He made a mistake.
Vlad Masters realizes this when it's too late to take it back or to fix it. He can't go back to Earth, not after all that he did, not after all he caused. Not when he knows what could be waiting for him. All of his hard work ruined and he can't even bring himself to go back to face the consequences. Even a trip to the Ghost Zone would be too risky, lest he get Daniel's attention.
Maddie would be furious with him. He has no idea how she took the news of his being half ghost, nor how she would take Daniel's. He doesn't know if Daniel is being experimented on at this very moment. But he knows that if he goes back, knowing that she knows everything he did by now, then he likely would be. His heart - his core - just can't take that.
So for now, he will just sit. He will think. He will get this figured out eventually.
And in the meantime, he will just watch the stars.
