Chapter 4 – Just a moment
I hate that man! Seriously, who does he think he is! Prince or not, he can't just insult me for being a half blood and so not a true fighter. I am a warrior, I work hard but during training he kept offending me! Just because I don't have pure Saiyan blood like him doesn't mean I'm a joke or something. Why is he training me in the first place? I was so fed up with him that I lost my posture and attacked him, he was asking for it! At the end of the training he again found it necessary to put me in complete confusion. He stood so close that his breath could be felt in my neck like an animal ready to eat. Our tails curled around each other's and his left arm around my waist. It's because we were disturbed by Malbec, otherwise something might have happened. And something in me hadn't stopped that. What's wrong with me!
Bulma stood on the balcony of their bedroom. She looked down at where her guests were eating lunch at a picnic table. Snipp's reaction that morning made her think; he was afraid of Jaco and the galactic petrol, why? Were they on the run? But Snipp wouldn't say anything, who seemed to be a well experienced traveler. And Vino, she's hiding something, there's sure something. And Lilly? She's so young, but maybe she can get something out of the girl?
Two large hands grabbed Bulma`s hips, a kiss landed in her neck. Bulma turned and looked in love at the man standing against her. Gently she asked "What are your plans this afternoon?" The Saiyan looked over the grounds of their home "I wanted to train in the gravity machine for a while." Bulma laid her head on his shoulder "do you have a moment for me?"
Naughtily looking at his wife, Vegeta walked backwards and pulled his wife with him. Through the balcony doorway, Bulma pushed the door closed behind her with her foot. Vegeta hungrily pressed his lips on hers. Bulma`s hands slid over his abs and Vegeta took off his shirt, more clothes disappeared from their bodies and together they ended up naked in bed.
Trunks walked out holding a study book; he had an important exam in two days. A voice startled him "What are you doing?" The young half Saiyan looked up and saw the blonde girl standing there. Trunks looked at his book for a moment "I'm reading about chemical compounds, it's quiet boring". Lilly let her hand slide over a page "then why are you reading it?" Trunks sighed "for school". Lilly tilted her head "school? What's that?"
Completely surprised, Trunks looked at the girl across from him. "School, the place where you learn things like... oh uh reading and writing and" Trunks's voice stuttered away. "I believe we had that too, we call it Doctrina, I was not accepted there. I will never learn to read". Trunks clapped his book shut, this happened so fast that Lilly was startled by the sound. "Oh sorry, I scared you" stammered Trunks.
Uncomfortably, the girl smiled "Doesn't matter; think it is still scars of war." The purple-haired boy automatically grabbed Lilly's hand, searching for the right words. Then he thought of something "But you can read, here on Earth we have books for the blind!" Lilly squeezed Trunks' hand "just how?" Trunks got a wide smile on his face "come with me, we'll go to the library."
Not much later, the two young person's got out of a cab. Even though Trunks knew that Lilly could manage just fine he took her by the hand. They walked into the library together. Trunks walked up to a counter, a dull old woman sat behind it. "Uh ma'am, where do you have the Braille books?" The woman looked up at the boy and then she looked at the girl who was staring aimlessly before her.
"Just follow me" the woman smiled kindly. Lilly squeezed Trunks' hand for a moment "it smells weird in here" she said. Trunks giggled "those are books. Oh ma'am do you have a book for me maybe explaining what everything means in braille. This will be our first time reading". The woman stopped for a moment "first time? Oh dear, wait I have the just the book for you. Sit down I'll get it". The woman walked away and Trunks and Lilly sat down on a bench.
Quickly the woman came back "Look kids, this book you can read together. It is a children's book, but for starting to read it is best". Trunks accepted the book and flipped it open; it was the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood. Carefully Trunks grabbed Lilly`s hand and placed it on the page. Her slim fingers rubbed a lump. "That`s the O." Next letter "This is the N". Her finger slid to the next "the C " and a little further. "And that's the E, which makes the word once". Even though Lilly's eyes were blurry white, they sparkled with pride; she had read her first word".
