Layla and I were listening to the guys sing, and both of us agree that this song is going to be another hit.
"Gustavo, the song is great." Kendall said as we entered the room.
"Ehm, of course, it is great. I wrote it, but the band isn't great. What's missing is the secret rock and roll ingredients." Gustavo said as he went from one of the guys to the other.
Each of the guys kept saying different things, but I didn't know where my uncle was going with this, and I'm pretty sure I don't want to know.
"The bad boy. The ill-tempered rebel with a flair for synchronized dance. One of you has to be it. I say it's Kendall." Gustavo said as he moved next to us.
I just shook my head because I know that this has to be Griffin's idea, and my uncle has to do what he says or he loses his job. My uncle and I may not see eye to eye, but I don't want him to lose his job.
"Gustavo, why do we need a bad boy?" Kendall asked.
"Gustavo, it's Griffin. The band needs a bad boy. Bye." Griffin said in a voicemail.
See what I mean. I believe Griffin has good intentions, I hope, but he needs to let my uncle do his job or the demos won't ever get done.
"He's driving me crazy! But he's also right because the bad boy is rock and roll tradition. (We were then led into the hallway for a lesson that none of us really wanted) Notice the back turned to the rest of the band. Bad boy. (One poster down) Notice the back turned, the dark clothing, and the scowl. Bad boy. (Two posters down)." my uncle said as we went from poster to poster.
"But there can only be one bad boy per group, as learned from the bad boys experiment of '95." Kelly said before removing a poster to show us the poster of all bad boys.
"Didn't sell a single cd." Gustavo said as he shook his head.
"But we're best friends. We never turn our backs on each other." Kendall said.
"No." "Nope." "Not gonna happen." Logan, Carlos, and James said together.
"Then let me let you in on another rock and roll secret. The bad boy is also the most popular member of the band, makes the most money, and dates the hottest models." Gustavo said.
Layla and I shared a look because we knew exactly where this was going.
"I can be bad." "I'm so bad." "Look at my back. Look at my back." Logan, Carlos, and James said together as they acted like fools.
We all went back to the Palm Woods and I felt bad for momma Knight because she screamed when the guys busted in the door.
"Gustavo says that one of them has to be a bad boy." I explained to momma Knight when she noticed the difference in the guys.
"But you're all nice boys. Oh, I am so glad you're here. There's a maniac on the loose!" momma Knight said.
Kendall and I were confused but Katie was shaking her head from behind momma Knight, so we decided to play along.
"Oh, well, we'll be extra careful then, mom. We promise." Kendall said.
"We want pizza! Now!" Logan, Carlos, and James exclaimed as they got our attention.
Momma Knight turned around and I had to hide a laugh from the 360 the guys just did. They can try to act bad all they want, but when it comes to momma Knight, no one beats her.
The next day the guys and I went to the studio so 3 of 4 guys could prove that they are bad boys. I sat in a chair and Kendall sat on the arm and we just watched the scene unfold before us. My uncle didn't like any of them and then walked over to us.
"So Kendall is the bad boy. You're gonna need to start wearing black clothing and talking deeper and slower." my uncle told Kendall.
"You mean be fake. I can't." Kendall said.
"Besides, he's terrible at faking." I added.
The guys agreed with me because we all know it's the truth.
"No, Kelly is terrible at faking. I can always tell when she lies to me." Gustavo said.
"I have never... lied... to you." Kelly laughed nervously.
"See?" Gustavo questioned.
"Gustavo, we just don't want anything fake about our band." Kendall said.
I agreed with him because not every freaking band needs a bad boy.
"Your band? Your band? This is my band. Are you telling me that you're gonna ignore me and Griffin and the record company and not be our bad boy?" Gustavo asked.
"Yeah, pretty much." Kendall replied.
"Bad boy." Gustavo said.
Kendall stomped his foot and I could tell that the others were sort of jealous that my uncle wanted Kendall as the bad boy instead of them.
"Get Griffin over here." Gustavo told Kelly.
Griffin showed up and I have a felling that something is about to happen and it's not going to be good.
"Why isn't his back turned to the rest of them?" Griffin asked.
"Because he won't do as I say! Which makes him the bad boy." Gustavo replied.
"And I don't turn my back on my friends." Kendall added.
"That's good. I respect that. But I said I wanted bad." Griffin said.
James, Carlos, and Logan then acted a fool and I just shook my head.
"A bad boy is someone parents would never let their daughters date, and I would let my daughter date any one of these boys, which is bad. Do something about this, or I will. Wait. I already did. Say hello to Wayne-Wayne." Griffin said before this dude shoved his way into the room.
