AN: so, just to start, this is the first chapter with a couple of the original cast being introduced. i wont be adding any of the characters onto the list of important characters. i intend to have characters from the past that will be apart of the story be added there, suchs as yugi or joey depending on how the story turns out. i am sort of figuring it out as i go. i have the main villain in mind for the story (and no its not a villain from the past, though they will be making an impact in the story). if you have an idea, don't hesitate to comment. As always, i don't own Yu-gi-oh, though there are some days that i wish i did.

Chapter 3: Domino city

Ramzie watched as the portal surrounded him, swallowing him and taking him to who knows where. Time it self seemed to stop, as the portal took so long to close, he could see in slow motion as Malina's face morphed into one of horror. It felt like hours as the portal fully closed and Ramzies vision went black. He was still conscious, but that wasn't exactly a good thing. He felt like his body was being split into pieces. His whole being felt as if he was on the verge of death.

This continued for hours until a light began shinning behind Ramzie. It got brighter and brighter until Ramzie was blinded by that light and a searing pain. To an unsuspecting person walking the streets of Domino city, they would simply see a man in his twenties falling out of an ally way.

Ramzie slammed onto his back as he landed onto the street corner. Ramzie groaned as he slowly brought him self up to a sitting position. "ow..."

Ramzie looked over his person, making sure everything was on him, only for him to find something missing or should I say, part of something. Ramzie had pulled his dueling deck from his duel disk. There was only about 11 cards from the actual deck. "oh no no no no!" he began freaking out, flipping through the cards again. All of his blue-eye's cards where gone, only a hand full of spells where still there with two traps. His only monsters that where there was the regular Red-Eyes black Dragon.

"my deck was practically destroyed!" Ramzie shouted, his voice full of anger, but that's not the only problem he had. Ramzie placed the remainder of his deck into his deck box and stood up from where he ended. "get a grip, Ramzie. We need to figure out where we ended up first." Ramzie looked at his surrounding and felt a dawning horror strike his brain. He was standing in front of a large building with a large round top. At the front gate Ramzie could see his favorite monster as a statue next to a large KC. He was in Domino City of the past. Not only that, he was standing in front of the Kaiba Corporation.

"oh I am in trouble..." Ramzie said to himself, before turning and stopping himself as his eyes once more getting even wider. Behind him was just a series of duels, all with duel disks. Large crowds where clumping together watching the action. "oh and it just got worse." one of the people turned from one of the crowds and spotted him.

"HEY, that guy has a duel disk!" he shouted, causing a handful of people to turn and some even began walking towards Ramzie. It don't take long for them to start running at him, all of them shouting, "We're going to duel! Give me that Locator Card!"

"aaaahhhh!" Ramzie screamed out before turning and running away.

"GET HIM!" someone in the crowd shouted. Ramzie ran towards the the ally way next to the building right next to him. He wasn't really watching where he was going and knocked some guy with a wild hair style and purple shirt. The guy fell onto his backside and began shouting at Ramzie, but Ramzie ignored him as he ran, shouting over his shoulder, "Sorry about that!" as he ran.

Ramzie kept running until he arrived at what looked to be some kind of dock. Ramzie ducked down behind one of the warehouses and waited. As he waited, no noise came. Well, except for the fact that he could hear a helicopter over head. Ramzie waited for it to leave before he would start walking, only that didn't happen. Instead a rope ladder dropped down in front of warehouse he was hiding behind. For once in Ramzies life, he was wishing he had taken one of the Enforcer watches from the time force unit before ending up here.

Ramzie watched as a young boy came climbing down the ladder. He was in a tan vest over a stripped blue, long sleeve shirt. His hair was just all over the place. At first, Ramzie was hoping that the boy would just start walking away, instead he just opened his mouth and shouted out, "Hey, I know your back there! You are in violation of battle city regulations. Your currently in the possession of a unregistered Duel Disk."

Ramzie looked down at his duel disk, before cringing. For once in his life, he was wishing it wasn't the eldest form of the damned device. "if you don't come out, you will be disqualified and your duel disk confiscated." the boy shouted out, this time with a man twice the boys size in a black three piece suite. Oh dear. Ramzie held his hands in the air and slowly approached the two.

"sorry. I'm kind of in a bind." Ramzie said.

The boy looked at the man for a second before walking to him, with a small device in his hand. "its fine, we just need to register the device."

Ramzie approached, all though rather slowly. As much as he wanted to, he didn't trust this kid wasn't with the raging mob that just chased him off. "um, you wouldn't happened to know where I could get more Duel Monster cards do ya?"

