Chapter 5- Battles for the Stones
Wakanda
The army was speeding to the front line on hover ships, which included the Avengers and the Scoobies, though Peter was simply swinging around on the trees using his webs.
"How we looking, Bruce?" Natasha asked Bruce.
Bruce was unable to turn into Hulk so now he was wearing the Iron Man Armor: Mark XLVIII, also known as Hulkbuster 2.0.
"Yeah, I think." Bruce said happily as he ran around wearing it, "I'm getting the hang of it. Wow! This is amazing, man. It's like being the Hulk without actually..."
He tripped on a rock and fell down as Okoye gave him a look.
Buffy chuckled and shook her head as Spike said. "Well, he's good for entertainment at least."
"I like him", Peter muttered with a chuckle of his own before swinging away.
Bruce got back up, cleaning his visor. "I'm okay. I'm okay."
"I've got two heat signatures breaking through the tree line." Rhodes noted and the atmosphere immediately turned grim.
"Have to be the Black Order", Giles muttered.
The drop ships had all finished dropping outside the barrier now.
The hover ships all stopped and everyone landed at their destinations at last, taking positions.
Steve, Natasha, Bucky, Logan, Clint, Buffy, Willow, Tara, Spike and Giles all stood in front of some of the Wakandan army, and then Peter and swung and landed near them. "Well, this is it, gotta do it, gotta be serious now."
Bruce in the suit stood a little behind them.
M'Baku and the Jabbari Tribe were cheering as T'Challa walked to him and they shook hands. "Thank you for standing with us."
"Of course, brother." M'Baku replied in Xhosa.
"Anyone greeting them?" Peter asked as he noticed Midnight touching the barrier with her blade.
"Buffy, Nat, you're with us", Steve said and the pair nodded in agreement at his orders.
Together Steve, Buffy, Natasha and T'Challa walked to the barrier, looking at Cull Obsidian and Proxima Midnight.
"Where's your other friend?" Natasha asked casually.
"You will pay for his life with yours." Midnight sneered, "Thanos will have that Stone."
"That's not gonna happen." Steve said firmly.
"He can have it…in his dreams", Buffy said, still angry at him for being in her dream and killing her younger sister's boyfriend and her good friend Peter in it.
"You are in Wakanda now." T'Challa said coolly to the three, "Thanos will have nothing but dust and blood."
"We…..have blood to spare." Midnight said and raised her sword high.
"That include Thanos'?" Buffy asked rhetorically, but wasn't answered.
Then one of the dropships grew larger as if it was going to spit something out. The group sensed the fight was about to begin and silently made their way back to their allies.
"They surrender?" Bucky cheekily asked Steve.
"Not exactly." Steve said as he, Natasha and Buffy stood alongside him and the rest.
"Didn't think so." Logan said.
"So now we fight then." Willow said.
"Yeah." Tara agreed sadly. "It was always going to come to this."
"Fine by me", Spike shrugged.
"We can do this, right guys?" Buffy asked and the rest nodded, though they were not fully sure themselves.
"Oh we will", Clint said, narrowing his eyes again.
"We can't let them win", Giles muttered.
Then Midnight raised her sword and several creatures rushed out of the dropships.
"Yibambe!" T'Challa chanted and his troops repeated.
The creatures then came into plain view. They were four-armed and black with some gold on them, and looked quite ugly.
"What the hell?" Bucky muttered.
"Looks like we pissed her off", Natasha quipped.
"What was your first hint?" Buffy asked sarcastically.
The Outriders rushed the barrier and to the shock of everyone, started pushing through, ignoring their burning skins.
"Good", Spike smirked and was shot looks so he shut up.
"They got anything new?" Clint muttered.
"They're killing themselves", Okoye said, horrified by the ferocity.
"Guess they don't care", Willow sighed as she and Tara prepared to fire magic blasts, and so did Giles.
T'Challa gave a command and all the Wakandans brandished their energy shields for protection while high-tech spears and balls of magic (by Willow, Tara and Giles) were raised, as well as a bow and arrow by Clint, as well as a gun by Bucky.
And then the Wakandans fired, taking down some as Bucky too fired from his gun, and Willow, Tara and Giles fired some balls of magic, throwing some back, and Clint fired his arrow, which divided into some and took some more down.
