Two months earlier
A car pulls through the gates of Wall Maria. The commoners spread like the Red Sea as they gawked at the strange device. They've never seen a car before and were used to seeing horse pulled carriages. The queen of Gruterria raised her lip in disgust at the commoners as she glanced out the window. The windows were tinted to where the people in the car could see out, but no one would see in.
"Zahara, look at these heathens. Marley's people seem more civilized than them," she commented before settling back in her seat.
Zahara didn't comment as she looked out as well. There were people everywhere. All of them were basically wearing clothes that definitely looked poor. They passed through the gates of Wall Rose, and there were more people, but their attire seemed more fitting for the middle class. Katara's expression had calmed down to a scowl. The headguard fought the urge to roll her eyes as she sat back in her seat. The queen was really something else. It seemed as if she was already judging the city by the citizens' appearances.
They finally reached the Sina wall, and Katara made a loud outburst, shocking Zahara.
"Look! There is the civilized section! Much better; I think Paradis has a lot of potential in forming an alliance with Gruterria," Katara praised.
Zahara narrowed her eyes at the worried and fearful expressions on the noble class. They were going to be a big problem; she just knew it.
As the car comes closer to the castle, Zahara saw a bunch of guards at the entrance. She didn't blame them at all. They were foreigners. The car slowed to a gentle halt, and a guard walks over to open the door. Returning his curt nod, Katara stepped out of the car and took a deep breath.
"So, this is Paradis? The fresh air is almost overwhelming," she said as Zahara made her post next to her.
The guards gave her hostile glares. They didn't appreciate a foreigner come here and acting as if they know what goes on in Paradis. Zahara glared back. If it was up to Zahara, she would've slit their throats before they had time to scream. No one gets to glare at her majesty.
They lead them into the castle and into the main room. In that room said all the military officials from captains to commanders, sitting around the room. In the middle of all of them was a very young lady who looked a bit older than the queen's oldest daughter. The serious look on her face seemed to greet them professionally. Telling by her position, she must be the queen of Paradis. This made Zahara hide a chuckle. This room filled with grown adults was being led by a girl half their ages.
The queen and her personal guard stood in front of the queen of Paradis and her audience. The young lady smiled warmly before greeting them, "Welcome to Paradis. You must be Queen Katara and Zahara Coltsmen. You're probably tired from your journey here."
Katara bowed her head toward Historia. "We aren't too tired from the journey; it was a rather comfortable one. Now, let's talk about the alliance our two countries have."
Katara bent her head down to clear her throat, but in reality, she was trying not to show the Paradis people her smile; that creepy, big, wide-tooth smile that always screamed "power hungry". She wasn't trying to scare her allies away yet, but she couldn't help but assume that she could intimidate this young queen for Katara had decades of experience over her. She gave them eye contact once again before continuing.
"I met with the old king many years ago, and we formed an alliance. It was mostly that my training soldiers could come here and shadow your army for six months to a year. I wanted to know if you want to keep the alliance or break it since you are a new ruler."
Zahara kept a stoic face. By her hidden threatening tone, she knew the queen was spewing utter bullshit, but at the same time she was warning the newly found monarchy. The alliance had a hidden meaning under it: to keep Paradis on a leash. If Paradis decided that they no longer wanted to work with Gruterria, there was a clause stating that it meant they were declaring war on Gruterria and that if they lost, everything becomes property of Gruterria, people included. The cadet thing was just a cover up, and she felt sorry for the Paradis people.
Historia nodded to ever word the older queen had said. Historia had assumed that this lady was trying to use Historia's young age as an excuse to try and intimidate her. She had had too many people trying to take advantage of her because she looked or acted kind. Krista was gone now; Historia was here to stay
The young queen opened her mouth to give an answer as an advisor whispered something in her ear.
"Your highness, I've come to rely a message from the Survey Corps: this queen is bad news. If we renewed this old alliance, we could suffer greater consequences."
Historia leaned towards her advisor to reply, "I have a feeling if I don't do this, this powerhouse country could destroy what we as Paradis people have fought so hard to keep. You saw that car they were driving; we don't have those. No telling what advances and weapons that have up their sleeve."
She gave a tall blonde man a "We'll talk later" look.