The boy raised his eye brow at the man in front of him, suspicion clear in his eyes. "Shouldn't you already have a deck? If you managed to get a duel disk, you should have a deck."

Ramzie started brain storming a response, hoping for something off the top of his head, than he decided to try the easiest explanation. "my deck got ruined. See, it was a full 40 cards, but I ended up stumbling about and tripped. My deck fell into a water grate and now I'm running only about a quarter of my capacity."

the boy nodded slightly as Ramzie was talking. Ramzie reached up to unclasp his duel disk, which was one large leather strap that covered his for arm. Once the clasp was undone he provided the device to the boy. "thank you. What name are we putting the registration?"

"Ramzie." it was his name after all and the disk had his name written onto the strap. His sister had done that when she gave it to him, that way he knew for sure it was his.

Mokuba nodded, noticing the strap, "Last name?"

Oh crap. Well, might as well go all the way, right? "Trendia."

the boy nodded and the device in his hand beeped a couple of times until a green light appeared in the corner. "alright. Here you go. Why don't you come with me? I know a place that can get you set up. My name is Mokuba Kaiba, by the way. My brother is getting this tournament going and he would be really upset knowing a duelist isn't dueling at 100%." Mokuba said, walking to the rope ladder. "mind calling me a limo Roland?" the man, now identified as Roland, nodded and pulled out a phone and began making a call.

"i appreciate it." Ramzie said, though he was a bit nervous. He needed to be careful around this boy. If he remembered his history, Mokuba was the brother of Seto Kaiba. Plus, he did just say his brother was getting the tournament up and running and from the look of it, its the battle city tournament. He needed to make sure not to alter the future with his meeting with the younger kaiba brother.

A couple of hours upon there meeting, the sleek black limo arrived. Mokuba talked about his brother and the pride he felt for being related to someone like Seto. They hopped into the limo and Mokuba told the driver, "Take us to Kame Games." he said. The driver nodded and began driving.

"Kame games?" Ramzie asked. "do they have a good selection?" at the present, he needs to get his deck rebuilt and he could figure out what he would need to do from there.

Mokuba smiled, "oh ya. My brother has all the cards he would ever need, but I have a couple of friends who swear by it. Plus one of my better friends live there. They can get you set up." mokuba said.

Ramzie nodded. "cool. Um, do you know if there is a hotel or something that I could stay at? I might need some place to stay for a bit."

mokuba got a thought full look on his face, before turning to Roland. "do you know of any where?"

"i would believe that there is a hotel about three blocks from Kame Games. We could stop by there after words, sir." Roland said, his voice stern. Ramzie was getting the feeling that Roland was some kind of bodyguard. He seemed to be willing to do anything that Mokuba would ask of him.

As the Limo drove, Ramzie couldn't help but think to himself, 'what am I doing? I can't get involved. Though, an idea I had was I may not be here for long, given how the time force unit works. Man! What am I doing here!? I should be in the middle of orientation, no a duel monsters tournament!' that thought damn near brought a tear to his eye. He wanted nothing more than to just go back home, but at the present moment he was stuck. Plus the place is crawling with duel happy thugs and running around with only 11 playable cards in a deck didn't sound like fun.

After a while of driving, the limo pulled up next to a rather small looking card shop. The out side was rather circular with multiple floors. The three of them hopped out of the vehicle, Mokuba telling the driver to wait for them.

They approached the door, seeing the open sign and opened the door. There, standing with a broom in hand was a rather short, man. He had a pair of green overalls on with a white button down shirt. His hair was grayed out and he had a rather bushy beard. Mokuba approached the man with a smile and announced there presence. "hello Mr. Muto! Iv brought someone to meet you!"

Mr. Muto turned to Mokuba and his face broke out into a smile. "well, if it isn't Mokuba! First time you've brought someone to my store." he turned to Ramzie, "welcome to Kame Games. Im Solomon Muto. Im the owner of this establishment."

Ramzie gave a small bow and took a look around. The in side of the store was pretty full. There where three sets of display counters, all full with Duel Monster's cards and games. In the first counter, which had the cash register on, Rare cards where sleeved up and had price tags on them and the more expensive cards where double sleeved with the price tag on a little index card in front of them instead of on the sleeve itself. The second counter was full with produce that had not been opened, such as full booster boxes and deck building kits. The price for each was on a piece of paper on top of the display case. The final counter was full of board games and card games that weren't duel monsters.

'if I couldn't already tell that this was the distant past, that would be the final nail in the coffin.' Ramzie thought to himself. While growing up his family would play other games that where still around, duel monsters was practically the only card game played any more. Hell, the law enforcement used it to apprehend criminals! The game stopped being a game a long time ago and became something far beyond itself.

