Chapter 5:Surprises and the Truth About the Past
"Coulter," exclaimed the other girls except for Robin, Ari and Anna. After they had recovered from the shock of hearing Ari cuss as well as Serenity and Marisa's sudden appearance.
"Yeah, that's part of what I wanted to tell you. Yes, Mrs. Coulter is our mother as well as Lyra and Lex's mother; they are twins," Robin said.
"What? Why didn't you tell us before and how is that even possible since we look nothing alike except for our eyes," asked a confused Lyra
"That is my fault. I made a rash decision to protect all of you with the information I had at the time. How about you all get comfortable then we will explain everything and answer your questions," answered Marisa pointing to herself and Serenity. Once everyone was seated, Serenity began to tell their story .
"This all started back in the Silver Millennium as you all know that I had a younger twin brother but what you do not know is that I had a little sister..."
"Hey who are you calling little, you are only two minutes older than me," Marisa snapped out playfully!
"I am a thousand years and two minutes older than you because I was never reincarnated baby sister." She answered.
"You are about to become reacquainted with my fist if you do not stop picking on me, " Marisa retorted.
"Temper! You should not lose your temper so easily, sister dear. It is not very ladylike." Serenity teased.
"I will show you temper your obnoxious little pain in my neck." Marisa snapped as she grabbed a pillow from the couch and proceeded to hit Serenity with it as she chased her around the room.
"Girls, that is enough! Act your age instead of acting like a child!" cut in a voice from the doorway. They all turned to see who it was.
"How"
"Holy s***."
"What the F**k"
"Grandma"
"Mother!" Exclaimed, Anna, Ari, Robin, Mina and Marisa.
"Watch your language, Aria Rose Paige Coulter, Robin Nicole Paige Coulter there is no excuse you both know better than to use that kind of language." Elizabeth snapped.
"Yes, Grandma Elizabeth, we're sorry," replied Ari and Robin
Before anyone could say anything else, Lyra and Lex ran towards the door while crying out "Grandma we thought we would never see you again, "and throwing their arms around Elizabeth. Having got over the shock of seeing Elizabeth, the others went at a more sedate pace one at a time to hug her.
"Oh my darling girls I have missed you all," Elizabeth said with a smile.
"We have missed you to" They all replied
"Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but how are you here Grandma. You died last night. Right," asked Mina?
"Yes I died but Isabella, Charles, George, and I feel responsible for the current situation. So we made a deal with Hades to be able to pop up to help you all out occasionally at key points"
"Wait, you made a deal with Uncle Hades. How did you pull that off? I mean he is not usually the most helpful person," Trista stated
"Yes, that is certainly true. We were able to use persuasion with help from your Aunt Persephone to convince him to help.
"That explains it," Trista muttered.
Oh and Lex both Isabella and I are sorry that you were the one to find us. We never wanted you to have to experience such trauma," Elizabeth said.
"Oh Grandma I know you didn't and I won't lie to you. I have grown up a lot since yesterday. I am struggling with being the one to find you but with the support of my family I will overcome this Trauma," she replied.
"There is my girl. Now does anyone want to explain why Marisa and Serenity were running around the room like children when I got here," asked Elizabeth?
"I was explaining the story behind our current situation, and I started needling Marisa, which caused her to react," replied Serenity
"Ah-ha, I see I am just in time then. Hades only knows that you two
wouldn't be able to get through the story without picking on one another. Do not look at me like that dear,' Elizabeth told Marisa, noticing the glare on her only daughter's face 'you know it is true. After all, you two have been getting on each other's nerves for years." she stated.
"That's it, I can't take it anymore. Will some please explain what's going on here!" Serena wailed.
"Yes, I will. I swear nothing has changed after all these years. Have Robin, Ari, or Anna told you about their father" asked Elizabeth?
"Not much, just that he was an unpleasant person. They don't like to talk about him" answered Serena.
" "Unpleasant, more like a self-centred, ungrateful, lying, manipulative bastard. The only good thing he did was get Mama pregnant with us, and even then, it was for his own reasons. He wanted a SON AND HEIR. WHEN HE COULDN'T HAVE ONE WITH MAMA. HE WENT AND FUCKED THAT SLUT BITCH MIRANDA IN ORDER TO GET HER PREGNANT WITH A SON. SO THAT IF HE WAS SUCCESSFUL HE COULD CONVINCE GRANDPA CHARLES AND GRANDMA ISABELLA TO ALLOW TO DISINHERIT US IN FAVOR OF HIS SON. WHEN HIS PLAN DIDN'T WORK DESPITE HAVING A SON. HE TURNED INTO AN FUCKING EMOTIONALLY ABUSIVE BASTARD." Robin said, her voice raising to a yell.
