Chapter 3

The Mind Stone

Vision woke up at four 'o'clock in the morning, and the sun was not due to rise for a while. He strangely had been experiencing fatigue, as he stayed up most of the night, being with Wanda, but also being pained by the yellow stone on his head. He stood by the window and looked out into the empty street. Now would be a good time to go on a walk. Vision had shifted into his human form, only the stone showing on his forehead. As he stared out, something seemed to stir within the stone again. The pain made him wince and he held a hand to his head to ease it.

"Vis," Wanda sat up in the bed, looking at him with concern in her eyes. "Are you all right?" She stood and walked up to him.

"It's the stone again." Vision told her. "It…it feels like it's trying to warn me about something. Do you think you could use your magic?"

Wanda held up a hand to his cheek and smiled, as though to give her answer. Vision gently kissed the palm of her hand and held it up to his forehead, over the stone. Wanda used her magic to see if she could get anymore information from the yellow crystal. What was it trying to warn Vision of?

Wanda shook her head and lowered her head. "All I feel is you." She said.

The couple dressed in their coats and scarves before going out on a morning walk. The sun still had not risen, but they liked it when the streets were quiet and empty. Vision was in complete human form, even hiding the stone- just in case someone saw them.

"You know… we've been together for a while now…" Vision said, quickly becoming nervous. "And I just…it's nice…I just…" He stammered and shook his head. He stopped in his tracks and turned to Wanda. "I'm just going to come out and say it…I think it works."

"It works." Wanda agreed calmly.

"Yes." Vision added.

Before the couple could discuss anything further, two figures appeared. They were both tall and wearing dark clothing. One appeared to be a man wearing a hood. He was skinny and carried a long spear. The other appeared to be a woman. She had a scorning face and horns growing out of the side of her head. They immediately began to attack them. Wanda was left to battle the horned woman, while Vision flew off with the skinny man. Vision was stabbed and forced to turn back to his red and blue android skin. Wanda rushed to his aid, knocking the two attackers off their feet.

"Vis!" Wanda gasped. "Are you okay?!"

"I think…" Vision winced. "That we should have stayed in bed…"

As the train went by, Wanda could sense someone watching in the distance. She turned to see Captain America standing across the railroad. He was joined by Falcon and The Black Widow. They stabbed the skinny man. The woman looked furious.

"We don't want to kill you." Natasha said. "But we will."

"You won't get another chance." The woman said, before pressing a hand onto the man's chest. The two ascended into a large spaceship and it immediately took off.

Team Captain America had a ship of their own to get to. They helped Vision into the ship and Natasha helped Wanda with Vision's injury.

"I thought we had a deal." Natasha said. "I thought we were going to keep in touch, check in."

"We're sorry." Wanda defended. "We just needed more time."

"Were to, Cap?" Falcon asked.

"Home." Steve replied.