Sam fired guided missiles from Redwing, killing more Outriders as he asked, "You see the teeth on those things?"
"All right, back up, all of you." Rhodes said as he flew up to the Outriders while the others backed off. Grenades were ejected from the back of his suit, killing several of the enemies at the barriers again.
Then they noticed the foes were all circling the perimeter of the shield to get to the other way.
"Cap, if these things circle the perimeter and get in behind us...there's nothing between them and Vision." Bruce warned him.
"Well, shit", Logan sighed.
"Then we better keep 'em in front of us." Steve said.
"How do we do that?" Okoye asked as T'Challa considered.
"Draw them to us." Buffy said in realization.
"That's the only thing that can work now." Natasha said.
"We open the barrier." T'Challa finally said before tapping his comms, "On my signal, open North-West Section Seventeen."
"Requesting confirmation, My King. You said open the barrier?" The technician asked from the other end.
"On my signal." T'Challa confirmed coolly.
"This will be the end of Wakanda." M'Baku muttered.
"Then it will be the noblest ending in history." Okoye said.
Steve held up his new shield as Buffy prepared with her hammer. T'Challa then gave a command as all barriers were lowered.
"Never been part of a war before", Willow muttered as she and Tara held hands, a bit frightened.
"Stay high, and use your magic", Giles instructed.
"Will do", Tara nodded.
Spike was now in Vamp face.
T'Challa stepped to the front and shouted. "WAKANDA FOREVER!"
He then lowered his helmet as all of the Wakandan army charged together with the Avengers and the Scooby Gang.
Sam and Rhodes took flight, and then Willow and Tara took flight using their magic too, followed by Giles, though they were slower.
As they got closer, T'Challa ordered. "Now!"
And then a small part of the barrier opened up as the Outriders came charging in too.
Peter, Steve, Buffy, T'Challa, Logan, Bucky and Spike outran the other defenders using their superior speed.
Peter then fired a web at a tree and using it to swing, kicked two Outriders away. "INCOMING!"
Steve, T'Challa, Buffy, Logan, Bucky and Spike then leapt at the Outriders. Steve gutted them with his shield as Logan and T'Challa both killed them with their claws, and Buffy struck two of them with her Troll Hammer, sending them flying off as they roared in pain, and Bucky whacked one with his gun before shooting another down, and Spike struggled with one before managing to barely punch it away. "These are tough sods!"
Soon, the rest of the army was involved in the battle too.
Willow and Tara then held hands, forming a protective force field around them, sending back Outriders that leapt at them, and telekinetically hurled them outside the barrier while Giles threw down blasts of magic, taking two more down.
Clint fired an arrow and it sent a shockwave through one Outrider, making it spasm as Natasha struck another with her batons very swiftly, sending it back barely.
Steve pinned one down and gutted it brutally with his shields while Logan leapt at another with a roar, sending his claws through its mouth, and Spike held another in a chokehold struggling with it before kicking its feet with his own, and managed to toss it down before sliding it away.
"How much longer, Shuri?" T'Challa asked his sister via comms as he took down one more.
"I've barely begun, brother." She said from the other end.
"You might want to pick up the pace." He said as he sliced another down while Peter flipped over another, kicking one more back, and then used his webbing to pull two back, throwing them away, while Buffy brought her hammer down on another one.
Shuri continued working on Vision as Wanda, Dawn, Xander and Anya watched in concern, Anya muttering. "I wonder how it's going out there."
"They will win, they have to", Dawn replied firmly.
Same time, Nidavellir
Thor stood at the iris of the crippled mechanism, knowing what he had to do as he took fast breaths.
"Allfathers, give me strength." He whispered.
"You understand, boy? You're about to take the full force of a star. It'll kill you." Eitri warned one last time.
"Only if I die." Thor said and Eitri looked puzzled.
"Yes." He said, "That's what killing you means."
Thor reached out and grasping the handles, took one more deep breath. And then he pulled with all of his might. Slowly, the iris started opening and once it was fully open, the energy of the star shot out and onto the forge.
The energy struck the panel, powering up the forge and igniting the flames beneath the crucible where the metal meant for Stormbreaker was.
"Hold it! Hold it, Thor!" Eitri yelled as he ran towards the crucible. Thor roared in pain, trying to resist the pain and holding the crucible open. The energy he was withstanding was more than enough to destroy even Jupiter so it was a testament to Thor's might that he was still alive.
