A year had gone by and Sonic had finally come out of his room after finding out they needed a Super Sonic fight a week later.

His friends had been with him since that day and Tails and Knuckles had been supporting him the most.

Knuckles had been thinking about admitting his crush but wasn't sure if Sonic was ready.

He was at Sonic's house having some dinner and Tails was at home sick with a cold.

Vanilla has been looking after him though.

She had been helping Sonic as well as she could to after losing her own mate when Cream was a month old.

Knuckles was thinking.

'Maybe I'll wait just a little longer.' he thought.

Then they continued eating.

Meanwhile with Shadow.

"Is it done Doctor?" Shadow asked.

"Yes Shadow, it's done." Gerald said.

Shadow smiled.

"Thank you doctor." he said and took them and went to watch Sonic having dinner with Knuckles.

He knew Knuckles has a crush on him and was happy.

"Soon Sonic, just another few days when I can tell he was going to do it." he said smiling.

"Shadow?" Maria said watching him smiling. "What's going on?"

"I think Knuckles is going to admit that he loves Sonic soon. And I have a feeling Sonic is going to give it a shot. When Tails is better I'm gonna go see him. That way he has both his friends."

She smiled.

"Good idea." she said and watched the two heroes talking after they ate.

Shadow could feel in his Chaos that Sonic was starting to feel new feelings of one of his best friends and smiled.

Back with Sonic and Knuckles,

"So, thanks for dinner. I'll see you next week unless it's time for work." Knuckles said.

"Yeah. See you." Sonic said and split up.

He sat down and thought.

'Am I getting different feelings for him and not as friends now?' he wondered.

A week later Team Sonic was at work.

"Hey Egghead!" Sonic said and he looked at him.

Then he saw the X Tornado and Knuckles there and looking at him.

"You ready to lose again?" he asked.

"You're going to lose this time hedgehog." Eggman said and Sonic looked at Tails and Knuckles and nodded.

They smirked and while Tails aimed at one of the Swatbots Knuckles went after another spinning through it then was on his feet smirking.

"Wha? The others!" Eggman said and saw a shot hit the other one.

"When isn't the whole team?" Knuckles asked smirking.

Then Sonic jumped off his hand and caught the Power Ring Tails tossed him and got through one.

While they fought they were having a little trouble but just a little.

When they were done they looked at each other smiling and high five.

"Thanks for the help, see you guys later for dinner as usual." Sonic said and they nodded and split up.

When he got home Sonic started to cook and clean up a little.

An hour later everything was all set.

Back with Shadow.

"I think it's the perfect day. He just fought Eggman with his teammates and are having dinner together as usual." Shadow said smiling and looked at Maria.

"Good luck!" Maria said smiling.

"Thanks, I might need it but we'll see."

Then he focused on his Chaos and was gone.

When he got down he saw Sonic in the living room and took a deep breath.

"Sonic?" he said causing him to jump, get into position then stopped and froze.

"S-Shadow?" Sonic said.

"Yeah." Shadow said smiling.

Then they hugged each other and Sonic cried.

"I'm sorry Sonic. I shouldn't've left you when you needed more support than me. I came to tell you that you need to let go. You have to get over me, move on. I'll always be there and love you. But you need to find someone else."

Sonic shook his head.

"I can't!" he said.

"Yes you can. I have a way for you to see and talk to me."

"What?"

Shadow took out a medallion.

"This. All you have to do is tap it and I'll be there. I have mine in my pocket."

Sonic picked it up and saw a blue Chaos Emerald shaped medallion.

"I'll take care of it." he said then Shadow put it on and Sonic did the same thing with Shadow's.

"Now you can see and talk to me whenever you want." Shadow said smiling. "Now go find someone. Someone that you'll love like you do me."

Sonic nodded and then kissed each other.

"I'll try." he said.

Shadow smiled and nodded.

"Good. I'll always be there." he said and gave him one last kiss then was gone.

Sonic stood there in silence crying.

Then he heard the door unlock and saw Knuckles and Tails.

"Sonic?" Tails said.

"He came. Shadow came a few seconds ago and told me to move on. He'll always be there and love me. But it's time to move on. I need to let go. I have to get over him. Find someone else." Sonic said quietly crying with tears coming out.

Tails and Knuckles gave him a brother hug.

"He, he gave me this medallion with a Chaos Emerald shape. All I have to do is tap it and he'll be there."

"That's good." Tails said.

"Yeah." Knuckles said.

'Maybe I'll tell him after dinner.' he thought.

"So, ready for dinner?" Sonic asked.

"Yeah, I'm starving." Tails said and they sat down at the table and ate.

"This afternoon's fight was a little hard today don't you think guys?" Tails said and Sonic and Knuckles nodded.

"Yeah, I doubt he'll ever beet us though." Knuckles said and Sonic nodded.

"If he can lose to teenagers and a kid he's never gonna win. We have Silver, Blaze, Amy and Super Sonic to help to." Sonic said and Tails and Knuckles nodded.

While they talked Tails and Knuckles noticed that Sonic was better than right after losing Shadow.

When Sonic went to put the dishes in the dishwasher they looked at each other.

"I think he's starting to get over Shadow, what about you?" Tails said smiling a little.

"Yeah, I think he just needed to see and hear him one more time." Knuckles said smiling a little to.

"He might still need some help but he's getting close to his old self. He's over the miscarriage with Blaze's help and now he's almost over Shadow."

Then they gave each other a high five.

"I'll tell the others when I get home." Tails said smiling.

"OK, I'm gonna stay here a little longer." Knuckles said and Tails nodded.

An hour later Tails said he had some cleaning to do.

So Sonic and Knuckles went to the living room and watched some TV.

"That was good." Knuckles said.

"Thanks. Vanilla helped me when she was helping me." Sonic said.

"That sounds about right." Knuckles said and snickered.

Then Sonic looked at Knuckles and he looked at him back.

They got closer and then kissed.

When they let go they turned red.

"Sorry." Sonic said.

Knuckles didn't answer for a second then pulled him closer and kissed him again and Sonic froze for a second then remembered what Shadow said so he shut his eyes and kissed him back.

With Shadow.

Shadow smiled.

'He finally moved on.'

"Look after him Knuckles." he said smiling.

Back with Sonic and Knuckles.

Then they stopped and looked at each other.

"Sonic?" Knuckles said.

"Yeah?" Sonic said.

"I love you."

"I, I love you to."

Then they held onto each other.

Sonic knew he was never going to be completely over Shadow but knew Shadow was happy for finding someone to take him in.
