2018 Jujutsu High
Beep! Beep!
Kiyoko slammed her fist down on her phone. She didn't fully understand why she had to wake up so early on a weekend (perhaps she had forgotten?). She had no classes, and the last she checked, there were no missions planned out for her. Practically rolling out of bed, Kiyoko slipped on a pair of slippers, and grabbed a pouch off her desk that had her toothpaste, hairbrush, etc. She stepped out into the hallway where she was met with Panda stepping out of his own room.
He raised his hand in greeting, "Morning Kiyoko."
Her eyes were still fuzzy, so while she recognized Panda's voice, she only saw a blob of white and black. "Mornin" she waved back before slipping into the bathroom which was only down the hall. She set down her pouch on the sink, looking into the mirror she gasped at her appearance. Her shoulder length hair was sticking up and frizzy, and her eyes were half closed with dark circles under them. Embarrassment crept up on her as she realized she had greeted Panda while looking like that. Yesterday had been a rough night, she had gotten back to the school late due to missing a bus while she was out in the city. Earlier, before school had started, Kiyoko had found a flyer advertising a rigorous first aid, cpr, and medical training course. Having a fascination in medicine and science, and knowing a career as a jujutsu sorcerer was dangerous, Kiyoko signed up. However, she failed to acknowledge the time it took to travel to the class and the intensity of it. She had fallen asleep at 3am after arriving to the dorms late and memorizing anatomy and taking notes from the textbook.
After noting that she still had pages that she still needed to read from the textbook, Kiyoko began to fall into her regular morning routine. First, being as indecisive as ever, choosing how to put her hair up: french braid or half up half down. Eventually, she settled for the latter. Tying two strands of hair behind her head. While she was brushing her teeth, the door opened revealing Maki who was also dressed in her pajamas.
Kiyoko tried saying "morning" however failed when all that came out was something that could barely pass as a "morning" and a mouth full of toothpaste.
"Gross" Maki dodged an incoming piece of toothpaste, "you could have just waved." Although Kiyoko had joined the school late into her first year, due to issues of settling Milo in, she quickly got to know the other first years. At first, she had felt a little lost since she didn't belong to any family line of jujutsu sorcerers, something that she and Yuta had bonded over (even though he later found out he was a distant relative of Gojo).
"Sorry" Kiyoko apologized after spitting out the remaining toothpaste. Kiyoko glanced at her phone, checking the time: 8:46 am.
"Maki, what's today?"
Maki gave her a look, "you seriously don't remember?" When Kiyoko's face didn't change, Maki continued on, "we're meeting the new first years." A look of realization spread across Kiyoko's face. Riiiiggghhht. She remembered being excited about that a couple of weeks ago.
Maki turned back towards the mirror, brushing her hair into a ponytail, "you know maybe you shouldn't play Mario Kart every night until two am with Inumaki and Panda." Kiyoko looked away sheepishly. Two months ago, she had found an old tv and a Wii at a junkyard. She had saved up money, so she decided to buy it all. She established Friday's as her game days, where Inumaki and her would meet up and play together. Except this week was especially bad, stressed with work, she met up with Panda and Inumaki practically every night, staying up almost until 1. Maybe her planning and decision making skills were not the best.
"You know that I'm right." Of course she was right, it was just there was no proper comeback Kiyoko could think of.
"When does this thing even start?"
"Nine."
"Nine?" Kiyoko glanced at her phone: it was 8:52 now. "Oh! We really have to hurry!" Before she could even hear Maki's response, she dashed out of the bathroom. Once she was in her room, she practically threw on her uniform: a white shirt under a dress with two shoulder straps. The symbolic pin of jujutsu tech was on each strap of her dress. Slipping on her shoes, Kiyoko gave herself one quick glance over. In her reflection, she smiled contently at her outfit, feeling slightly proud of herself for managing to appear put together. However, her smile wavered as her eyes rested on the scar on her forehead. Although overtime she had gotten used to it, almost as if it didn't exist, she couldn't help but remember her life when it was just her and Milo. A sudden buzz of Kiyoko's phone snapped her out of her thoughts: it was Maki texting where she was. It wasn't time to think about the past now, Kiyoko should be more worried about meeting her juniors, potential future sorcerers. Resting her hand on the handle of her dorm room door, Kiyoko took a deep breath before stepping out.
the wii will be a plot point later... I think.