Eitri watched the metal melt and pushed a wheel, turning the crucible far enough for the Uru to pour out and into the mold.
During this time, Thor's screams of pain grew louder as the energy charred him badly. Unable to hold any longer, he lost consciousness and let go. He dropped down towards the forge as the iris closed at last. Rocket Raccoon flew after him in his pod as Thor hit a pole hanging on the ceiling and came crashing down to the floor.
Rocket got out of the pod and tried to help Thor, "Thor! Say something. Come on. Thor, you okay?"
Groot was now looking up from his game at Rocket trying to help Thor and seemed concerned.
Looking up at Eitri, Rocket said in concern, "I think he's dying."
"He needs the axe!" Eitri said firmly and tore the mold open, forging the pieces. He then looked around and realized a crucial part of the weapon was missing.
"Where's the handle?" He asked before asking Groot, "Tree, help me find the handle!"
Groot looked towards a dying Thor and then at the two pieces of Stormbreaker, glowing red hot. The flame of decision formed in his eyes as he reached out and growing a hand, wrapped it around the two pieces of the ax, lifting them up while ignoring the pain from the heat. He connected them as the branches intertwined, straightening into a handle. He grew his fingers a little more to make the makeshift handle a little sturdier.
With a roar, he cut off his arm, with the completed Stormbreaker now falling to the ground.
Thor's fingers on his right hand twitched as Stormbreaker lifted off the ground, lightning sparking off it as some also sparked between Thor's fingertips.
Same time, Wakanda
Bruce flew onto the ground, knocking some Outriders away while Bucky fired around with his gun but one disarmed him and threw him down as Bucky tried to stab it.
Spike punched one Outrider away before another kicked him down from behind, trying to get onto him. "Bloody hell!"
Steve, Peter, Buffy, Logan and T'Challa were the only ones holding up properly now outside of the fliers.
Steve punched an Outrider away in a spin motion as T'Challa flipped and kicked another while Peter slid underneath another and pulling it with his web, threw it off, and Buffy hit one's feet with her hammer in a spin motion, taking it down as she brought the hammer down on it, with Logan managing to chop off one's hand before kicking it away.
Rhodes was firing around with his guns as Willow, Tara and Giles sent down energy blasts as well as telekinetic blasts when Cull's hammer flew at them.
Rhodes was hit and thrown down while Willow and Tara formed a joint force field by holding hands and Giles formed his own but the blow of the hammer was still enough to send them to the ground, though they landed on their feet.
Cull caught his hammer back on return, standing next to Midnight at the opening of the barrier.
T'Challa was also pushed down by some Outriders who dragged him away while Steve tried to hold one back but several more threw him down, trying to bite his legs.
Buffy was suddenly struck on her arm by an Outrider as two leapt at her, trying to her as she gritted her teeth to push them off.
"Damn it, damn it, damn it!" Peter was saying as he webbed one Outrider up till it was a cocoon and as his spider sense tingled, he flipped to avoid a strike from behind and landed on it, trapping its neck with his webs as the Outrider struggled but failed.
Bruce was firing at them when several Outriders jumped on him, tackling him to the ground.
"There's too many of 'em!" He yelled in despair.
All hope seemed lost. The army of Thanos was gaining the upper hand.
Then a beam of light shot down from the heavens, incinerating all the Outriders standing there.
Stormbreaker flew out of the Bifrost, flying and twirling in the air as lightning ran through it. It killed several scores of Outriders, including the ones that were upon Steve, Buffy, Spike and Bruce. It flew back towards the Bifrost which dissipated as Thor caught it in his hand on return, with Rocket and Groot standing with him.
"Oh my God!" Buffy said with an awed smile as Willow, Tara and Giles were awed too on seeing the God of Thunder in front of them.
"God of Thunder", Giles whispered, feeling hopeful now.
"Now I like these odds!" Spike said with a cheer.
"I think we're gonna win now", Tara said now.
"Took the words right out of my mouth", Willow smiled.
"Now they're in over their heads", Peter said, looking at Thor with an awed smile hidden behind his mask.
Natasha, Steve and T'Challa watched in relief as well.
"You guys are so screwed now!" Bruce laughed happily as he retracted his visor.
Midnight and Cull now watched in actual fear.
