[Talking about what ifs]

It was a rare night for the recently married couple.

The Shepherds were always busy, even well into the night. Robin was usually spending long nights drawing up plans, or thinking of new tactics for future fights, meanwhile Severa was usually patrolling the camp, finishing her daily chores, or just doing nighttime prep.

But today was different. The Shepherds had taken a fort from Walhart's forces and had a couple of days to catch their breaths. So tonight many of The Shepherds were taking the day off.

Robin had gone shopping with Morgan and Severa that day. Morgan woke them early claiming "The best attacks happen when the enemy least expects it, so shopping must follow the same logic, right?". She was so energetic and cheerful that neither of the parents could refuse her.

Now Morgan was fast asleep. She and Nah got along so well that Nah allowed Morgan to bunk with her while they stayed at the fort.

After a long day together the pair had returned to the room The Shepherds had assigned to them. However after getting ready for bed the 2 fell into an awkward silence.

They usually didn't have this problem. When they were out and about, conversations came up naturally and would flow easily from there, and at nights they were usually either so tired they fell asleep quickly, or quickly wore themselves out.

So there Robin and Severa lay, awkwardly quiet. At this point Robin figured they would just fall asleep without saying anything. Until…

"Hey Robin … your old memories do you want them back?" Severa said quietly, still looking at the bricks that made up the ceiling.

"Hmm … I guess I would like to know more about my mother. I learned about my father after we met Validar but my mother took me away from there so I wish I could talk to her." Robin aired his feelings honestly giving the idea some thoughts.

Severa laid there quietly, silently debating whether to continue the topic or return to silence. After a bit of time she continued her questions.

"If you remembered something important that you forgot, what would you do?"

"I'm afraid I'm gonna need more information." Robin return

"Say ... you found … you had a family waiting for you, what would you do?" Severa asked slowly.

"Well I'd hope they'd accept us in, I'd love to introduce you and Morgan to any siblings or extended family that I might have." Robin spoke almost wishfully.

"No you dolt." Severa said sternly, turning on her side to look at Robin. Turning to match her gaze Robin could see she had a serious and worried expression on her face.

"I'm asking, what if you were already married and had kids." Severa asked sternly. Just the thought was enough to get her eyes wet.

It took a moment to collect himself and his thoughts but he never broke eye contact with his wife.

"I'd definitely take responsibility and help them out, I may not be the same person but I couldn't act like my past life didn't happen and abandon them." Robin didn't know anything about his past life other than his name. He almost saw that man as another person, the day that this Robin was truly born was the day Chrom and the rest found him in that field.

However he knew he owed a debt to his past self, if not for them Robin wouldn't be alive today.

Severa wasn't exactly happy with that response, she rolled over and looked away from Robin.

"Sev … what's the matter?" Robin asked, looking at the back of his wife's head.

"And what if you forget me and Morgan one day, will you just take responsibility for us and move on?" Severa said softly. "Whatever it was a dumb question just forget it." Came a curt reply before Robin could respond.

Robin finally understood. Closing the gap Robin wrapped his arms around his wife bringing her into a hug. Severa wriggled trying to worm her way out of the grasp.

"Severa … I love you." Robin said it clearly into her ear. No matter how many times he said it, Severa blushed bright red every time she heard it.

Having stopped her wiggling Robin continued. "I want a family, a big one. But I couldn't see it being my family without you and Morgan. I want to explore the world and see it for my own 2 eyes. But I want you and Morgan to be with me when I do."

Severa turned back around, looking into her husband's eyes with her wet eyes, sniffing in to keep her nose from running.

Robin couldn't help but think this childish reaction was cute.

"And what if you forget about us, Morgan and me? What if you forget about your family and wake up as a new person again?" Severa continued her questions.

"Find me." Robin answered full of resolve. "Find me, and if any part of me remains, then I'll remember, because all of me loves you." Robin said so firmly not even Fredrick the weary could doubt it.

"Hehe, you dork" Severa smiled "Did you get that cheesy line from Inigo? Guess I don't have to worry, you won't get any girl to fall for you with lines like that."

Now that they were talking Robin and Severa made light chatter through the night.

[Morning]

Morgan bounced through the halls up to her parents room Nah following quickly behind.

"Come on Nah let's see if our families want to have a group breakfast in town, I'll ask my mother and father." Morgan said to the half Manakete.

Nah wanted to say something but Morgan had already grabbed the handle of the door and pulled it open. She readied herself to do her signature wake up bed dive but stopped when she got a good look into the room.

Shutting the door quietly she had a smile dropped across her face as Nah finally caught up.

Morgan, the only one with enough energy to talk, said "On second thought let's have breakfast without our parents, I bet we can get Inigo to buy us something nicer if we agree to go for tea."

Before Nah could utter a word Morgan grabbed her hand and dragged her friend down the hall away from her parents room.

For inside the room alight from the morning sun were her parents, sleeping soundly hand in hand.

[Author's Note]

Sorry about the long delay. I was hoping to get a short story out every couple of weeks or so but life seems to happen. Hopefully my time management and my inspiration will get better as time goes on. I wanted to write a little one off this time focusing a bit on Robin's character. Thank you for those who read this, and I appreciate all the reviews or comments. If you have any constructive criticism I'd be happy if you'd share it.

Once again thanks for reading
