Heyo, this is the next chapter, I'm still deciding whether I'm going to give them a rapid romance story, but this one should set the scene of a spark being ignited. Happy reading :)
Chapter 5
Speeding on down an endless road, after escaping the vigilantes who had tried to kill them moments before. Regina swiftly clasped one side of the handcuff to Emma's wrist, and attaching the other side to hers with a click.
"What? What the-"
"You seem to make the purest of friends wherever you wander of to, hm?" Regina bit out.
"You don't need to worry about anything that happens, okay?" The blonde huffed, stuffing her other hand into her pocket on the look for something specific.
Adjusting in her seat, she pulled out a hair pin, and began to work at the handcuffs holding her arm hostage.
"What do you think you're doing? Is that a Bobby pin?" Regina's eyebrows hit her hairline, in surprise.
"Yup. Sure shit it is."
A chuckle filled the interior of the black vehicle.
"Well, you're wasting your time. It's not coming off, dear." She reassured.
"We'll see about that."
"I'd much prefer if you'd apologise for getting me shot at, in your monstrosity of a house." Being a single mother, it wasn't everyday that you were shot at. She somewhat deserved an apology for that.
Click.
The handcuffs weight plummeted slightly on Emma's end, causing the brunettes head to snap into her direction. She had just broken out of the handcuffs.
"Then you shouldn't have broken into my house." Shrugging off the metallic restraint, she rubbed her wrist, and leaned back into the seat.
"Despite your weak escape plan, we are still heading to the nearest airport, Em-ma." Keeping her eyes on the road, she unclipped her handcuffs from her wrist.
"Just pull over, Jesus Christ!" The blonde yelled at Regina.
Pulling over in the middle of the highway, Regina turns to Emma. Glaring cold heartedly at the woman.
"No police involved. I swear by that. All this trip requires, is for you to speak to my firm. This isn't a fantastic overview of my personal report." Regina asks, almost pleading.
"Don't lie to me."
"I'm not lying to you, Emma."
"Swear on your kids life."
A familiar warmth crawls its way up Regina's neck to her cheeks.
"Go on. Swear on the kids life if you actually mean that." Emma faced Regina fully, with direct eye contact.
"I swear on Henry's life." The brunette complied, with her hand behind her back.. Fingers crossed.
"Fine. But only your boss, okay?" Emma, eyed her suspiciously.
"Of course." A tight smile, spread across the brunettes face.
It had been several hours on the road, along with the odd stop for gas. There hadn't been much speaking taking place at all, apart from the bicker here and there.
Regina still on the phone for a few minutes, saying her good nights to Henry on the other line.
"I should be back with you on Sunday, at the latest." Her tone much more silkier, the blonde noticed as she admired the woman's side profile.
"I love you too, my little Prince." She chuckled slightly. Hanging up the phone, glancing at the blonde starring at her.
"Is there a problem?" She spoke up, snapping the blonde out of her trance.
"What? No. Nothing." She brushed off.
"You were starring, Emma. You weren't subtle either." She continued.
"So how is your kid?" Emma replied, completely dodging the question.
"He's fine. He just misses is mother." Glancing back at the blonde. Brown eyes meeting emerald.
"Can we talk about life more at a restaurant or something? I'm hungry and I need to pee." The blonde whined.
"Lucky for you, I need to take a shower. So I think we can resolve both issues." Regina, turned into a small motel, and parked the car.
"Hi, welcome to the 'Corbin Hotel'. How are y'all doin'?" The assistant behind the desk asks politely at the two woman in front of her.
"Good, good. We are really famished though, got a long drive ahead of us." The blonde giggled. Stunning Regina. It had honestly been her first time hearing something other than a whine from the woman.
Once they had made their way over to the allotted table, Regina removed her jacket and hung it at the back of her seat.
"Is there anything you'd like to eat?" The brunette questioned, looking up from her menu.