"BRING ME THANOS!" Thor roared as lightning surged through him. He charged and leapt up, Stormbreaker raised as lightning emanated from him and the now darkened skies. He then brought Stormbreaker down on the ground, with the exploding lightning killing more than 100 Outriders as the ground they were on became a smoldering crater.
Same time, Mephisto's realm
Mephisto was sitting on his throne, watching the Battle of Wakanda for his own amusement. "This is fun, these 'heroes' can do something right."
Then he suddenly felt something, and was shocked for about half a second. "Huh?"
He then opened another projection, this one looking directly at Pylea as he saw the people facing a beast in a black suit, horns, golden fangs, claws popping out of his gauntlets, his eyes glowing a blazy-red fiery inferno, and his exposed mouth a monstrous red.
The Pyleans were ripped apart by it as Team Angel watched in shock while Mephisto commented to the Pyleans while laughing hysterically. "You think you have a chance against my spawn? You are all so pathetic. I needed that laugh."
Same time, Wakanda
Cull was killing some defenders when T'Challa leapt at him and punched him, the kinetic energy sending him down.
"Come and get some, space dogs!" Rocket was shouting nearby as he shot down Outriders. As some reached too close, Buffy, who was standing next to him, helped him up.
She then spun them both around, her hammer hitting any Outrider that got too close while Rocket fired and cheered. "Come on! Get some! Get some! Come on! Get some!"
Buffy then put Rocket down as Spike arrived nearby and hit one Outrider, managing to take it down after a small fight as Rocket asked him. "How much for the jacket?"
"Oh this belongs to me, raccoon, so sod off!" Spike said as he walked off to fight more.
Rocket turned to Buffy. "Okay, how much for the hammer?"
"I'd smash you with this first", she said as she leapt and hit another Outrider with it.
"I'll get that hammer", Rocket muttered as he walked off.
Thor was slaughtering Outriders nearby as he noticed Steve, Peter, Willow and Tara, and they noticed him too.
"New haircut?" Steve asked.
"Noticed you've copied my beard." Thor said as he pointed at Steve's beard and he smirked.
"Can you two keep that look?" Peter asked as the rest chuckled at him.
"You Kevin Bacon?" Thor asked out of curiosity and Peter blushed.
"No!" Peter said.
"We are glad to have you on our side", Tara spoke up.
"Yeah, kick their asses", Willow added and he nodded before gesturing to Groot nearby who stabbed some Outriders with his elongated hand and lifted them up. "By the way, this is a friend of mine, Tree."
"I am Groot!" Groot corrected Thor indignantly.
Tara thought he was introducing himself and gesturing to herself said. "I am Tara."
Then suddenly the ground burst open and five spiked giant spiked wheels burst out. Threshers they were called.
They rolled towards the defenders.
Wanda watched with a conflicted expression on her face when Dawn said. "Go!"
Wanda looked at her as Xander said. "I think they need you more than us right now."
"Fall back, fall back now!" T'Challa said as the wheels roared, Giles grabbing and teleporting him away to save him.
"Focus fire on the left flank, Sam!" Rhodes said as he fired at one.
"I'm doing it!" Sam told him as he fired at it himself.
Buffy, Okoye and Natasha were now fighting side by side when the wheels rolled to them.
Willow and Tara flew nearby, holding hands and forming a force field just in time, before Wanda flew down and using her powers, she stopped the threshers and lifting them up, crushed scores of Outriders with them.
Wanda looked at the other 5 women as Natasha smiled in pride.
"Why was she up there all this time?" Okoye asked randomly.
"She's on the field." Midnight said to her husband via comms. "Take it."
Shuri was working when she heard a roar and turned around to see Glaive fighting and easily taking down the Wakandan guards as she worked faster, trying to finish up.
Xander fired with his gun but Glaive easily deflected before spinning and elbowing Xander, breaking his nose and knocking him out as Dawn and Anya struck with swords simultaneously but he blocked and pushed back, sending them flying off and onto the ground, groaning.
Ayo then battled Glaive, holding up better than the rest before he threw her down.
Shuri stopped her work and taking out her blasters, fired at Glaive who blocked with his glaive, before shattering the table in a spin motion.
Shuri avoided in a spin motion as Ayo tried to attack Glaive again but both were thrown down.