The walls of the shop where covered in duel monsters posters and shelves with figurines and other games. It was all so strange to see everything as it was. "im currently in the process of building a new deck. My old one kind of got destroyed."

Solomon nodded his head, though his smile disappeared and his face became more stern at the mention of cards being ruined. "i hope you didn't ruin them on purpose, did you?"

Ramzie began waving his hands in front of himself, "No, I did not. See, I tripped and three quarters of my deck took a plunge into the sewage system." Ramzie then looked down, his eyes glistening a bit. It may be a lie, but those cards where important to him. The sting of there disappearance still effected him. With everything going on, Ramzie knew once he was alone, he was going to cry over his deck.

Solomon's face let up slightly, seeing the hurt in Ramzies eyes. He didn't believe the boy right away, but he was clearly hurt about his current situation. "well, I have just about any card you could need. Lets see what you have and maybe we can get your deck rebuilt for you."

Ramzie took a deep breath. The next couple of words where going to be hard to say, but he knew it had to be done. "no, im thinking of starting fresh. I loved my old deck, but it just doesn't feel right. Im just going to retire this one and build a brand new one." not really a lie, to be fair. Its just hard to replicate what he was doing before hand, especially sense hes back in an era where there where only 4 blue-eye's white dragons in circulation at the time.

Looking at the display cases, Ramzie could see exactly what sets where open at the moment. Looking around at the busters available, he tried to gauge what he could build. That's when he say a couple of old cards in the singles section that could be work playing. "hey, is there a ban list in rotation at the moment?" Ramzie asked, this was make or break. Hopefully he wasn't being an idiot asking this question.

"there's one for the battle city tournament that's in play. It should have came with your duel disk. You never did tell me when you got it." Mokuba stated. Ramzie began feeling nervous. He knew that was coming at some point. Mokuba may be still a kid, but he was smart. Luckily, he had an answer.

"a friend of mine was going to compete in the tournament. But he had an accident and didn't want the slot go to waist. So he sent me the disk and told me what it was for. So I hoped a flight here and ended up kind of stumbling around. I didn't know that it was an unregistered disk or that he hadn't gotten anything set up for it." Ramzie explained. It was a long shot, but if this worked then he might be able to convince both of them that he was just some foreigner with no idea what he was doing. Mokuba nodded, though he didn't look completely convinced.

"well, either way. Lets get you set up. Do you have money for this?" Mokuba asked. Ramzies eyes went wide as dinner plates. He reached down into his pockets and began patting his body down. Empty.

"Damnit... this is why Malina tells me to take my wallet every where." Ramzie muttered to himself. Apparently he was a little loud because Solomon and Mokuba both heard him.

"WAIT, YOUR TELLING ME YOU DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY ON YOU?" Mokuba shouted his voice ringing in Ramzie's ears.

"i forgot, okay?" Ramzie started, using his pinky to try and stop the ringing in his ear, "my sister paid for my trip here and I forgot my wallet. Can't really do anything with that." ramzie sighed before turning to Solomon. "sorry about this."

Solomon nodded. He understood better than anyone what it was like to not have money. He may own a card shop, but that doesn't mean he was swimming in cash. "i understand, though I'm sure you know, I can't just give you the cards. We will have to find some way for you to work them off."

Mokuba began thinking to himself until he got a brilliant idea. Walking out of the building and pulling out his phone he began talking into it, the last thing he said was, "hey bro. I have a question..."

Solomon and Ramzie watched as Roland and Mokuba stepped out of the building. "well, either way. I'm sure we can come to some kind of agreement. Here. All stores have been given a copy of the rules and regulations of the tournament." Solomon said, sliding over a small paper back book. "all of the cards of on the limited and forbidden list is in the back."

Ramzie took the book and smiled. Solomon was really nice. Almost all of the people from his time where rather rude about how they ran there stores. While the place was small, with no tables or any where to duel at, it had a nice aesthetic. The room store made you feel like you where walking into a candy store, which to a duelist you may as well be. Ramzie walked over to a chair with the book in hand and began reading. The rules where still the same, except the fact that the game had some kind of ante system, where the rarest card in your deck was up for grabs if you lost.