"I don't know, Regina.. Children?" She remarked sarcastically.
"You do realise that you're proving to me that you're a sociopath."
"I'll have the ribs, please." Emma shut the brunette up. Causing Regina to smirk at her behaviour.
It was surprising how both woman got along for the entire dinner. Emma had asked some questions regarding Henry, and Regina opened up. It was reckless if her to say but.. She felt as if she could trust Emma with such information.
Eventually, Regina had grown tired. They both made their way to the room booking office to rent out a room for the night.
"Hello, I'd like to book one room, with two beds, please." Regina stated formally.
"Oh, I'm sorry ma'am. We only have single beds left tonight."
"You're serious." The brunette stated. It was more of an observation than a question.
"It's fine, we don't really mind. It's just that me and my wife have been in an argument and she's just being a big baby." Emma sighs, wrapping her arm around the brunettes shoulders, causing Regina's body to stiffen at the sudden contact.
"Ah, I see. Well, I'm afraid you'll have to take the single room. It's all we have." The assistant stated, handing out a key.
"That's perfect!" Emma exclaimed, grabbing the key, along with Regina's hand - towards the rooms.
"Home sweet home, wife." Emma smirked, whilst throwing her bag across the room.
"I'll take the-" Regina's words were cut off by the size of the sofa in the room. It was tiny.
"C'mon, it's too small for your body-" Emma paused, as she caught Regina's glare.
"No offence, but we are both adults here. It's only fair we share." Shrugging, she gave the brunette a one sided smile.
"It's quite ironic. The adults I've been around don't usually steal identities. Then again, you're not a normal adult." She snarled at the blonde.
"That's the nicest thing you've said to me, this entire trip." Emma soothed, placing her hand to her chest dramatically.
"I'm going to shower. In the meantime, make yourself useful and use the staff bathroom." Regina's voice becoming distant as a click indicated that she had locked the bathroom door.
Emma had nothing to do for at least twenty minutes tops, so why no head out the the nearest bar?
Whipping out a pen and notepad from the drawers, she writes Regina a heartwarming note:
Hey wifey,
I'll be out getting some drinks, i probably won't be back soon. Don't stay up and worry.
Love you ;)
The note displayed, she grabbed the piece of paper and left it on the bed for the brunette to see. Casually walking out of the door, keys in her pocket.
The brunette had gotten showered and dressed. Regina was in bed, in her silk night dress, as Emma came back through the door with a bottle of vodka in hand.
"Emma. What is this?" Turning on a lamp, Emma undressed, leaving her in red lace panties and a white tank top.
"Shhh, I'm sleeping." Emma hushed, crawling under the sheets.
"You're freezi-" The brunettes words were cut off by the feeling of a cold hand, grasping her chin, facing her towards the blonde as her lips collided with Regina's. The brunette nearly groaned as she felt the blonde lips brush tentatively against her own. She confirmed to Emma that it was what she wanted, and kisses back.
There was a hand that snaked its way through Emma's hair, pulling lightly causing the blonde to moan. Grabbing the brunettes hips, Regina understood and broke off the kiss, catching her breath. Slowly leaning over the blondes form, she straddled her waist. Bringing her into another bruising kiss. As soon as the blondes tongue swiped across her bottom lip, Regina parted herself once more.
"Emma.. I can't-" she breathed. Her hair dishevelled, and the strap of her nightdress loose on her shoulder.
Noticing her hands were either side of Emma's head, she got up immediately and ran for the bathroom, before the blonde could even calculate a sentence. Leaving the blonde wide eyed on the bed.
After a few minutes, she came out of the bathroom. Needing to gather her emotions. This woman stole from you. She thought to herself.
The door revealed a sleeping Emma, clutching the blankets as if it were a lifeline. She slid beneath the covers, next to the blonde. Both woman were knocked out to sleep within minutes.
Did Regina think too much into running away..? Or will she act upon her feelings more so? Stay tuned :)