He then noticed the table was empty. Then Vision leapt at him and threw them both out the window as it shattered.
"Guys, we got a Vision situation here." Sam said as he flew and noticed but an Outrider knocked him down.
Clint pointed his bow up and aimed but then an Outrider rushed too close so he fired at that instead, having to get back into the fight. "Damn it!"
"Somebody get to Vision!" Steve ordered as he took another Outrider down.
"Quickly!" Willow added as she telekinetically stopped another while Tara hurled a bolt of magic at a third, taking it down.
"I got it!" Bruce said as he flew off.
"I'm coming!" Peter added as he swung in the direction too.
"On my way." Wanda said too when Midnight punched her down and stood over her, "He'll die alone. As will you."
"She's not alone."
Midnight turned around to see Buffy, Natasha and Okoye, ready to fight.
Midnight leapt at Natasha with a roar, trying to strike her down as Okoye ran next to Natasha but her spear was deflected away as Buffy blocked a strike meant for Natasha with the Troll Hammer.
Glaive kicked Vision away and then Cull sent him flying back with his hammer. Then Bruce flew in the way and pointing the suit at them said, "Oh, no, you don't. This isn't gonna be like New York, pal. This suit's already kicked the crap outta the Hulk."
Then Cull grabbed his arms with his claw hammer as Bruce was shocked, "What? No! No!"
The suit flew them both away and threw them down as Bruce told the others, "Guys! Vision needs backup, now!"
He then got up and begged Hulk, "Hulk? Hulk, I know you like making your entrance at the last second. Well, this is it, man. This is the last, last second."
He fought Cull who chopped off one arm of the suit with his hammer.
"Hulk! Hulk! Hulk!" Bruce begged when his face transformed and roared, "NOOOOOOOO!"
Bruce returned to normal and roared, "Screw you, you big green asshole! I'll do it myself!"
Bruce punched Cull several times before being thrown down. As Cull was about to land the finishing blow, Bruce attached the severed gauntlet to him and said.
"See ya!" He activated it and Cull was sent into the air, with the barrier destroying him.
"Hulk, we got a lot to figure out, pal." Bruce said to his other personality.
Buffy, Natasha and Okoye continued fighting Midnight. Midnight then punched Natasha down and grabbing Okoye threw her off before kicking Buffy away.
Natasha split her baton into two and disarmed Midnight before being punched down. Midnight tried to stab her with her blade as Natasha tried to push back.
Then Buffy recovered and hit Midnight hard on the face with the hammer, sending her rolling away, and not giving her time to recover, brought it down upon her multiple times, making her grunt in pain as she gritted her teeth, and Buffy raised her hammer again.
"Do it", Midnight sneered, looking at Buffy. "Kill me."
"I'm not a murderer like you are, besides, living with this failure is worse than death if Thanos is half as bad as I've been told", Buffy said as she turned around and walked to Natasha to help her up, Okoye staggering up too.
Midnight staggered up, enraged, and lunged for Buffy but Wanda lifted Midnight with her powers and a thresher ran into her, killing her, the blood raining down on Natasha.
"Gross", she muttered.
"I can see that", Buffy cringed as they went back to the big fight.
Glaive stabbed Vision and taunted, "I thought you were formidable, machine. But you're dying, like any man."
He retracted his glaive when a swinging Peter kicked him away before swinging up onto a tree.
"Come down here and fight like a man!" Glaive roared at him.
"I don't suppose I can convince you to come up here and fight like a spider", Peter quipped as he leapt down, ready to fight.
Glaive was about to hit him when Parker flipped behind him. Glaive pushed his foot back to kick Parker but he blocked as Glaive turned around and struck.
Parker dodged two attacks and flipped behind him again, trying to kick, but Glaive leaned sideways to avoid as Parker fired webbing but he flipped to avoid it.
Peter was much more skilled now than before due to his training with Buffy, and his strength matched Glaive too, if not exceed it.
Glaive tossed his glaive at Parker who swung to avoid as Glaive caught his weapon again.
Parker landed in front of him and Glaive tried to slice, only for Parker to flip behind him and this time, Parker elbowed him hard, sending him flying off and crashing onto the ground.
"What? Can't fight someone who has the power to fight back?" Parker quipped.
Glaive charged at Parker again but he flipped and kicked Glaive on the chin, sending him flying up into the air and grabbing him by a web, smashed him to the ground again.