It took a little bit of time before Ramzie made it to the list and began reading cards off of it. So some of the more busted cards where off the list, like Yata-Garasu, magical Scientist, and most notably Chaos Emperor Dragon. 'unfortunate, but understandable.' Ramzie thought to himself, but looking over the list something felt off. In his time frame, other cards had been on the first ever official ban list, like harpies feather duster and graceful Charity, so why where they not on this ban list? Was it because it was a Kaiba corp function and they had there own ban list in play? If so, that was really weird. 'then again.' Ramzie mused to himself, "if Kaiba is really that rich, it probably wasn't that hard to get his own ban list for a tournament he made."

as he read, Ramzie realized one thing about the ban list. There wasn't really a banned list. If nothing else, it was just a ban list with the strongest thing being banned on it was CED and Yata. Witch of the black forest and Sangan where limited to one, which was odd. Trap cards like imperial order and Mirror force where at one and again these cards where supposed to be on the first ever ban list.

'man, im going to have to get use to this fast.' Ramzie thought to himself. As he was reading, Mokuba and Roland reentered the card shop. Mokuba had the biggest grin on his face as he approached the counter. "i know a way for him to get his deck built." he said. "why don't you sponsor him?"

Solomon looked to Mokuba confused. "sponsor?" Mokuba nodded and began to explain, "ya! If you let him build a deck with cards from your card shop and put a logo of some kind on his clothing, you could be his sponsor. Normally a sponsor pays for room and board for their athletes in a normal sporting event, so if you support him by giving him a roof over his head and a deck to play, you would get more traction with your shop and people may stop by and buy more stuff from you!"

"and this is something allowed in a dueling event?" Ramzie asked. As far as he knew, no one would sponsor a duelist in his time line. "i mean, isn't that a little expensive?"

Mokuba nodded before his smile broke even wider. "ya, I asked seto if that was even allowed. His response was, 'I don't have time to deal with a third rate amateur with deck problems. if it weeds out the duelists that don't deserve to be here, then fine.'" Mokuba said, using a imitation of his brothers voice, or at least what Ramzie assumed was his brother. "Or something like that. Honestly, Seto kind of has his own plans with this tournament, after all he is competing in it."

"well, I would need to judge your skills first," Solomon said, putting his hand up to scratch the side of his face. "Maybe one of Yugi's friends will duel you, then I can see if you have the skill to make it far in the tournament."

the moment the name Yugi was thrown out, Ramzie slowly felt a dawning horror inside his mind. He was in the era with the king of games himself still lived. Not only that, but the name Muto finally clicked in his brain. This was Yugi Muto's Grandfather. The dawning horror of exactly what was happening in this very moment was catastrophic. Ramzie felt himself go numb. He was so glad he was still sitting down, because he probably would have collapsed right there. Unfortunately for him, he was being ignored by Solomon and Mokuba as they continued to talk.

"Oh ya! Why not have him duel Joey? You taught him what you know, right? Maybe that would be a good base to judge his skill. Plus just do a game with out the duel disk. I know joeys in the tournament as well, as much as I know Seto would be so happy for the new guy to remove joey from the tournament would make him." Mokuba said, his excitement rising. "and then, who knows what could happen form there! Maybe next tournament Seto or my self could sponsor a duelist! This is so exciting!"

Ramzie looked up to Mokuba, regretting what he was about to ask. "you really want to make your brother proud, hu?"

Mokuba turned to him, his smile faltering for a second before it returned in full, "well, ya. He's my big brother and he wants me to start setting out on my own, making my own decisions. I feel this could cause a huge swing for Kaiba corp!" his eyes fell down, his smile disappearing. "I think after the battle city tournament, my brother is going to go back to dueling full time. He use to duel full time, but it would take time away from the company. I think he wants me to make these kind of choices so that I can prove that im ready to manage Kaiba Corp. with out him when he's out dueling."

Ramzie sighed, before standing. He understood Mokuba, to some extent. Malina was his elder sister, and growing up, all he ever wanted was to make her proud. She was a few years older than he was. The only reason they graduated the Time force Academy together was because Malina said she would wait for him to Graduate duel academy before applying so that the two of them could go together. "if Solomon's up for it, I would be so great full if you would become my sponsor."

Solomon smiled slightly. He could see turmoil in the young ones eyes. He was fighting with himself, and Solomon knew it. "well, lets get your deck built and I can call Yugi and his friends. I'm sure they would love to meet you." Ramzie nodded, but with a little hesitation. He hopped that his appearance wouldn't cause to much of a shift in the time lines.

AN: go ahead and review, tell me how i f****d up Mokuba and solomn. Also! I am aware that the Japanese have there own Honorifics like San for Mr. and miss, but honestly I struggle with basic English, so I would rather not insult a different culture with the wrong honorific in my work. I will just be writing it as I would for an English set up. I plan to use the dubed names and thus will be usually focus on English spelling and honorifics. Again, its so I don't screw up the honorifics because I don't know them and honestly, never intend to because my brain wont remember.
