Hi how r u all? Hope u r good. Enjoy!
Theo POV
All colours danced around. The crowd millimetres away from each other. People's bodies grinding up one another. A thick layer of mist swirled around our feet. For a nightclub, it wasn't very loud. We were in mundane form (touchable). Despite all its faults, this is a place of worship as it provides the 'ultimate fun'.
Harold stalked to the bar and grabbed a stool. He ordered two shots and offered me one. I shook my head. No drinking on the job. One of my rules. Harold left it there and muttered "You'll need it."
I didn't know what that meant. "Harold, why so many transfers?"
"Honestly," he started. "I don't feel good enough for them." I nodded in empathy. Often, I felt like that too. "And Mila is... different. There is a lot in her backstory. Plus, she is stunning. You'd like her."
Long ago, I gave up on a love life. I settled for work, my parents, my friends and my siblings. I did have the occasional fling, but that was mostly when I was younger. That lasted 4 years, it's not about to rupture for one girl. "She can't be that hot." I replied.
"Oh yes she can."
"Wanna bet?"
"Go on then, you buy the drinks for the rest of the night and give me 50 bucks when..."
"If."
"When I win." He sounded pretty confident. We shook hands. "You're jaw will drop. You haven't seen true beauty till you've seen her." He muttered something else that I couldn't hear. Ok, I admit now I was worried. If he was that confident she must be very beautiful. Also, Harold wasn't such a bad guy. I think we would make good friends. Gosh, an hour ago I wouldn't have said that.
Harold said "Here she is." I studied his face. Obviously, he wasn't affected by her so called beauty. I turned around.
At the club's entrance was a gorgeous woman. She had loose soft dark brown curls that sat on her shoulders. Her skin was the colour of warm ivory. Her dress accentuated her curves. It sparkled like the rest of her. She was literally the diamond in the rough. I couldn't see her eye colour from here but I had no doubt that it was heavenly like everything else. Her smile was winsome and irresistible.
I took the shot that stood full on the bar counter. Harold was right. My jaw did drop.
"You owe me drinks and 50 bucks." He said. I pulled my wallet from my jeans and took 60 dollars out. Then he chuckled.
"So what's different about her?"
"Apart from her looks, try reading her mind." I focused my attention on her thoughts. Muses could read surface thoughts and intentions. I hit a stone wall, only it was unbreakable. There were no holes or cracks and it was endless - both sideways and up and down. She was a mystery. Literally an stone wall.
In 9 years of training and being a muse I had never encountered anything like this. Or, in fact, if it had ever been known to happen. She was walking to the bar now. I noticed her friends. One particularly clung to her.
This woman had short platinum blonde hair. It was like silk. Her dress was royal blue and short like Mila's. "Who's that?"
"Ash." Harold said in awe. I snorted in amusement. He flashed me a sideways glance. "She is Mila's best friend. She's British, designs cloths, live in the same apartment building as Mila and drags her to nightclubs like this one." He explained. "She is also the most smart, gorgeous, sensitive, caring, kind, funny, strong and all around perfect woman I have ever met."
"Sound like someone's got a crush."
"Indeed."
"Do you know anything else about Mila?"
"She works 1 job, 2 part time jobs and random shifts. Basically, she has no time for herself and barely sleeps. She has a cat in which is the only family I have heard her talk about. She has no love life or social life either." I stood up and began to walk to them. Harold grabbed my arm. "What are you doing?"
"Going to learn more about her."
"By talking to her."
"No I am going to stand next to her and stare at her. Yes I am going to talk to her." He still looked wary. "Look, you said nothing about her past which means something happened to her and I need to find out."
Ok done! Plz review! I know no one is reading these but I write them anyway. Have a great day!
