Chapter 2 - Trouble in Tempest

It was a nice sunny afternoon; lunchtime had just ended, and I was bored for the first time in what seemed like forever.

Ever since the Great War had ended, I was doing nothing but paperwork, figuratively speaking.

But today, I got an unusually short stack of paperwork, which motivated me to work extra hard so I could be free to have fun for the whole afternoon. The result? Me finishing at 10:30 AM and getting the rest of the morning off.

I'd checked on my parallel self, helped out with Geld's group's work, visited Bester, Veldora, Ramiris, and their research, and practiced my sword skills with Hakurou a bit, and now I'm kinda bored.

It's funny how when your hands are full you can think of a million other things you want to do instead but once you have free time you can't think of anything to do, and you become bored. This situation I'm in right now is just like that.

I was just thinking along these lines when I got interrupted by a sudden loud BANG of the door. A certain overexcited fairy came barging in, followed by an equally excited Veldora.

"RIMURUUU~!" Ramiris shouted, unable to contain her excitement. I wish you would stop constantly barging in so suddenly, I thought.

"I discovered a way to a new world!" That caught my interest.

I sat down, and motioned for them to do the same. "Tell me, what do you know about this new world?"

...

As it turns out, Ramiris and Veldora knew little to nothing about this new world. They had just successfully completed the device that will transport one from this world to that one and vice versa at the punch of a button, but hadn't tried it out yet as they wanted to quickly show me. So that's what you were working on in the research lab, I thought you two were just goofing off again.

Then, the door opened again and who could it be but Shuna. "What's this I hear about a new world discovered?" Shuna said as she walked in.

"Ah well Ramiris discovered a new world and I thought it was interesting so-"

"You still have work to do, Rimuru-sama," Shuna said with her sweet-but-scary smile on her face.

"Vacation! Think of this as a vacation! Everyone needs a break from work," I complained. Shuna opened her mouth to speak;
At this time I knew I had to do what I thought I would need to do. And that is inviting her along.

I interrupted Shuna; "How 'bout this: you can come along with us too Shuna!"

"As Rimuru-sama just said, everybody needs a break sometimes!" Shuna was wearing the type of smile which one couldn't tell if it were fake or not. I didn't even have time to think about that when the door flew open again and in came Shion.

"I will NOT let Shuna have all the fun with Lord Rimuru!" Shion said loudly.

"Nor will I let only Shion accompany Rimuru-sama without me." Aaaand here comes Diablo.

"I want to come too," said a quiet voice. Chloe.

Just how many of you are just hiding outside the doorway eavesdropping on us? Just as I thought that, a loud BOOM was heard from outside the building, and a moment later the door came crashing down and Milim flew into the room.

"Wahahahahaha! I'm here to play, bestie! And this time, Frey's not gonna drag me back to that stupid heaven!" Milim yelled, with noticeably more happiness and excitement in her eyes and voice.

"Wait, you mean you finished your work, too, Milim?" I asked, totally not expecting this.

"Yep! I had only a little bit of work today so I finished it early!" Wow, just like me. I'm even doubting if this is a coincidence, I thought.

Then I had an idea. "Ramiris, each of those devices transports one person, right? How many did you make?"

"Only one," Ramiris replied with a small voice.

"Hmm," I whispered under my breath. I started thinking for a second. "Say, how're you all feeling for a group vacation?" I said with a mischievous smile on my face.

(This chapter's title is probably the worst of all, there is no trouble at all in Tempest. Though there is something like it, but not Tension, I'll greatly appreciate suggestions for a replacement title.)