Watching the quiet exchange, Katara glared at the advisor before shooting the Survey Corps a threatening look. She'd happily declare war on Paradis and destroy them. Gruterria was a growing empire, conquering nations left and right, and this little island was easy for the taking.
"Your majesty, I humbly agree to keep this alliance," Historia said. This earned her a glare and looks of disappointment from the Survey Corps, but the other three branches smiled and clapped their approval.
Katara saw the disapproval on the Survey Corps' faces and turned towards them. "If I may ask you guys: why don't you want an alliance with us?"
She asked that question to see which one of them would step forward with a ridiculous excuse and make her even angrier than she already was. She watched a tall, burly blonde man took a step forward.
"Because you come from outside the walls, we are weary. We haven't reached the ocean yet-"
Katara nodded in understanding as she cut him off. "I understand. It makes sense to be weary of outsiders, or, if my memory stands correct, dual citizens."
It was satisfying to see the faces of the Survey Corps higher ups become paler. She wasn't stupid at all; she knew the higher ups had spouses and children with official Gruterrian citizens. She could get her way if she threatened the lives of their spouses and children.
After the meeting, Zahara was in Katara's guest room in the palace, tidying up and whatnot. Katara was sitting in a chair reading a newspaper in the Paradis language.
"Zahara, you know what you must do now. It's time to investigate the Paradis people. I have a feeling we might have to destroy them-"
A clang was heard outside the door. Zahara swung the door open to see it was a young solider from the Military Police. Her hazel eyes stretched with fear as she gazed upon Zahara with her knife banished. Zahara looked back at Katara who nodded, signaling for her to end the girl's life.
"She has heard too much; get rid of her," the queen commanded.
Zahara yanked the girl inside so fast she didn't have time to scream. She went in but she didn't come out.
Present time
The crew had just hitched a ride on a ship to Paradis. Andante was leaning against the railing as he enjoyed the sea breeze through his curls. Robin came up next to him and looked up.
"Someone's eager to see the one they love," she teased, elbowing her friend gently.
Andante chuckled before taking a deep breath of sea air. "Yes, I can't wait to see Levi. He's all I think about right now. I want to see the look on his face when I come out of the car. I wonder if he'll be happy or mad or both; he can't seem to choose one."
Robin smiled at him. She knew what it was like to be in love; her own husband is back at home, managing the house like she asked him. She missed him and their septuplets, though her kids were full grown and having kids of their own now, she still missed her family.
Jewel walked over to her cousin and elbowed him in a playful manner. "Well, whatever it turns out to be, he'll be happy to see you; I heard he wasn't smiling at all since you know…"
They all went silent. They missed Isabelle and Farlan, probably not as much as Levi, but they did miss them. Andante sighed and looked up towards the sky.
"Yeah, I just want my baby to smile again," he said, leaning more against the railing.
The ship docked on the coast of Paradis, and titans were everywhere. The women left the men to set up the car and the repellent, which worked wonders for them. The titans made faces as they distanced themselves from the car.
It wasn't until they got closer to the city when they started seeing the dark, shadowy skin of their titans. The ones with tails overpowered the other titans, injecting them with poison to make taking them down easier, and the ones without tails fought with the other titans, usually getting ganged up on and taken down.
Once they got to the city walls, they saw several tailed titans trying to climb over. The Garrison scout legion was shooting canons at them, which was somewhat effective. Those that used their ODM to try to take them down were captured and eaten or slapped out of the air and down to their deaths. Their titans were patiently waiting at the walls, catching falling scouts and eating them. They saw the new, foreign titans as their food source.
"I'm going in," Andante said suddenly as he opened the back-car door.
Robin's eyes stretched as big as saucers when she saw the back door was open and a certain idiot was about to hop out. "No! Don't! We're still a bit too far; can't you wait?"
He looked at her and smiled a big, goofy smile. "Their lives can't wait, Robin." Then hopped out of the moving car and flew towards the titans.
He felt so free sailing through the air. He remembered many years ago when Levi was teaching him the ODM they used, he told him about how he free he felt in the air and how all his worries disappeared when he was sailing in the air. This is how Andante felt at the time, but he didn't have the luxury to cruise through the air. He soared towards the wall to get rid of the titans.
