The Trickster God

The end

Odin

Heimdall stands at the Observatory controls. I pull Heimdall's sword from the control panel and throw it to him. Heimdall backs away.

"Why did you bring us back?" Thor says. He still doesn't understand the gravity of his deeds. Did he not hear Laufey, or was he willing to throw us into a war for his pride.

"Do you realize what you've done? The choice I now have to make?"

"It is not a choice father, I was protecting my home. I was right, they invaded us, let's give them the war they seek."

"You couldn't protect your friends. How will you protect a kingdom? It is a choice, and I will choose the answer I have tried to teach you all this years. Peace." I turn to my son's companions."Go to the healing room. Get some rest."

I look at Thor, his face is white. Ahh, so he has a grasp on what is going to happen. Loki is on the side, trying to look nonchalant, but he is worried, I can see in his eyes.

"Have you forgotten everything I've taught you? What of a warrior's patience, cunning?"

"While you wait and be patient, the Nine Realms laugh at us! The old ways are done. You'd stand giving speeches while Asgard falls!"

"You're a vain, greedy, cruel boy!"

"And you are an old man and a fool!"

I fall quiet. I am getting old. Maybe I am a fool. Thinking he would understand the price of the peace we now have, without showing it to him. Peace was all he knew, so he sought battles out. I didn't raise him to be the king I expected from him. And Loki, he would make a perfect king, if he had any volition for it. I should have probably insisted that he thought about his role as a royal member, but I didn't want him to resent me. More than he will when I tell him of his father.

"A fool, yes! I was a fool to think you were ready." I start. "Thor Odinson... You have disobeyed the express command of your King. Through your arrogance and

stupidity, you have opened these peaceful Realms and innocent lives to the horrors of war."

I plunge Gungnir into the Observatory's control panel. The turret turns, the Rainbow energy building along with my rage. It fires, as the Bifrost opens at the end of the platform, creating a portal behind Thor.

"You are unworthy of this Realm…"

I rip a disc off Thor's chest.

"...unworthy of your title…"

I rip his cape

"...unworthy of the loved ones you've betrayed. I hereby take from you your powers."

I extend my hand, Mjolnir goes flying from Thor's grasp into it.

"In the name of my father…"

A lighting comes off the hammer and hits Thor, disintegrating the right arm of his armor and part of the chest piece.

"...and of his father before…"

Another strike disintegrates the remainder of his armor, including the cape and torn-away disc on the floor.

"I cast you out!"

Thor is hurled backwards into the open Bifrost and disappears in the vortex. The hammer is in my hands, I think of what to do with it. I whisper.

"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

Runes appear on the side of the hammer, as if carved into its smooth surface. The runes linger for but a moment, then disappear. I throw Mjolnir into the Bifrost.

"I guess this went well. If you ever decide to cast me out, just fling me to Earth as well."

I turn to my son. I hope the frown on my face makes him realize that this is not a matter to joke on. But this is Loki I am talking about. We will hear him joke at his own funeral.

"As much as I understand it is in your nature, making jokes to deflect the seriousness of a situation, not now. I banned Thor. You are second in line. This all makes you heir to the throne of Asgard, whether you like it or not."

Loki always made very clear his lack of interest in being king. He partied, got drunk and, more often than not, escaped to other planets for impromptus adventures. His favorite destination being Earth. Something about the music and the people drawed his son to that place.

"Come Loki, we need to talk. To my chambers, your mother awaits. Besides, if you do something this stupid I will not give you the vacation that sending you to Earth would be. I'll lock you in a cell."

It might sound like extreme parenting, but I know my children.

The Trickster God

"My Queen, your eyes make me feel like I'm in danger…"

"I would not have exiled him to a world of mortals, stripped of his powers, to suffer alone. I would not have had the heart for such cruelty!"

"That is why I'm King."

We are seated in chairs. Frigga in front of me. Loki is standing, leaning on a wall. She has just learned the news. After telling us the full version of the events, Loki became silent. The whole "You'll be the king" thing obviously bothers him. He, then, speaks.

"Thor will come back. I won't have to be king. This throne is not even mine, I'm not your son."

Frigga and I are shocked. How did he know, we never told him. He was smart, of that there were no doubts, but why hadn't he said anything before.

"Oh, don't discompose yourselves. You are both blond and blue eyed. That is not how genetics work, even for Asgardians. And I once sneaked into the weapons vault, when I got close to the Casket of Ancient Winters I turned blue."

"In the aftermath of the battle, I went into the Temple, and I found a baby. Small for a giant's offspring… abandoned, suffering, left to die. Laufeyson. Are you mad?"

"Not really, It was what allowed me to…"

My body begins to shake, I lift my hand. It starts to move out of sync temporarily, leaving a trail, the effect of the Odinsleep approaching. I hear them talk to me, but I cannot make any words out. I'm in pain. I have put this out for too long. This is the worst moment possible, but there is nothing I can do.

"Loki…" is my last word as the world fades around me.

The Trickster God

I'm on a soft bed. I feel warm and secure. Why have I woken up? Then I hear it. A loud BOOM! Then I see it, Loki is standing at the Bifrost, Gungnir in his hands. Thor is at his side, looking, but making no moves to stop him. What are they doing, they are going to destroy the bridge. What have they done? I am going there.

The Bifrost SHATTERS, rainbow energy exploding out of it. Both Loki and Thor are hurled into the air by the force of the blast. A wave of destruction moves forward along the Bridge towards the Observatory, breaking it apart as it goes. The Observatory is ripped in half. As Loki and Thor fall together, Thor grabs hold of one end of Gungnir, while Loki still clutches the other. They both fall towards the MASSIVE WAVE of Bifrost energy which spews out from the broken Bridge. They're an instant from being blasted by the destructive force of the energy, carried away by the current, pulverized by the debris.

