A/N: Most of the characters and the main plot belongs to J.K Rowling

Harry woke up on the next day, wondering where he was before it registered to him that he was finally at Hogwarts. He got up eagerly and grabbed his towel and made his way over to the shower. He stayed in there for around 15 minutes as he had woken up earlier than what he had planned so he could take his time with his morning routine. He finished in the shower and went down into the common room and there he found Hermione, already reading he thought.

"Hello Hermione, did you sleep well ?" he asked

Hermione hadn't registered that anybody was even there so looked up a bit confused and then she noticed Harry. "Oh Harry, didn't know you were awake yet. And yes I did sleep quite well although I can't wait to get started with classes. What lesson are you the most excited to be in ?"

"I really want to be in Defence Against the Dark Arts, I just seems like one of the best classes, the one where we would be using our wands the most although charms and Transfiguration seem quite interesting too. What about you ?"

"Oh me it's definitely Charms or Transfiguration. I'm just fascinated by the aspect of transforming one thing into another just like that, and in Charms, I want to be able to summon things to me and make things float." She said quicker than Harry had ever heard someone speak. He was glad for the enthusiasm which she brought because it motivated him even more. At this point Harry stomach started screeching as if begging for food. Harry and Hermione both burst out into a fit of laughter. Some of the students that had come down while they were talking were looking at them like they were some sort of deranged psychopaths but they didn't mind. When the two of them were able to breathe again, they made their way down to the Great Hall for breakfast. They did get lost a couple of times, they even found themselves by the door to the third floor corridor. Harry was about to enter to see what was so dangerous but Hermione pulled him back with a stern look on her face that said 'Do you want to get us expelled on the first day ?' Harry chuckled internally at this as he hadn't thought about the consequences of what he was about to do.

When they finally arrived at the Great Hall, they made their way to the closest end of the Ravenclaw table. There were only a few people in the Hall eating. There were two red-headed twins at the Griffindor table, Harry was beginning to wonder how many red heads there were. There was an auburn haired girl at the Hufflepuff table who looked to be in first year and at the Slytherin table was where there were the most people, the table must have been nearly half full. Harry guessed that Slytherins weren't exactly the type of people to sleep in.

After looking up to the ceiling which showed of a nearly cloudless sky, he started piling up his plate with toast, some baked beans and a couple fried eggs. He didn't feel exactly hungry but the sound his stomach was making was telling him different. Harry and Hermione were just talking about the classes that were about to begin when a small man, who Harry remembered as their Head of House, professor Flitwick, went around the Ravenclaw giving out their times tables. Harry noticed that the other Heads of Houses were doing the same with their Houses that were now full. He looked and his first class was double Potions with Hufflepuff. After that he had History of Magic and then Herbology, both with Slytherins for one hour each, then it was meal time, after that he had an hour of studying and then he was free for the rest of the day. It was quite a quiet day. He finished eating before he and Hermione made their way back to Ravenclaw tower in the west wing of the castle to get their books. They just decided to follow some other Ravenclaws who they had overheard saying that they needed to get some of their books. As soon as they had collected their book they tried locating the Potions classroom down in the dungeons. Harry was convinced that there should be a map of the school given out to every student because he wasn't sure if he would ever remember the outlay of it.

With about five minutes to spare they found that there weren't many students, mostly Hufflepuffs so Harry took it as their common room wasn't exactly far from here. When the five minutes of waiting were over, on the second they were over that is, the dungeon door slammed open and the professor that had sneered at him while the sorting yesterday, appeared at the door. He looked critically at them all and had a confused look when his eyes landed on Harry but it quickly disappeared and he motioned for them to enter the classroom. Harry and Hermione found seats in the middle of the classroom. Some students were late for the first lesson but that was to be expected but Snape still removed a point for every student that was late so Ravenclaw lost 4 points whereas Hufflepuff only lost 1. As professor Snape was explaining 'the subtle art which is potions making' he looked around the class and when his eyes landed upon Harry, Harry thought he saw a flicker of regret on his face but he must have imagined it because when he blinked it was gone.