Bulma tinkered with some metal; from the corner of her eye she saw the large sliding door to the hangar slide open. Snipp and Vino came through, busy talking. Bulma turned and Snipp made haste to the ship while Vino`s path diverged towards Bulma. When Vino arrived at the blue-haired woman, she smiled kindly as she leaned on her crutch.
Automatically Bulma stood up "do you want to sit?" she asked worriedly. Vino winked "oh no, it may look pathetic but I'm fine. By the way how is the repair of the ship going?" Bulma turned to the ship and put her hands to her sides "the ship isn't in the best condition, I'm making a connector for in the engine right now, it was completely rusted through." Vino blinked her eyes "you're making that yourself?"
Confident and proud, Bulma looked at her husband's ex "of course, I'm a genius". Vino came to stand beside her "Vegeta said it too indeed, you made his gravity machine, training equipment and his armor yourself. Impressive, V is lucky to have a woman like you." Bulma got a big smile on her face. Vino stood as straight as she could and she looked over to the ship where Snipp was working on a wheel suspension.
Together, the women walked to the ship at a gentle pace. Bulma was curious "But my husband always calls you lady. Where does that come from?" Vino sighed "I was trained as a lady in the royal family, just like my mother. You serve and take care of the royal family. But of course because of my Saiyan blood I was a bit wild and eventually started a career in the army, where I quickly became a captain."
Bulma observed the woman next to her "and your father? Didn't he live on planet Wain?" Vino began to laugh "Oh no, my father came to planet Wain once by accident. He was injured; my mother took care of him secretly, because Saiyans were not really welcome because they are seen as barbaric. Yet they fell in love. Raditz was able to tell stories about my father because he was his father's best friend apparently". The two women stopped by the ship. Bulma let her hand slide over the ship.
Snipp came away from the wheel and looked at the women "Captain, cutie there is a problem look" Bulma grabbed a cable from Snipp`s paw "where is this supposed to be?" sighed Bulma. Snipp began to explain about the suspension and the automatic steering of the wheels. Vino tapped the ship with her cane a few times "Snipp make the ship fly again, I don`t want any more incidents like when planet Basho." Snipp gave a salute "Ai captain." Vino turned and walked away. Bulma watched her for a moment she saw how neatly Vino tried to walk while leaning her on the crutch with each step with her right leg.
As both Bulma and Snipp went back to work on the ship Bulma asked curiously "What happened on planet Basho?" Snipp growled "The ship wasn't quick enough off the ground, a creature came onto the ship and started chewing on the wing. Vino jumped out of the ship and with her stick knocked the creature off the ship. Not without a scratch of course." Bulma looked at the door again for a moment "wow, she's pretty badass."
Trunks walked out of the library with Lilly. She was holding a book tightly to her chest. Observing, he looked at the girl "So fancy some coffee?" Lilly began to smile uncomfortably "coffee?" Trunks put his hand on her lower back "Never had coffee? Come, you have much to learn about the earth" Together they walked down the busy street, Lilly walked close beside Trunks. They stopped at a coffee shop and they went inside. Trunks ordered 2 coffees and they sat down by the window.
"Watch out, it's still very hot" warned Trunks. The girl smelled the hot drink "kindda smells funny". Smiling, Trunks observed the girl. "Hey Lilly, how do you like Earth so far?" Lilly stared down "a little strange, everything seems so mild here. Like there's no world outside of this one." Trunks thought for a moment "is true too, for normal earthlings there is no world outside of this either. There aren't that many aliens coming to earth either".
Lilly took a sip of coffee and her face twitched "oh bitter". She took another small sip and stuck out her tongue for a moment. Trunks laughed very loudly "that's coffee indeed. But if you find it too bitter you can always put sugar in it." Lilly shook no "no let me get used to it." But her face twisted again. The young part- Saiyans giggled.