I catch Thor's foot as he holds Loki.

"What have you done!" I scream. I don't know what to feel. I'm scared, my children are at peril. I am enraged, they have put themselves in danger by doing something incredibly stupid. I'm confused, what has happened in the weeks that I was asleep that caused this outcome.

"I don't really know father!" Loki screams. " I thought I could have not fallen in the process, but it would appear some things are not changeable."

"You are not letting go, brother!"

"Drop me my helmet when I fall!" Loki smiles.

He wasn't looking good. His face was pale and his eyes red, like he hasn't slept in days. He let loose on his grip. He fell. He was still smiling. His helmet was at my feet, I gave it a kick. As I pull Thor up, his exhaustion makes him fall into my arms.

"It is over."

The Trickster God

Thor awakens. He looks at me. Sorrow in his eyes.

"Tell me the full story." I command.

"It is long." He replies.

"I have time."

"I fell on Earth, I was run over by a car. A woman was driving, Jane Foster. She took me to a healing place. I was confused by their ways and by my lack of powers. Jane taught me how their world works, how she is a scientist. They treat us as myths.

After a few days I learned where Mjolnir was. It was in a base of their government. I was arrested. I met the Son of Coul. He is a good guy. During my time in the cell, Loki appeared, he told me he was king regent, you'd fallen asleep. I asked to come home, he told me no.

He said the peace with Jontuinhein was conditioned with my exile. That his first act as a king couldn't be to undo the previous last one. He told me that there was a lesson to be learned, you were trying to teach me something. If I learned it and lifted Mjolnir again, I could go home.

I fell in love with Jane, father, and I made friends in Selvig and Darcy. I learned how to drive a car, how to use a computer, I finally understood why Loki loved that place. I listened to their music. I'm a Led Zeppelin fan, The Immigrant Song is incredible. Everything was fine, until one day frost giants appeared.

Something had happened to the truce, or they were making sure it was never broken by me coming home. I don't know. But the people were in danger, they were after me and they would kill everyone in their way. There were several of them. Even with the help of Coulson's men I couldn't defeat them.

When I offered them my life to keep the people safe, Mjolnir heard my call and came to me. I returned to Asgard to find out what was going on. I found Asgard ready to be invaded by Frost Giants and Loki not knowing what to do. He told me Laufey tried to kill you in your sleep. He killed Laufey, the rest was upset. I told him to break the Bifrost. He did"

Thor learned the lesson. He became wise and a peace seeker. He knew that either the giants would invade and asgardians would be in danger, or the Bifrost would kill an entire planet. All I had to lose for that was my other son. Loki was dead. I cried. His mom must be devastated.

"You'll be a wise King."

"Loki would be wiser. I have much to learn. I know that now. But some day, perhaps, I will make you all proud."

"You've already made me proud."

The Trickster God

"I thought you would be crying." I utter as I approach Frigga. She looked sad, but I thought it would be worse.

"We lost our son, but he is not dead. I was raised by witches. I would know." That surprises me. She is never wrong.

"What can you tell me that Thor couldn't?" I ask. I still am missing pieces of the story.

"After you fell asleep, I told him to crown himself. He refused, told me he'd be reagent until your awakening. Thor's friends asked Loki permission to visit him, he didn't let them, said he'd go himself.

After he came back he told us Thor was going to be okay. The only thing missing was the peace treaty with the Frost Giants. But before that could happen, Laufey got into Asgard and tried to kill you. Loki killed him. The others didn't like it. The rest you know."

"I see, I found a great time to fall asleep."

"That you did…"

The Trickster God

Laufey

I wasn't dead. Odin wasn't either. Loki didn't kill me. What did this dickhead do to me? I look around, I'm in a cold place. It is not Jotunheim, I know that because this looks too nice to be there. I hear music. I'm in a bedroom, a nice one.

"So I lied. I wasn't going to let you kill All-father. I love my old man. But I'm not going to be an asshole and just kill you. That is not nice. So instead I brought you here. Welcome to Contraxia!"

Loki was in front of me. If I wasn't confused by the amount of information dumped, I would have killed him.

"What the fuck!" I eloquently put it.

"This is a cold planet with a lot of entertainment. I wouldn't let my biological father in that dumpster of a place. Here you can have a go at the acting career you want, for what I've seen you'd be great at it, and women. I'll even throw in a suit for free. You'd look great!"

"I'm not even mad. A life free from that place and those morons. I'm in."

"Come on in girls!" Ladies walk into the room, I'm a lucky giant.

"One last thing, you didn't plan an invasion on Asgard even after I told you not to, did you?"

Fuck

"Well…"

"Fuck…"

The Trickster God

Back to the present:

Loki is falling into the deep abyss of space. The air is buzzing with electricity. Rainbow energy fills the void. Where once there was the mighty Bifrost, now there is nothing but rubble.

His helmet is by his side and his cape, torn. His face is pale and his eyes, red. Nevertheless, Loki's smile is in place, shining as bright as the stars that circle him.

So now you know how I'm here, I hope I don't get mind controlled, that be a pain in my ass.

A/N

"Sandford9687" and "M2R" Found a way to explain what I thought about without having to write a Loki POV. Hope it was clear, long speech for Thor, almost a Luis recap. Thank you for the review.

"Justanotherfan" and "Srsdbz1" Good to know. I marked the story as a comedy because I could never write something seriously, my mind would stop working. Thank you for the review.

"ILoveBlueAndRice" Mate, it's okay, I get it. Glad you liked it. Thank you for the review.

"DBZfan45" You are incredible. This is incredible. I love you. I laughed out loud at dinner, randomly, because of this. Thank you for the review.

Question: Should I mark this as completed and start another one for The Avengers, or should I just continue here?
