though Isabelle was going to leave after this weekend, Kristoff still couldn't shake the feeling that that wouldn't be the last of her. During their years together, she was known to be very persistent. Her little incident in the shop proved that she hadn't changed a bit. So, it was on that Saturday when Elsa came riding into Arendelle on the Nokk. Anna, Kristoff, Jon and regrettably Isabelle, were all out on the docks waiting for her. When Elsa rode close enough to shore, she dismounted the Nokk, and the spirit faded into the water. Anna greeted her sister with a big hug. Elsa visited Arendelle regularly, but Anna still missed her just the same.
"Elsa! It's so good to see you!" Anna cried.
"It's great to see you too, Anna!"
Elsa walked over to Kristoff and Jon, greeting them.
"How are you, Kristoff?"
"I'm fine, Elsa. It's good to see you," Kristoff replied.
"Likewise."
Turning to Jon, Elsa smiled.
"And how are you, sweetie?" she asked.
"I'm good Auntie Elsa! I can count to twenty now," Jon cried.
Elsa gasped in surprise. "You can? Well, you'll have to show me while we're here."
"Oh, I will!" Jon exclaimed.
Elsa laughed, before noticing Isabelle standing beside Jon.
"Hello, I don't believe we've met," Elsa said.
"No, we haven't. I'm Isabelle. I'm an old friend of Kristoff's. Anna and Kristoff were kind enough to let me stay here for a while."
"Nice to meet you, Isabelle," Elsa said, shaking Isabelle's hand. "Any friend of Kristoff's is a friend of mine."
Kristoff groaned at that statement. To call Isabelle a "friend" now, would be like saying the sky is green. Nevertheless, he maintained his regal composure.
"Let's go inside! I have loads of activities for us to do," Anna said, leading the way.
Kristoff followed, watching as Jon joined his mother and aunt. Isabelle tagged along as well, but not before turning around to give Kristoff another seductive smile. The sooner this woman leaves, the better, he thought.
True to his recent nature, Kristoff kept his distance during Elsa's visit. He talked a little bit here and there with her, but generally remained quiet. Elsa was quick to notice Kristoff's change in behavior and brought it up with Anna. Neither of them knew what was causing Kristoff to behave this way, but they both agreed that it wasn't like him at all.
While Elsa was walking through the halls, on her way to the bathroom, she saw that Anna's door was wide open, and Isabelle was inside. Before she could say anything, she saw that Isabelle was putting on Anna's necklace, admiring how she looked with it in the mirror. She was also talking to herself.
"This is a fine necklace you gave your wife, Kristoff, but it looks much better on me than her."
She wandered over to Anna's closet, picking out one of her dresses.
"And such fine taste she has too, but my body would look intoxicating in this dress, especially with my voluptuous figure. It would sure drive Kristoff wild."
When she put the dress back, she turned around, and saw Elsa standing in the doorway.
"Oh, hi there!" Isabelle said, feigning innocence.
"What are you doing in Anna's room?" Elsa asked.
"Oh, I was just admiring her things," Isabelle lied.
"Ok, but I don't think Anna would appreciate you looking through her things without her permission," Elsa explained.
"Oh, how silly of me! I should have known better," Isabelle laughed. "I'll be going now."
When Isabelle left the room, Elsa thought about what had just occurred. She wasn't just admiring Anna's things; she was making sensuous remarks about them. The one that disturbed her the most was the comment about the dress driving Kristoff wild. Did Isabelle have a thing for Kristoff?
By the end of the weekend, Elsa said goodbye to everyone. She considered telling Anna what she had seen Isabelle doing, but decided against it. This would surely worry Anna. As Queen of Arendelle she had enough things on her plate. Moreover, Isabelle would be leaving soon, so she wouldn't see the two of them again. When she mounted the Nokk in the harbor, Elsa the bad feeling about Isabelle remained. Did she make the right call in not telling Anna? The two had promised each other that they'd never keep secrets from one another ever again. Riding off across the water, she tried to take solace in the fact that Isabelle was leaving soon. Whatever it was about her, Elsa knew that something wasn't quite right.