After the explanation, they had to brew a forgetfulness potion. Harry was lucky that he had sat next to Hermione because Potions was probably the class he had the least studied for. He enjoyed it more than he thought he would and told himself that he would study it more so he understood the basics. At the end of the lesson, Snape went round the classroom and looked at each potion and critiqued every single one of them. They were better than what he had expected he said but that they were all quite far from being prodigies in the art. Harry was quite proud he and Hermione had made, although it was mostly thanks to Hermione that it turned out to actually be a potion and not an explosion. They then made their way to the History of Magic classroom. This however was with the Slytherins. The blond haired boy and his two cronies made his way over to Harry and Hermione. "Harry Potter, I'm Draco Malfoy. I just I'd tell you that I can help you out. You don't want to making friends with the wrong sort of people, it's not good for your image" he said lifting his hand a bit for Harry to shake while looking at Hermione with disgust written all over his face and then looking at Harry with a smirk on his face that Harry wanted to wipe off, oh so badly.

"I think I can't tell the wrong sorts for myself thanks" Harry replied rather calmly and it worked, Malfoy's smirk turned into a full on sneer and turning back while most of the Ravenclaws were laughing and some of the Slytherins were gawking at him as if what he had just done was something they wouldn't dare do for some reason. But the honey blond haired girl in Slytherin who had caught Harry's eye during the sorting still had an expressionless mask on her face and she seemed completely uninterested. Hermione thanked him for what he did and they just continued to talk among themselves and Michael Corner, a fellow Ravenclaw.

History of Magic was taught by a ghost, so Harry thought that it would quite interesting to see it from the point of view of somebody that was actual History himself. Of course, that turned out to be wrong as it was the most boring class he had ever attended in his life. He was sure that he had dozed off at least five times by the time the hour was over. Everyone seemed to be about as bored as he did. Next was Herbology, also with the Slytherins. Harry didn't expect to like this, he had done enough gardening at the Dursley's to remove the possibility of liking it at all. They had teamed up with Michael Corner for this class as they had to be in groups of 3. Malfoy was with a tall dark skinned boy and a girl with a pug face, well that's what Harry thought it looked like. After that class they made their way back to the Great Hall to eat. All the first year Ravenclaws were walking together and getting to know one another. In Harry's year Ravenclaws, there was Anthony Goldstein, Michael Corner, Terry Boot, Kevin Entwhistle and Stephan Cornfoot in boys, in the girls there was Padma Patil, Mandy Brocklehurst, Su Li, Lisa Turpin, Morag Macdougal and of course, Hermione. They all seemed quite nice although the girls seemed more interested in him than any of the other boys which made Harry rather uncomfortable so he waited for the boys to catch up and stayed with them. They all had lunch together and then during their study hour Harry and Hermione did the potions essay Snape had given them to do on how to brew the forgetfulness potion and it's uses.

After that, all the first years had the rest of the day off, so Harry along with Hermione and Neville made their way outside onto the grounds as it was a nice day. It was a bit chilly but could they expect any better as they were currently in Scotland. Harry was reading in advance on his potion book while Hermione having already finished hers asked Harry if she could borrow his book on duelling that he had bought the first time he was in Diagon Alley. Neville was looking into the lake examining some of the plants in there, he seemed to love anything that had to do with plants. Harry thought it was rather odd but hey, everyone likes different things he thought. A while after they had gone out, it was 4.45 P.M, Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle and Parkinson made their way towards them with stupid sneers on their faces although none of them beat Malfoy's.

