Since I was stuck taking up space in Hank's house I decided that the best way to pass the time was to have someone to talk to me. As Connor seemed to think it was his responsibilty to look after me until I could return home I decided he was the best candiate. Possibly the most fun too judging from the blank stare he gave me once I suggested playing a game.
"A game?" Connor repeated and I sighed, rolling my eyes towards the ceiling when he chewed his lip.
"You've never played a game before? Well there's a first time for everything I guess. It's easy." I assured him, shifting over until I was sitting with my knees inches from Connor's who barely even noticed more curious about the game then at how close I was sitting to him. "We take it in turns to ask the other a question about themselves. See? Easy."
I watched the LED on one side of Connor's head glow yellow and after a few seconds it returned to a familiar blue before Connor gave me a tiny smile. "Since you suggested it you should start. Ask whatever you want." He said and I nodded, thinking about my first question carefully. While I had my attention focused elsewhere Connor focused on me, noting the way I chewed my lower lip as I thought.
"Okay so I thought of something to ask you." I said and he blinked his attention moving from my mouth to my eyes. "A little distracted are we?" I teased and he let out what could only be a snort, his expression neutral as he waited for me to ask. "My question is how did you end up living with Hank?"
"That...is a long story, Lola." Connor said and I rolled my eyes, clearing my throat. "Are you sure you want to hear it?"
"I'm not exactly going anywhere, Connor." I pointed out as I waved one hand over my leg. A tiny smile curled onto his lips and I found myself smiling back, listening as Connor told me the whole story. From searching for Hank Anderson in town, basically checking every bar he could find, to freeing every android in Cyberlife and turning them deviant Connor told me everything not missing one detail.
I hadn't even realized that it had grown dark outside until Connor stopped talking, looking down at his watch and I couldn't help giggling when both of his eyebrows shot towards his forehead. "Lola, I didn't realize we had been talking for two hours." Connor apologized and I just shrugged fighting off a yawn as he started to climb from the couch. "I should let you sleep." He added only to feel my hand on his knee and he froze, staring at me as the LED on his temple flashed red.
"Connor, just chill out for a moment. I was just wondering if you had a blanket you could spare." I told him and he quickly nodded the LED flashing back to blue after I removed my hand though as he straightened I felt his eyes on me when I leaned back against the couch.
I had only shut my eyes for a few minutes when I felt something soft cover my chest and stomach. I cracked open an eye to find Connor leaning over me a blanket clutched between his fingers and as he adjusted it, making sure it covered everything but my head I couldn't help liking the way his lips curled into a smile. I pretended to still be fast asleep not knowing he could check my vitals and hear my heartbeat though when he reached over I froze feeling his fingers gently stroke my forehead.
Connor had only been checking that I didn't have a fever but when his fingertips lingered I wondered just what the android was been planning. Eventually he exited the room heading for his own bedroom and I sighed, pulling the blanket tighter around me before I finally started to drift off into a restful sleep.