I rolled my eyes and joined the guys since Wayne-Wayne shoved my uncle and he accidentally bumped into me. This guy is awful and he'll destroy Big Time Rush instead of helping them. I didn't hear anything that was said because Wayne-Wayne was confusing me by doubling his words. I only tuned back in when he left.
"We don't like him." all 5 of us said together.
"Yes, you do. You all do. He's the bad boy, and he's staying at the Palm Woods. So be good boys and make friend-friends with Wayne-Wayne." Gustavo said.
I went to say something but decided against it. We ended up at the Palm Woods and I couldn't believe anything that I was seeing.
"First he joins our band without our permission." James started.
"Now he steals our girls... who have no interest in us... but it's still not fair." Carlos added.
"And that's why we're gonna get rid of him. Kendall, get rid of him." Logan finished.
"Why me?" Kendall asked.
"Because he scares us." James replied.
Kendall stood up and I have a feeling that this isn't going to go too well.
"We are a band. And we're gonna do this together because we are not afraid of some loudmouth, backwards-hatted, droopy pants wearing... he's right behind me, isn't he?" Kendall started but stopped when he noticed our expressions.
We nodded our heads and then Kendall turned around, but moved back because Wayne-Wayne was right in his face.
"You want trouble-trouble, Ken-dork? Bring it, bring it." Wayne-Wayne said.
"Yeah, we've decided that there's only room for four members in Big Time Rush." Kendall said.
"Great-great. Yo, Griff-griff. The guys agree with me. Five in the band is too many." Wayne-Wayne said before calling Griffin.
"Sounds fresh, Wayne-Wayne. I'll stop by the studio tomorrow to see which one goes. Griff-griff out." Griffin said before hanging up.
Is he for real? He can't be serious? Can he?
"You see... my contract states that I'm guaranteed to front a band, and I picked this band." Wayne-Wayne said as he held up his contract.
"Ooh, a contract. We're so scared." Kendall said, well, more like taunted.
"My contract also states that I get a posse. Scared now?" Wayne-Wayne asked as these three guys walked up.
The guys stepped back, but I didn't budge.
"I've seen bigger." I yawned.
Wayne-Wayne didn't like that but I could tell that the guys were shocked.
"My contract also states that I get a model and I choose you." Wayne-Wayne said as he touched my cheek.
I could feel the guys tense behind me because no one touches me except my friends and family.
"You're funny, but I will say this. You touch me again and it'll be the last time." I growled as I got in his face.
Wayne-Wayne then tried to be bold and tried to kiss me, and if Layla wouldn't have shown up when she did, then I probably would've killed him. Wayne-Wayne walked off with a smirk and Layla was doing everything she could to calm me down. I didn't hear anything that was said until Carlos screamed when Camille popped up.
"Oh, relax, I didn't get the part. Maybe throwing the casting director in a flying headlock was a bad idea." Camille said.
"Camille, we're in an urgent save-our-band mission right now." Kendall said while pointing to Wayne-Wayne.
"Hey, when did Wally Dooley move to the Palm Woods?" Camille asked.
"Wally who-ley?" Logan and I asked at the same time.
"Wally Dooley. Yeah, he must be up for a bad boy role. We worked together on The Magic Middle School. Yeah, he played towel boy." Camille replied.
"What?" all of us asked.
Camille then led us to a computer and showed us. I couldn't believe that this guy is a freaking poser. He thinks that he is so bad, but in reality, he's a loser. He's about to meet his match with me even more than before after this.
"So Wayne-Wayne didn't grow up on the mean streets of Detroit." Logan said.
"He grew up in a mansion in Dallas. His dad invented toast on a rope." Camille said.
"And he's gonna kick one of us out of our band? Well we're gonna kick him out of the band, 'cause we don't need no fakey-fakey, poser-poser... he's behind me again isn't he?" Kendall started before realizing what was going on.
"Hey, Wally." Camille said.
"Hey, Camille. Oh, and news flash: this town is full of phonies, and nobody cares. Contract. Hey, what do you guys think of the name Wayne-Wayne Rush?" Wally said before then asking a question.
I snorted and he didn't seem to like that.
"Dude, once Gustavo finds out you're a phony-phony..." Carlos started.
"You are out-out." James finished.
"You guys, Gustavo is a joke, okay? Griffin has the power, and he'll get rid of whoever I say, and I say... it's you. (Wally stepped to Kendall's face) And there's nothing you can do about it, because you can't stop the Wayne-Wayne train. (He then started making train noises) Okay, stop this; it's not cool." Wally said before glaring at Kendall but waving at me.
