Chapter 5

A/N: It's Sunday! Here's the next chapter. This chapter has no playlist, sadly. Thank you for all the likes and reviews. I really love every single one. Thank you to AGoodWitch for all her help and love of this story, she kinda rocks. Let's see how this goes!

"You live right here, next to me?"

"Yeah. I mean, I didn't know you lived here, but yeah; I live here."

"So, you're my piano man?"

I saw his eyes crinkle and knew he was smiling under that mask. "Your piano man?"

I just realized that I actually said that out loud. Shit! "No! I mean… that's what I call you. Not that you like you belong to me–" I huffed. "I'm gonna shut up now."

I heard him chuckle, and it made me smile in response. "So, you're the voice on the other side of the wall. I wondered what you looked like. Apparently, I knew the entire time."

"Me too. I wondered, I mean." I confessed. I found myself studying his hands. Yep, long, skinny fingers. Perfect for playing the piano. I thought back on the things I knew about both guys; I should have figured it out sooner. The things that went unsaid between me and Edward and the small interactions with Piano Man. Even his age and voice should have tipped me off.

"Meet me on the roof in 15 minutes?" He asked. I know talking in the middle of the hall in our apartment complex wasn't the best place to do this, so I nodded and we both went into our apartments. I inhaled my food as fast as I could. Then I got dressed in warm lounge pants and a zip-up hoodie. I got a text from Jasper that Ali's test was negative, but they were still at the ER. I shot one back, saying I was happy and to keep me posted. I grabbed my mask and keys, making my way up to the roof. When I got there, Edward was already there, smoking.

I was mesmerized by those long fingers of his again. I was in so much trouble with how much I was attracted to him, and so willing to break the lockdown rules just to be close to him. Just to hear his voice. I leaned against the wall, far away enough from him. His mask was off so he could smoke. He just watched me as he hollowed his cheeks to take a drag and then put out the cigarette when he was only half done with it.

I smiled and shook my head, reminded of our conversation earlier today. God had all this stuff happened in only one day. It was surreal. "This so weird."

"Why is it so weird? We're still the same people we always were. Bella and Edward, piano man and piano girl."

"No, it's only weird because I thought that you, Edward, and piano man were two different people. It's just a strange thought to put both together."

"Well, what did you envision when you thought of me?"

"I don't know. I knew your age, and I knew you could play the piano. I was more attracted to that and won over by it than any good looks you could possess."

"What about Edward?"

"Oh, come on. You know you are, like, gorgeous right?"

He looked fairly disgruntled as he put his mask on. "Gorgeous?"

I sighed. "Fine, you're handsome. Better?"

"Yeah, I guess. Girls are always saying that, didn't really care until now."

"Well, from what I've seen of the inside, that's beautiful as well. So, what about me? What did you think about me?"

"The same, I knew your age and your voice. It was your singing that intrigued me. Of course, you'd wind up being gorgeous." He said, stressing the last word.

I chuckled and shook my head. "It sucks this had to happen now, in the middle of a lockdown. Can we continue our duets? Honestly, I was looking forward to them continuing."

"Of course, Bella. What kind of Piano Man would I be if I stopped playing. I really wish I could see you play though."

"Same," I said, not really sure where to go from here. Then I remembered that I talked to my sister a few times a week, using video. "What kind of phone do you have?"

"Um, I have a Note 9."

"We can talk to each other on video. Look." I said, gesturing for him to come closer. I pulled out my phone, unlocked it with my fingerprint, and then showed him how to call someone using the video calling, using his phone number. "My phone is a galaxy too, so it supports the video calling too. It's not the same as face to face, but it works for now."

"It does. Well, I can't think of much more than how much I want to kiss you, so I think maybe we should head back down." He said, in that husky voice that just did things to my insides. I smiled and looked down.

I nodded, and he rushed to get ahead of me and open the door for me. I mumbled a thank you, glad he couldn't see me blush. We kept shooting glances at each other as we walked down to our apartments. We were most definitely not maintaining our social distance.

I stopped at my door and he stopped at his. "Goodnight, Bella."

"Goodnight, Edward."

We both made no move to go inside, and I was the first to break, hearing my phone chirping. I unlocked my door, and before walking inside, I spared one last glance at him. He was just watching me. I closed my door and heard his door unlock and him moving around. My phone chirped again, and I pulled it out to see that Alice was calling me.

"Ali, oh my god, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I have strep throat. Thank god it wasn't the other thing, but I feel like a Mac truck has backed me over."

"Lots of liquids and rest, Mary Alice."

"That's weird, I thought I called my sister, not mom."

"Haha. Hilarious. I still need your pain in the ass ways for many years to come."

"You sound different. What's going on Bella Marie?"

"Not right now, Alicat. You'll need the ability to squeal and clap when I tell you, so you get better, and then I will tell you the entire story."

"Oh, you gave me the best motivation now, Bellsy. I will talk to you in a day or two, let you know how I'm feeling."

"Okay. Love you sister dear."

"You too."

I tossed my phone on my couch and sat down, exhaling. A lot had happened in the last 24 hours, and it was a task to process it all. For the first time in a really long time, I had a guy who refused to leave my mind, and in this new normal we lived in now, dating was going to be vastly different.

I huffed, grabbed my phone, locked my front door, turned off the lights, and went to my bedroom. I got into my pajamas and turned on the CD that Edward had made for me. I slowly let my body relax and fell asleep.

A/N: So, how do we feel? This chapter is a little shorter, but this fic is drabbleish at times, so it'll happen again. Leave me a review and let me know your thoughts. Next chapter will be back with music and some fun times between these two. Until later, lovelies.
