Day 2
Rays of sun shined through the cracks of the crumbling house, glistening in Eren's eyes as he began to wake. The direct sunlight was something he wasn't used to, which was the first confusing thing. The scratchy blanket that tickled his arms also wasn't something he recognised, which was the second thing that confused him. Am I not in my bed? He wondered, shifting slightly. Light air drifted past his eyes, making him instinctually bring up his hand to rub his tired ridden eyes. When he opened said eyes, Captain Levi's face lay mere inches from his, which was the third thing.
Eren couldn't help but jolt, heart racing, realising that he had had his hand sprawled across Levi, Levi's arm wrapped around him and had his head on Levi's shoulder. He instantly regretted the jolt as Levi started to stir ever so slightly. All of the events from the past day came rushing back to him. The mission, the titans, Levi being captured, Eren not being able to transform. And them, being stuck out here because of him.
Eren found his attention quickly diverting back to the Captain however. He couldn't help but think he looked so calm in his sleeping state. His brows weren't in their usual furrowed position, his lips slightly parted with small breaths escaping.
What to do, he thought wriggling a bit. One the one hand, he wanted to not move so that the captain could sleep longer, without a chance of waking him up. On the other, what would Levi do when he found out they were tangled together in bed?
Eren decided not to take his chances and slowly, ever so carefully extracted himself from the captain's hold. Levi groaned slightly at the loss of heat, turned his head the other way, and fell asleep again once more. Eren let out a sigh of relief. He wandered to the wooden frame of the doorway to find his pack where he had left it.
The sky was a clear blue, sounds of leaves and grass rustling echoed through the fields of towering trees and dotted houses. He looked out to the distance. He would need to go out to find more supplies, see if any of the other houses held anything useful. Also food was going to be a problem. They were probably going to run out soon, even if they kept their meals to a minimum. He'd never hunt before! He thought worriedly. What would he do if he couldn't find food for them, letting Levi down again? Leaving him would also be a dangerous thing to do, he couldn't be gone very long or go very far.
He released a sigh of frustration, raking his hands through his chestnut hair. The bed creaked from inside the wooden room, sending Eren's gaze to follow it. Levi sat on the side of the bed, rubbing the tiredness from his eyes, his injured leg hanging gingerly off the side. 'Morning' He stated simply as Eren approached him. 'Er- morning' Eren replied awkwardly. 'Sleep well?' Levi asked back, looking at the tall figure just stand there.
'Uh- yeah I did' Thoughts of Levi's sleeping face so close to his own came rushing back, making him unconsciously scratch his head and look away, his face raising in heat. 'I was thinking about going out to the village to see if I could find anything useful, could be nice to find an extra blanket or maybe some food somewhere.' Eren suggested.
'Yeah that's probably a good plan. But you're gonna leave me here just to rest in this bed?' He quipped.
'Well yeah, you can't exactly come with.' Levi pondered, seemingly thinking the same line. 'Well I'll sit outside so I can at least keep watch. If a pack of wild bandits or something comes I'll be able to call for you.' Eren tilted his head 'Bandits? In these parts?' He mused
'You may doubt me now Jaeger but when you come back to see me being attack by the bandits, then you'll be really guilty.' Levi quipped sarcastically.
'Aha- Alright, I'll pull the chair outside.' He stepped towards the rickety old chair and carried it outside, just beside the doorway. As he came back for Levi, he was already lifting himself from the bed, trying to balance himself on his own. Eren quickened his pace towards the now stumbling man. 'Levi be carefu-'
Levi lost balance, causing him to grunt and send him face first towards the floor. Luckily, Eren managed to scoop him up before colliding with the wooden surface. He landed against him with a thud, Eren struggling with his own balance. Levi's face was once again mere inches from his, his piercing blue eyes looking panicked into his own green. He lifted both of them up, keeping a steady hand around his waist so Levi could lean on him.
Levi simply sighed, 'Thank you' he breathed, frustration ringing. Eren proceeded to help Levi hobble to the placed chair. Arm wrapped around him and Levi firmly against his side. He then gently placed him on the chair, making sure he was completely settled before backing off.
Eren then slipped on the belts and manoeuvre gear from inside. He studied his blades. He only had four left, two dulled and cracking. He prayed he wouldn't need to use them, with the blades and his ODM skills in a parallel sorry state, he couldn't help but worry what could happen.
Eren slid one of the shining blades out and handed it to Levi. 'For the bandits' He mused, a sly smirk on his face. 'Won't see me coming' Levi replied, taking the perfect metal from his hands and placing it in his lap.
'I won't be gone long' and with that, Eren headed for the land of scattered trees and houses, Levi watching as his figure became smaller and smaller in the distance.
