Chapter 5: The invitation

As they arrived at the station, after taking the patient in the hospital, Bobby called everyone in the kitchen to announce a big news.

"So, guys, I had a call from headquarter, they decided to do the big charity event at our station this year" exclaimed Bobby.

"Does this mean?" started to ask Chimney.

"Yes, you all have to be here that night, it's happening on the next week-end, bring dates" laughed Bobby.

"A nice party with all the big heads, nice" said Hen grabbing a bottle of water.

"Is it that terrible?" asked Eddie.

"No, it's great, but we don't want to ruin the surprise for you Eddie, you'll see" said Kaylee winking at him.

"Don't forget to bring dates, to avoid any weird situations" ironized Chimney.

"What kind of weird situations?" asked Eddie curious about that event.

The whole team laughed at him, and Buck went to him, put his hands on his shoulder.

"Trust me, bring someone."

The next week, Chimney and Bobby are in the kitchen talking about the charity gala.

"So, Chimney who will you bring to the gala?" asked Bobby sipping his coffee.

"I asked Maddie, and before you ask, she said yes" said Chimney proudly.

"Good, Athena really like her, she will be happy to see her."

"What about you Buck?" asked Chimney seeing Buck arriving.

"Do you remember the girl we saved during the earthquake?" exclaimed Buck sitting at the table.

"Yes"

"I asked, she said yes" added Buck taking an apple and eating it.

Chimney arrived with Kaylee, and Eddie was behind them.

"What are you talking about guys?" asked Kaylee.

"The gala and I heard that you don't have a date yet" laughed Buck.

"Shut up Buck, I will get one for the gala, don't worry. But we should be worry for Eddie." Said Kaylee smiling at Eddie.

"Okay, guys, I need information about this gala" said Eddie anxious.

"You'll find that soon enough" laughed Bobby" but it will be better for you with a date."

"That's a lot of pressure just for a charity gala" said Eddie.

Everyone nodded at him, laughing, and then left, letting Eddie and Kaylee alone.

"It's a habit for them, to leave us alone" laughed nervously Eddie.

"You have no idea" replied Kaylee finishing her drink.

Eddie thought of something, looked at Kaylee hesitant.

"What?" asked curiously Kaylee.

"I have an idea, tell me what you think" said Eddie.

"Okay, I'm listening."

"How about? and tell me if it's a bad idea. We go at this gala together. I really don't want to go by myself, considering everything you haven't told me and, I'm sure we can have a good time together, as friends" asked Eddie nervously.

After a few seconds, she looked at him, thinking and then replied.

"You know what, it's really a good idea, I didn't want to go date hunting anyway, and I definitely did not want to go alone, so why not, you can pick me up at 7 pm, don't be late and where something nice" said Kaylee winking at him and leaving the kitchen.
