A week later, Carla and Peter had finally worked things out without any huge arguments between them. It was getting them both down, and it was completely unnecessary so they continued to work on their communication and avoided Tina at all costs so that no one would jump to conclusions.
Things were going so well again that, today they had a viewing in a Victoria Court flat. They were both so excited to finally find a place of their own considering they've been back together for a long time now and were still going between their parents homes . This gave them the chance to become even closer and Carla couldn't contain her happiness about this.
"You look stunning." Peter complimented the woman as she walked into the living room, putting in her hoop earrings.
"Today is a big day," She replied, before grabbing her bag and slinging it over her shoulder. "You ready?"
"Yep." Peter smiled, planting a soft kiss on her lips before they exited the Rovers.
"I think this is exactly what we need, Peter. A new place, a fresh start. It'll really concrete our relationship."
"I agree, love. I can't believe it's taken us this long." He chuckled.
"I don't know how we've managed to deal with Jenny for so long. Plus, being surrounded by folk like Ken and Roy..." She joked.
"We're just a walking dictionary at this point."
She laughed, as they strode down the street, hand-in-hand.
"I hope you're aware that you will have some decorating duties to be doing if we like this place."
"Me?"
"Yes, you!" She scoffed, playfully.
"I'm not doing it by myself. You'll have to get your hands dirty."
"When have you ever known me to get my hands dirty, Peter?" She raised her eyebrows.
"Who decorated it when you lived with Nick?" He questioned.
"I think we paid someone to do it. I was ordering them about."
"You're ridiculous." He laughed, secretly loving her bossy and hard-faced side.
"Does Victoria Court take you back to being with Nick?" He added.
"Not really. I mean, I see him almost every day anyway so it wouldn't bother me." She shrugged.
"I still find the fact you went out with Nick flamin' Tilsley very amusing."
"Oh, do you now? Bet if you were on the street back then, you would've been cheering your sister on, Ey?"
"Of course," He said. "Because there's only one man for you and you're looking at him."
She laughed, as they entered the building to start the viewing.
"Oh, baby. How nice was that?" She exclaimed, leaning on his shoulder in an affectionate way.
The viewing couldn't have gone better. It was the perfect home for them and exactly how Carla imagined it. It wasn't too big but was enough to store all of their belongings, including Carla's many pairs of shoes. They put an offer in and now were feeling very content over the future.
"Couldn't have gone better," He said, softly. "Do you want to have lunch at Speed Dial?"
"Ah, aright then." Carla grinned, feeling like their relationship was stronger than ever.
As they entered Speed Dial, they ordered their food and coyly stared at each other.
"Do you think we'll get it?" Carla's eyed glinted.
"Our offer was high."
"Hmm," Carla nodded. "We'll have to tell Jenny in a bit. She'll probably be relieved to have more time to herself."
"She has guests living there, I don't think it'll make any difference." He laughed.
"At least she can get another bedroom available for guests. More money coming in."
"Yeah," He sighed. "And we've got a spare room at our new place for Simon if he wants to stay the night."
"We're acting like it's already ours," She chuckled. "And it's not far from Leanne so he can switch between."
"Exactly," He stared into her emerald eyes and licked his lips. "I do love you."
"And I love you." She murmured, leaning forwards to plant a soft kiss on his lips.
"What do you want to do after this? Steve said I don't have to go back to work."
"I hate to spoil the moment but I've got a meeting later, baby." She groaned.
"Oh, what time?"
"Six. But it's in Bristol so I'll have to leave soon." She checked the time on her phone.
"Bristol?" He exclaimed, his eyes widening.
"Did I not tell you?" She frowned.
"No? Are you staying over then?"
"Yeah, I've booked a hotel. I thought I told you, baby."
"I was hoping we could spend some quality time together tonight."
"We can do that another time, put on a film or something." She sighed.
"A film? I mean some proper quality time together." He squeezed her hand.
Biting her lip, she was definitely not in the mood for anything sexual. Since being put on her psychosis medication, her sex drive had completely gone down. She knew Peter understood but at times she felt incredibly insecure and guilty about it, especially when she sensed Peter wanted more from her.
"Yeah but not tonight. I'll be back first thing."
"Alright." He muttered, clearly in a mood.
She held back showing her annoyance over his reaction. It wasn't her fault that he'd forgotten she had a meeting in Bristol, it was her job and they needed the money anyway. He'd ruined their little love bubble and she couldn't help but feel bitter about it.
"When are you leaving?" He added.
"Not yet," She paused. "So let's enjoy this lunch first."
"Bye, love!" Peter waved as Carla drove down the cobbles.
He was about to go back into the Rover's before exhaling as he sees Tina walking towards him...
"Hey." She whispered, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Er, hi." Peter shifted, awkwardly, before gesturing to the door. "Look, I better-..."
"I'm not going to jump onto you, Peter." She cut him off, smiling.
"Yeah I know." He replied, smiling sheepishly.
"So, how've you been?" She asked.
"Yeah, good. You?" He said, trying to remain polite but blunt.
"I've been alright. But I missed the company around here." She hinted.
"So that's why you're back?"
"Mm," She bit her lip. "So I see you're back with Carla. How much grovelling did you have to do?"
"We are meant to be together." He cleared his throat, looking down.
"That's not what you were saying back then."
"I need to go-..." He stammered.
"Just relax, Peter. You're only talking to me and Carla isn't here."
"It's not that."
"We're mature enough to have a conversation." She shrugged.
"I don't think it's right with our history." He said, quietly.
"Well, I missed you." She smiled, softly.
"Oi!" A voice roared, striding over to the pair.
"Oh, just my favourite person," Tina smirked. "Hey, Tracy."
"Don't you dare!" Tracy shouted.
"Here we go." Tina laughed.
"Who do you think you are? Coming back to the street after everything you've caused. Do you know how much you ruined my life?"
"Chill out, Tracy. Rob tried to kill me, what was I supposed to do!"
"No, you were blackmailing him and fell off the balcony! So you took your opportunity and got him banged up for life. You're sick!" Tracy yelled, as Peter placed a hand on her arm.
"Trace, she isn't worth it." Peter muttered.
Tina scrunched her face up, looking at Peter in disgust.
"Why am I the bad guy in this? I nearly died!"
"It's a shame you didn't!" Tracy scoffed.
"It was six years ago. You need to get over it." She shook her head.
"You need to get back to London because you are not welcomed here."
"Too bad because I am staying." Tina looked smug.
"She wants you to react, Tracy. Let's go." Peter turned around to walk to Ken's instead, dragging Tracy along with him.
"Leave us alone, Tina." He snapped.
"We'll see about that."
Tina is determined to get what she wants...I hope you're enjoying it so far!