He caught one scout go for the neck and his swords broke. The titan wasn't pleased and slapped him out of the sky with his tail. The man yelled as he fell, but Andante caught him and put him back with his friends. He thanked Andante in return Andante nodded before slicing the titan's belly. He yowled and fell down, crushing the other titans that waited below. Jewel also hopped out of the car and started getting rid of the titans as Yasmin threw the titan repellent up as far as she could. The titans got the memo and ran away from the repellent.
After they were all done clearing the area, a familiar voice boomed, "And here I thought I was never going to see my favorite duo ever again,"
Andante and Jewel turned and smiled at the smiling bald elder.
"Pixis! My god, you're so old now! And you're bald!" Andante exclaimed as he came over to give him a hug.
"Ah, well, that's what aging does to you," Pixis replied as he hugged Jewel. "You guys came alone?"
"No, Robin, Aubrey, and Yasmin are down there in the car," Jewel answered. "You haven't met Yasmin yet have you?"
Pixis shook his head as he signaled for his soldiers to open the gates. "Do the Survey Corps know you're here, especially Levi? I know he misses you deeply."
Andante scratched his head and let out a nervous chuckle. "They know I'm coming, just not when I'll be here…"
Pixis motioned for the two to follow him down the wall to the car. Pixis stuck his head inside the driver side to see Robin and Aubrey in the front.
"I know you two missed me," he teased as Robin smiled at him.
"How can I forget the man that asked for my hand in marriage even though I was already married," Robin said as she forward to get a closer look at him.
"Your husband taught me a lesson too," he responded as he and Aubrey exchanged nods. He saw Yasmin in the back and smiled. "You must be the woman everyone has been talking about; it's nice to meet you."
Yasmin smiled at the man. "It's nice to meet you as well."
Pixis walked over and hopped on one of the horses available. "All of the military branches are on a six months hiatus because of how dangerous those titans were. The ones with tails don't get very far up the wall before falling down, but it is stressful when they keep killing us and we can't kill them."
Robin and Aubrey switched so that Robin could talk to the commander as they walked side by side through the city. The people stopped and stared at the two traveling towards the capital.
"That's why our queen had sent us to solve this problem and help you; we are allies after all," Robin told him.
The car and Pixis stopped near a castle. "This is where we part ways; Erwin can't stand it when the other invade the Survey Corps' territory. I wish you all the best of luck!"
They parted ways as a stream of scouts came out to see what all the noise was about. The newer ones stared in awe at the car, never seeing it before.
"Oh my God! You guys actually came!" A voice squealed as a familiar brunette came running towards them.
The crew got out of the car to greet her. Robin was smuggled by the brunette as she squealed and swung them side to side vigorously.
"I missed you too, Hanji; please put me down," Robin said.
Hanji apologized and put her down as she gave the rest of them hugs. "Oh boy! I'm so happy you guys came! Why didn't you guys tell us you were on the way? We didn't prepare anything or a party."
Robin laughed seeing Hanji pout. Miche and Moblit came over to exchange their own greetings.
"Hanji, we are here on official business. We don't need a party…"
It was like time had stopped when Levi appeared, wondering what all the excitement was about. Hanji grabbed on to Moblit's arm and squealed in excitement for the reunion she had been waiting for.
Andante was had just unloaded the last box when he turned and saw the short male standing a few feet away, a look of surprise and many other emotions on his face. The younger scouts didn't want to miss the expressions on their captain's face; he rarely showed them.
Andante opened his arms wide and cooed, "Come here, my love."
Levi accepted the invitation and dashed into his husband's arms. Andante took Levi into his arms and held him close. This was what he missed dearly. He missed holding Levi in his arms like this. He could hold back the laugh as he squeezed tighter as if Levi were to disappear from his grasp.
Levi buried his face in Andante's chest to hide his face from the others. Levi hated blushing, and he didn't want the others seeing him letting his guard down like this. Only Andante could make him appear as a different person. A vibration from his chest made Levi look up at him.
"Why are you hiding?" He teased
Levi just stared at him for a good moment before pulling on his collar and smashing their lips together in a long-awaited kiss. This earned them cheers from the other soldiers along with whistles and whoops, but the couple never heard those cheers. They were in their own little world.
