Hello! I hope everyone is excited for today's story! No shout outs today, I was eating candy earlier and thought of this! I hope you enjoy! And no for your daily dose of Marichat!
Prom Problems (Part One)
"Alya, I don't know what to do!" Marinette sighed. "What if-"
"Adrien is going to ask you." Alya said, cutting her off. "You're amazing, Marinette! If he doesn't ask you, I'll ditch Nino and take you myself."
Marinette wrapped her arms around Alya in a giant hug. "Thank you, Alya! You're the best friend anyone could ask for!" Well, there was Tikki, but she couldn't say that or else she would reveal her identity.
"Hey my dudes!" a voice from behind them shouted.
"Hey Nino! H-hey A-Adrien!" Marinette stuttered as Alya went to go kiss her boyfriend on the cheek. "W-what's up?"
"Nothing much." Adrien replied, smiling. "What's up with you?"
"We're trying to get a boy to ask Marinette to the prom next week." Alya said, looking pointedly at Adrien. He, of course, didn't notice.
"Really?" he asked, slightly shocked. How had no one asked her yet? "Who's the lucky guy?"
"It's y-"
"NO ONE! IT'S NO ONE!" Marinette screeched, cutting Alya off. She would die of embarrassment if Adrien found out about her crush on him.
"Oh Adrikins!" they all heard Chloe shout from behind him. Adrien cringed, knowing what she was about to ask. He was actually pretty surprised she had gone this long. They had only found out about the prom two days ago.
"Yes, Chole?" he sighed.
"Will you ask me to the prom?" Chloe gave him her 'my father is Mayor Bourgeois so you have to do as I say' face.
Adrien sighed again, pretty much hating his life. "I don't really have a choice, do I?"
"No, of course not!" she said in a bratty tone, taking him by the arm and dragging him away. Marinette heard what Chloe was saying before they went around the corner, "So, this is what we'll wear…."
It was confirmed. Marinette wasn't going to the Prom with Adrien. She wanted to cry and scream at the same time. Cry because she wasn't going to be his date to prom, and scream because Chloe was going to be his date to Prom.
"That's it. Nino," Alya breathed. "I'm sorry, but-"
"Alya, don't." Marinette said, cutting her off again. "You shouldn't ruin your night because of me."
"Oh, Marinette…" her friend sighed. "Even if I wasn't slow dancing with Nino, it would still be the best night of my life. Because I would be hanging out with my best friend."
Now Marinette wanted to cry for another reason. Before she could let the tears spill, she said that she needed to get home and start the homework. Luckily, her house was just across the street, so it didn't take long to get there.
As soon as Marinette got up to her room, she let go. She cried, and cried, and cried. She sobbed into her pillow for hours, not getting any homework done like she said she would do. She hadn't even touched it.
Eventually, the tears ran dry, and she layed on her back and stared at the sky through the open trapdoor. She didn't want to talk to anyone, so she ignored the chimes coming from her phone.
After about an hour of staring at the blue above her, she heard a thump on her balcony. She frowned, but before she could sit up and investigate, she met a pair of green eyes.
Chat Noir had come to visit her.
He could tell that she'd been crying, but he didn't understand why. Had she tripped and hurt herself? Then, he remembered about earlier.
"He's not going with you, is he." It wasn't a question, he could see rejection when he saw it.
Marinette shook her head slowly. "No, he's going with someone else."
"Do you…." Chat gulped. "Do you know who he asked?"
"Well, actually…" she sniffed. "It's a lot more complicated than that. You see, he didn't ask anyone. Someone asked him. And guess what?"
"What?"
"Now she's his date. The funny thing is, he doesn't even like her that way." Marinette laughed without humor. "But you see, she's the daughter of the Mayor, so she can get whatever she wants. It's annoying, really."
"Wait," Chat started, a bit confused. "The boy you wanted to ask out is…"
"Adrien Agreste." She finished for him. "The thing is, I've had a huge crush on him for a year now. It's stupid, though. I should have known I was way out of his league."
A few tears were rolling down her cheeks, but Marinette didn't care. She felt strong arms holding her in a hug. She buried her face in Chat's arms, and sighed.
"Marinette?" she looked up to meet his gaze.
"Yes?"
"You're wrong. You're not way out of his league." A small smile spread across his face. "He's way out of yours."
"Thank you, Chat." Marinette whispered.
"Say, princess," now he was full on smirking. "What if I take you to your prom?'