The guys took off to tell my uncle and I filled Layla in on what was going on. She couldn't believe it either, so we headed to see my uncle and see what he was going to do. When we got there we noticed that Kendall was missing.
"What are we waiting for? I'm antsy." Griffin asked.
"We're missing Kendall." Kelly replied.
She gave me a look so I gave her a nod and dragged Layla with me to the music room. She was confused and I told her just to go along because who knows what's about to come.
"So you got rid of Kendall. My money was on Logan." Griffin said.
Really?
"Why does everyone keep saying that?" Logan asked.
"Let's hear my new bad boy band." Griffin said.
"Yeah, let's hear it." Kendall said as he walked in.
Layla and I were completely shocked by what he was wearing, but I think I know what's going on. I'm not going to say anything and let this play out.
"Ooh, it's a bad boy off." Carlos said.
"You know, one thing I know about bad boys is... they like breaking stuff." Kendall said before smashing one of my uncle's records.
My uncle and Kelly came into the room and the look of horror on my uncle's face just about killed me.
"What was that? You smashed one of my platinum records?" Gustavo exclaimed.
Wayne-Wayne copied Kendall except he smashed more than one and my uncle didn't take too kindly to that. Kelly and this other guy had to stop my uncle from coming after the guys, but something tells me that this was all staged.
"Ooh, round one of the bad boy off goes to Wayne-Wayne. Someone ring a bell. (One of Griffin's men rang a bell) What's next?" Griffin asked.
Both guys then went rhyming and I couldn't contain my laugh because of Kendall.
"Round two goes to Kendall. I can't wait for round three." Griffin said.
Layla and I exchanged looks because this can only go one of two ways, and I'm not too sure how this next round is going to go. Round three went exactly as I thought it would. Kendall went into my uncle's office, and did Lord only knows what. My uncle got his office unlocked and freaked out, and I had to be nosey, so I looked as well.
"He destroyed my office, my music awards, and he used my drawer as a bathroom." Gustavo said as he told us what happened.
"Bad boys go where they want." Kendall said as he popped his collar.
I shook my head because he really did not just say that.
"That's a new one. Original. And very, very bad." Griffin said.
Wayne-Wayne freaked out and I stuck close to Kendall, which helped because Kendall wrapped his arm around my shoulders. Wayne-Wayne then kicked Griffin below the belt and I felt bad for him.
"Too far?" Wayne-Wayne asked as Griffin's guards grabbed him.
"You're right, Wayne-Wayne. Big Time Rush should be only four." Griffin said as he got back up.
"You can't fire me. You know why? 'Cause I have... a contract. You have to put me in the band." Wayne-Wayne said.
"I have to put you in a band, just not this one. They already have a bad boy." Griffin said as his men moved Wayne-Wayne.
"But I don't want to wear these clothes all the time, and I won't turn my back on my friends." Kendall said.
"Fine. And you can still date my daughter. But I want you nowhere near my desk. Griff-griff out." Griffin said before we all waved bye to Wayne-Wayne.
"You! Nice work." Gustavo exclaimed before giving the guys all smiles.
"Wha? But he... he smashed, and you... he went in..." Kelly stuttered.
"I teamed up with the hockey heads, 'cause they do have good plans." Gustavo said.
Kelly glanced over to me and Layla.
"I didn't know about it at all. I pieced it together, but let it play out." I explained.
Layla just shrugged her shoulders because she didn't have a clue.
"I was here the whole time. When did you plan this?" Kelly asked.
The guys then pulled out their music sheets and that's when it finally sunk in for Kelly.
" "Let's get rid of Wayne-Wayne"? Hey, I could've helped. I'm part of this team, too, you know?" Kelly asked.
"Yes, you are. But you're still a horrible faker liar actress." Gustavo replied.
All of us agreed and then Kelly tried to fake cry but it didn't work.
"Yeah, you're right." Kelly said.
All of us cheered and I'm so happy that my uncle is hopefully getting along better with the guys. All of them need to stick together if they're going to make it. We headed back to the Palm Woods and was shocked to see the maintenance man on the ground. We gathered on the couch to see Wayne-Wayne in his new band, and I was sitting between James and Kendall.
Kendall and James fist-bumped each other and we all just laughed. Then the news came on about this girl who was passing herself off as an 11-year old to try to land jobs. What I didn't notice was that when Kendall sat up, he had my hand in his. I couldn't help the blush that came across my cheeks and Layla gave me a grin.
"Mom, isn't that your rental?" Kendall asked.
"Yep." momma Knight replied.
Today has been crazy but I know things will get better and I can't wait.
