Luz stepped out of the portal and took a deep breath through her nose.
"As much as I like the Boiling Isles, it's nice to be able to breathe without my lungs burning."
"Have you ever had that problem before?" Amity asked.
"When I first arrived last year. It wasn't bad, but caused small breathing problems that took some time for me to get used to." Luz said, "Come on, my house is this way."
Willow and Amity were nervous, they've only been dating Luz for... ten minutes, and they're already meeting Luz's mom. Amity and Willow followed Luz as she skipped along the over grown path.
"Plants here are so... different." Willow said, "Is grass here always green?"
"Yeah. Grass here is naturally green." Luz said, "So are the trees."
A bunny came jumping out of a bush and Willow and Amity got in front of Luz.
"Stay back, you fluffy demon!" Amity said.
Luz giggled.
"Guys, relax. It's a harmless little bunny rabbit." Luz said, getting down and petting it, "Hey, little fella."
Luz pet the rabbit and gave it a little kiss. She let it go and it hopped away.
"Well, better not keep my Mami waiting."
They continued to follow Luz until they got to a house with... far too many windows.
"So, this is your house?" Amity asked.
"Yep! This is where I grew up!" Luz said, "come on!"
Luz knocked on the door and it was opened by her mother. Luz hugged her mom, keeping her trademark grin on her face.
"Mami! I missed you!"
"Mija, you've only been gone for a week."
"It's felt longer." Amity cleared her throat, "Oh yeah. Miami, you remember when Eda told us about the Red String?"
"Si."
"Well, when I woke up this morning. I had red strings on my fingers."
"So you… have a soulmate? Wait, did you say Strings? As in plural?"
"I have four soulmates. Meet two of them. This is Willow and Amity."
Camila looked at them, already knowing enough about them from what Luz told her.
"So, this is your best friend and crush?"
Luz blushed and Amity and Willow snickered.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Noceda, I'm Amity. Amity Blight." Amity said, holding out a hand.
Camila smiled and shook Amity's hand.
"Nice to meet you, Amity. Luz talks about you all the time."
Luz started blushing again.
"I-I-I do not!"
"Really? Because when you first told me about the Boiling Isles, you wouldn't stop talking about how the girl named Amity has stolen your heart."
All of a sudden, Luz really hated this idea. Who decided to do this anyway... oh, yeah, it was her. She looked at her mom grabbing a book and she started panicking.
"Mami, no! Not the baby pictures!"
Later that night, Luz was sitting in the Owl House's living room. She really regrets bringing Amity and Willow to meet her mom, that was a bad idea. Why did she have to show them the baby pictures? Luz was knocked out of her thoughts when she heard a knock on the door. She saw Eda walk over to it and grab the handle.
"Who would be out right now? There's a Boiling Rainstorm." Eda said.
She opened the door and Luz's eyes widen.
"Boscha?"
Boscha looks at Luz.
"I-I-I had nowhere else to go." Boscha closed her eyes and hugged herself, "P-p-please."
If this was a normal day, Luz would've shut the door in her face, and she was considering it, but there was something about Boscha that prevented her from doing so. Boscha had to have walked through the boiling rain for a reason, right?
"Come on." Luz said, "Let's get you out of the rain."