"Really Scarhead, you turn me down so you can hang out with a Squib and a Mudblood, pfff pathetic..." he said in a disappointed sort of tone. His two bodyguards and his dog, ehm girlfriend Harry reminded himself, started laughing loudly but you could tell how fake they were just by listening. Harry got up and looked at Malfoy with an emotionless face. "Well Heir Malfoy," he said insisting on the Heir part of it, "you seem to have forgotten a few things, if my friend Heir Longbottom was a squib, he wouldn't have been accepted to Hogwarts and I will remind you that all pureblood families started with muggle-borns, even the Malfoy family. So unless you want to insult your own ancestors and family, would suggest you take that back" He said with a glare that was just about equivalent to a basilisk's stare. As Harry said this Malfoy started reaching for his wand but was too late as Harry only had to flick his wrist thanks to his wand holster. By the time Malfoy's wand was out of his pocket, Harry's was already pointing at his neck. A flash of fear passed through Malfoy's and his friends eyes before Malfoy began walking back and leaving with quite a bit of haste, his friends following at a sort of run.

Harry sat back down and looked at his friends. They were gawking at him. Harry, confused something he was used to by now asked them "What are you two gawking at ?" They took a minute to reply but finally Hermione seemed to have recovered first. "Harry, first of all I could feel you magic from down here which is really impressing for your age and secondly, thank you for standing up for us." she said with a small smile still with a look of awe in her eyes. Neville who still couldn't speak just nodded in agreement. "Well you're my friends, of course I'll stand up for you" Hermione's and Neville's smiles grew a lot at this knowing that Harry considered them his friends. After that, they went back to what they were doing.

At 6 P.M, Harry suggested they go back to the common room to get changed and go eat afterwards. When they arrived at the point when Harry and Hermione separated from Neville, they wished him good night and made their way to the blue common room. On their way to the great Hall, just outside of it actually, they were just talking when Harry bumped into someone. He looked up to see who it was and he saw that it was the Griffindor prefect's brother: Ronald Weasley. Harry was about to excuse himself when the red head exploded. "Watch where you're walking Potter !" Several people who were walking past turned around to look at the commotion. Harry not really knowing what to say just said sorry and made his way into the Great Hall with Hermione. He didn't think that he would come to like the boy very much, his temper was way too short. The rest of the meal went normally, the first year Ravenclaws sat together again and got to know each other some more. He found out that Padma Patil was a bit like her sister going by what he had heard of her sharing gossip when ever the opportunity arose. Anthony Goldstein Michael Corner liked pulling pranks, not as major ones as the infamous Weasley twins. Harry liked the idea too and the three of them were already coming up with a prank to use on Professor Quirell who apparently was one of the worst DADA teachers Hogwarts had had in quite a while.

As they finished eating, they all made their way to Ravenclaw tower where they played a game called exploding snap together. Harry was okay at it but Hermione was terrible, she couldn't win a single game throughout the night whereas Harry at least won two. Around 10 P.M, Harry made his way up to the first year's dormitory, got changed, grabbed a book and settled himself down on his bed. The book was called: The pureblood Rules Everyone Should Know. He thought it would be a good idea to read up on it as he was going to be Lord of three Houses later on and needed to know at least the basics. He eventually fell asleep while reading a part about wards on the family houses of each family. For example, it is said that the Black family house is protected by wards that would make anyone trying to enter uninvited go insane.

A/N: Thank you again for your reviews, Apparently you are enjoying this fic quite a bit. I hope this chapter wasn't too long, I just wanted an episode on the general day for them. If you have something you want me to implement in the story, leave a review and I will see where it could fit in the story I've planned but I won't promise anything :)

Replies:

About the new glasses and contacts, Harry doesn't need them as when the Horcrux was removed from his scar, he found out that he could see perfectly.

He won't end up looking like James, it's just the beginning and he will change drastically eventually.

Just made sure and August does have 31 days :)

Harry will be good in dueling but will also be good at quidditch but won't be doing it for all the years he is here because he will realise he has other things to do, for example concentrating on duelling.

Yes Harry will still try to be friends with Ron even after the events in this chapter.

Yes, I'm planning on Harry having more friends all over, he will try that when he is fully comfortable with Neville and Hermione which won't be long.

And yes Harry and Hermione will be looking out for 'a certain spacey blonde' as you put it during their second year.