"Robin Nicole Paige Coulter watch your language. Edward is still your dad. Besides, He is dead, you should not talk Ill of the dead. It is bad manners and I know for a fact that you were raised better than that." Elizabeth said sternly.
"He is not my dad, he is my father, there is a difference. I don't fucking care if it's rude to talk ill of him now that the bastard is dead. After all he never had the common decency to treat me with respect when we were alone when he was still alive. Why should I do it now"
"Because you are a better person than he is."
"Maybe I'm tired of being the better person. Maybe for once in my life I want to be able to express my options and emotions without having to worry about what is proper. After all Mama just showed up after seven fucking years. You and Grandma Isabella just died in a way that is eerily similar to how Grandpa Gorge and Grandpa Charles died. And we are talking about the no-good bastard who fathered me Ari and Anna. I think I can be forgiven for not using my usual polite and politically correct manners to express myself."
"Of course you can, darling this would be overwhelming for anybody. Right Mother" Marisa cut in with a hint of warning for Elizabeth.
"Absolutely I am sorry darling I went into lecturing Grandma mode without thinking forgive me."
"Of course Grandma I should watch my language especially around Lyra and Lex."
"Unfortunately everything Robin said is true, but Edward was not always the man that Robin, Ari, and Anna knew. Edward and I actually grew up together and were friends. When I first started dating Edward, he was everything that I wanted in a man smart, charming, and funny. We had a whirlwind courtship, and when he proposed, I was over the moon. Two years into our marriage Edward and I found out that I was pregnant. We were thrilled and made the decision to wait until birth to find out our baby's gender. After Robin's birth, Edward was disappointed but was still a good father when he was around. Then when I was pregnant with Ari and Anna I noticed that Edward was growing distant. I suspected that he was having an affair. But I did not have proof until I came home from the hospital with Ari and Anna when I walked in on Edward and Miranda. Naturally, I was furious. We started to argue. Then Edward screamed at me that Miranda would give him the sons that I was unable to give him because she was pregnant with triplets. I told him that was fine and that he could go live with Miranda because he was not welcome in my home any longer," Marisa told them.
"Then why did you and father get back together? I mean I distinctly remember him living with us sure he wasn't around much," asked Ari
"Your grandparents were not happy with your father's actions. They told him that if he did not at least pretend to have a happy marriage he would be disowned and everything left to you three. Of course, if they knew what would happen and how it would affect you girls, they would have never made us get back together. So we went on pretending to be the happily married couple in front of high society. Still, behind closed doors, we lived separate lives. Although he continued to have an affair with Miranda and I focused on raising Robin, Ari, and Anna. When it came time for Miranda to give birth, she had a son and two daughters, but Edward did not care he finally had a son. He continued to see Miranda until his death when the children were six and eight.
However, when Robin was six, and the twins as well as the triplets were four I met Lord Asriel. We had a two-year affair resulting in Lyra and Lex being born. I knew that despite Edward's relationship with Miranda, he would never accept that I got pregnant out of wedlock. So I made him think that he was the father after all we were still married and I did still sleep with him. However, when Lyra and Lex were born, something happened to awaken my memories from the Silver Millennium.
It turns out that Edward and I were married in the Silver Millennium, and we had affairs with Miranda and Asriel back then. To this day, we don't know what caused me to regain my memories at that moment or why it took so long. But I knew without a doubt that if Edward ever learned of Lyra and Lex's true parentage, he would kill them and Lord Asriel. I gave Asriel our daughter's and told him to keep them safe. Then I made Edward believe that they were dead. I quietly started to secure Robin, Ari, and Anna's inheritance while secretly filing for divorce. Unfortunately, before I could get away, Edward found out that Lyra and Lex were alive and that their dad was Asriel. When Robin, Ari, Anna, and I were away visiting Belacqua Manor Edward showed up to kill Lyra, Lex, and Asriel. A struggle broke out, and Asriel killed Edward. To understand why I made the decisions that I did, we are going to have to awaken your memories of the past," Marisa said as Serenity waved her hand. A white mist filled the room as each girl's planetary symbol started glowing on their foreheads.