Then a loud voice came from the counter, two masked men waving guns around. "Now all the money or there will be casualties!" Lilly tilted her head "that doesn't sound good." Trunks stood up and balled his fists "robbers" he growled. Lilly stood up and calmly walked towards the men. Trunks crossed his arms, this he had to see.
"Uh hello, would you guys maybe like to leave? I was just drinking coffee for the first time and I was just starting to get used to the taste". The men turned around and looked at the blind girl in surprise. The fattest man grinned "sweetheart, this is a robbery, we have guns. You're in our way, get out of the way." Angry, Lilly grabbed the man by his collar "don't call me sweetheart" and she threw him over her head to the ground. The other man aimed his pistol at Lilly, but Trunks was faster than the man grabbed the gun, pushed it up and knocked the man out cold. The whole cafe was silent. Except for some groans from the fat man on the ground.
Almost shyly cautiously Lilly grabbed Trunks' forearm "coffee is less boring than I thought. What are we going to do next?" Trunks put a hand on her hand "we'll take your book and we will go to the park, time for Hotdogs." Like a happy child Lilly hopped over to her book grabbed it off the table and walked over to Trunks again. She slipped her arm through his arm and together they walked out of the coffee shop, leaving a surprised group of guests behind.
Malbec just spoke to me, obviously about the incident on the training ground. As if I can do anything about it? Well, maybe there is, but somehow I don't want to do anything about it. In the beginning Vegeta surprised me, but now I should have expected this. Well, he is coming closer and closer. That damn prince completely confuses me and now I've lost my temper against my best friend. Maybe I was too hard on Malbec, we've been friends all our lives. But something he said keeps bothering me, am I interesting because I'm the only female Saiyan left? And only because of that? I have to find Vegeta, I have to know this.
The prince of all Saiyans walked out of his gravity machine, hands in his pockets and a towel over the shoulders. From the kitchen he picked up a large bottle of water and made his way to the garden where he sat quietly on a lawn chair. He lowered his face into his hands for a moment; he had been feeling strange all day.
A woman's voice spoke to him "let me guess, you got word from Nappa and he's coming to see us?" Vegeta looked up in surprise; Vino took a seat opposite him on a chair. Vegeta smiled "that one is fortunately not alive anymore, it failed during a fight". Vino continued to look at him "and Raditz?" she asked cautiously. Vegeta sighed "he too made a mistake during a fight". Now she looked down sadly "that's uh too bad". Vegeta knew how good friends she had become with Raditz during that time.
"But Raditz brother lives here, Kakarot you have seen during your arrival. They call him Goku here". The two former lovers looked at each other. "No! Was that the little brother?" Vegeta nodded yes. Vino looked through the garden for a moment. "But why were you sulking like that just now?" Vegeta looked angry "I wasn't sulking, I was just thinking deeply." Vino crossed her arms "V you were sulking. I know you."
A big sigh escaped Vegeta "Fine, I was just thinking about the old days. If I had gone with you, maybe you would have still had a home". Vino took Vegeta`s hand and looked at him worriedly " my prince, we were young. Communication was never our strongest point towards each other". Then the garden door flew open and an angry Bulma stormed out.
With fright Vino let go of Vegeta hand, surprised they looked together at the blue haired woman, Snipp ran after with his short legs and called "Bulma now wait". With force she pushed a box between the ex-lovers and yelled "what's going on here?" Vino stared at the box with wide eyes. Vegeta stood up "Bulma!" he shouted. The woman looked at her husband angrily "you brought a dirty liar into our house."
At that moment Trunks and Lilly walked up, Trunks looked surprised at the angry and startled adults. Lilly pressed the book closer to her chest and also looked at the box on the table. "Mommy is that?" she stammered. Vino let her eyes fall closed, a tear escaped and ran down her cheek. Then the white-haired woman stood up "Bulma congratulations, you found wine. Indeed, we did not give the last carafe to Beerus, but it is not what you think". Bulma and Vino stared at each other. Lilly grabbed Trunks by his upper arm, she almost looked scared. Vegeta looked at Vino and called out "talk my lady, what is the meaning of this?"
