A/N: Hi guys, sorry that I took so long to post this chapter, I just got busy with some school stuff. I am free now, and I finally finished this chapter with the next one already in the works. I hope you all enjoy! P.S: PLEASE READ AND REVIEW!
Being late in the night, the Howells decided to turn in to the hut.
Ginger wanted to look for Gilligan and Mary Ann to see how they were coming along, and the Professor reluctantly agreed.
"I still don't think we should be spying on them," the Professor said as they were walking to the lagoon.
"We're not spying, we're just seeing if they're doing ok," Ginger replied.
They came upon two shadows in the pale moonlight by the lagoon. The shadows, whom they identified as Gilligan and Mary Ann, were sleeping in each others' arms.
"Look, they seem to be doing alright. Better than alright even," the Professor observed.
"I know, but who knows what could've been going on considering how upset Mary Ann seemed."
"That is true. Well, I think we should be going back now. It's getting late."
"I don't think I can sleep after everything that happened today. I'm too exhausted to sleep," Ginger joked. "Why don't we stay out here for a while. It's such a pretty night."
"Alright, we can stay awhile."
Ginger and the Professor picked a spot by the clearing in the jungle to sit down and enjoy the night around them.
"Sometimes I'm almost glad that we got shipwrecked on this island. Everything's always so pretty out here. You don't get this kind of a view in Hollywood."
"How was Hollywood?"
"The beaches are pretty, but nothing like this."
"I don't mean the scenery. How was life for you there, Ginger?"
Ginger was happy that the Professor seemed to be showing some interest in talking to her. She always harbored a bit of a crush for the academic.
"Life was alright. There was the good and the bad. Movies were always fun, no matter how small the role was. Maybe it's just because I love acting so much. It wasn't all that nice, though. Mostly everyone only cared for what you could do for them. You never really knew who really cared about you. It got awfully lonely there sometimes."
"I can imagine. I guess it's easy to get lost within the glamor."
"Yeah, like that. How was life for you in Ohio?"
"There isn't much to say. I mostly worked all day, teaching at the university. When I wasn't teaching, I was researching some scientific finding or another."
"You must have done something fun. Did you ever have anyone special back at home?"
"Not really, I didn't have time for recreation. My colleagues tried to set me up on a couple of dates, but nothing serious. Why do you ask?"
"Oh nothing, I just assumed that you would have had a girlfriend considering how handsome and smart you are," Ginger flirted.
The Professor was shocked, and frankly a little happy, that Ginger would consider him handsome.
"You think I'm handsome?"
"Who wouldn't? Professor, you look better than any man I ever saw in Hollywood. And I love a man with a high IQ."
The Professor thought that this was the right time to go back to camp. He knew that if he sat here with Ginger flirting with him any longer, that he wouldn't be able to contain his manly urges any longer. He was always attracted to the movie star.
"I think we better get back to camp. It's getting late, and we want to be back before sunrise."
"Oh yes, we should go now."
As Ginger got up to follow the Professor, she felt something poke her foot.
"Ow!" she exclaimed.
"Ginger, are you alright?"
"No, something's poking my foot! I think there's a thorn stuck in there."
The Professor bent down to look at her foot.
"It appears to be an arrowhead. It's design matches that of the Papuan tribe."
"Well, that's interesting, Professor, can you get it out now?"
"Oh yes, that shouldn't be too hard." The Professor pulled the arrowhead out of her foot. "See, there you go."
"My, that arrowhead sure looks scary."
"Yes, and it appears to be relatively new, too."
"Do you think headhunters left it here?" Ginger asked worriedly.
"Perhaps, but I doubt it. If it was a headhunter arrow, it would have been directed to harm us directly. Judging by the relatively newness of the arrowhead and it's failure to harm us, I would say it was left befhind by some peaceful natives who were visiting."
"Well that's a relief."
"Not entirely. If we had come into contact with these peaceful natives by chance, we may have been able to reverse Mary Ann and Gilligan's curse. We might have even had a chance at rescue."
"How would that have reversed their curse?"
"Well considering that this is a curse put upon by the Papuans, then they would have a remedy ready to reverse its effects."
"Oh right! They would have a solution to this. Wait, Professor, how do we know that they aren't still on the island?"
"Ginger! That's a good point! We don't know when they left the arrowhead here. but I'm sure we would have noticed it if it were there sooner, so they must still be on the island. It may be unlikely, but it's still worth a try to find them. We should start tomorrow, and now I think we need a good night's sleep."
The Professor insisted on walking Ginger to her hut, and the whole time Ginger was just floating on cloud 9. She was absolutely elated that the Professor had finally taken some notice in her. Suddenly, she had an idea. It might be risky, but she knew it was worth the risk.
"Professor, can I ask you something?"
"What is it Ginger?"
"Can I spend the night with you?"
If the Professor were drinking something at that moment, he for sure would have spit his drink out.
"Sp- Spend the night... with you?" he asked. He was absolutelly flustered.
"It's just that Mary Ann doesn't seem to be coming back tonight, and I get awfully scared sleeping alone. I wouldn't take up much space. I just need a little corner to sleep in."
"Well, I suppose that wouldn't hurt," he replied still a bit shocked. When that woman wanted something, she sure got it.
Ginger thanked the Professor, and they headed off into his hut.
A/N: I cannot describe fully what took place in the Professor's hut because then I would need to change the rating to M. If you are curious about what transpired, I will be uploading a seperate one-shot that describes what went on in there. If you don't want to read the one-shot, you don't have to because it won't affect your understanding of the story. Thank You!