As Glaive staggered up, Parker elbowed his abdomen in a spin motion and kicked him on the chin, sending him flying off again.
He staggered up again, only for Parker to swing and kick him in the abdomen, before punching him on the face, and then swinging away, hit him with a web line, and used it to lift him up and slam him to the ground, forming a small crater.
Parker swung at him at full speed again, and kicked him on the face as he got up, sending him to the ground as he was disarmed of his glaive.
"Alien warrior with years of experience beaten by a boy who climbs like a spider", Peter quipped, taunting Glaive who roared when a recovered Vision picked up his glaive and stabbed him in the chest, finally killing him.
He looked at Peter and nodded in appreciation. "Thank you for saving me."
"It's what I do, help people", Peter shrugged as he helped Vision away.
Same time, Titan
On the dead world of Titan, another battle for another Infinity Stone was taking place at the same time.
Doctor Strange flew down to battle Thanos.
Strange summoned Tao Mandalas and fired bolts of Eldritch energy at Thanos which he leapt to avoid and fired a blast with the Power Stone. Strange countered by opening the Mirror Dimension in the middle to absorb the beam and pushed it back at him.
Thanos destroyed it with the Power Stone's punch and transforming the remnants into a Black Hole, threw it back at Strange. Strange cast a spell and the Black Hole was transmuted into mystical butterflies.
Suddenly, more hands popped from behind Strange and thousands of Stranges appeared. All of them restrained Thanos with Eldritch whips.
Then Thanos activated the Soul and Power Stones, destroying the clones as the real Strange was sent back and his astral form was seen for a second.
Thanos activated the Space and Reality Stones, pulling Strange to him by changing the landscape and held him by the neck.
"You're full of tricks, Wizard. Yet you never once used your greatest weapon." He ripped out the Eye of Agamotto and crushed it as nothing was inside, "A fake."
He tossed Strange away, knocking him out, when a nanotech clamp stopped him from closing his fist and Tony flew down. "You throw another moon at me, and I'm gonna lose it!"
"Stark." Thanos said.
"You know me?" A shocked Tony asked.
"I do." Thanos said, "You're not the only one cursed with knowledge."
"My only curse is you." Tony sneered and fired missiles which Thanos blocked with his Infinity Gauntlet. He flew at Thanos, transforming his feet into the huge jet as he kicked Thanos down before punching him back with conjured battering rams. Thanos ripped off his helmet but another appeared as Thanos punched him back and ripping off the clamp, fired from the Power Stone, with Tony using a shield to block.
Thanos stopped and Tony kicked him and pinned the Gauntlet with a foot clamp before hitting him with battering rams, sending him down. The force was enough to make him bleed a little as he touched his cheek and said, "All that for a drop of blood."
Thanos threw him of and started pummeling him before blasting him away with the Power Stone. Tony fired with his reforming suit but Thanos used the Power Stone to block as they fought and Thanos blocked an attack of Tony. Tony formed a dagger and tried to stab but Thanos grabbed his hand and broke it off before stabbing him. Thanos pushed a gasping Tony back before holding his head.
"You have my respect Stark." Thanos said, "When I'm done half of humanity will still be alive."
As Tony gasped in pain, he said sincerely, "I hope they remember you."
He pointed the Infinity Gauntlet at Tony.
"STOP!" Strange said as they turned to him. He was awake now.
"Spare his life...and I will give you the Stone." He promised.
"No tricks." Thanos warned.
"Don't!" Tony begged but Strange summoned the Time Stone from where he had hidden it disguised as a star.
Thanos held out his hand as Strange sent it flying at him. Tony shook his head sadly as Thanos took it and inserted it within the Infinity Gauntlet.
Power surged through him as he said, "One to go."
Then shots hit the Infinity Gauntlet. Peter Quill aka Star Lord was firing at him from above. Thanos simply opened a portal via Space Stone and escaped into it.
"Where is he?" Quill asked angrily as he pointed his blaster around. He then noticed Tony using his remaining nanoparticles to seal his wound.
"Did we just lose?" Quill asked, horror and guilt filling him.
"Why would you do that?" Tony asked Strange incredulously.
Strange looked at him and said ominously, "We're in the endgame now."
Same time, Wakanda
M'Baku and the Jabari killed several Outriders and chanted while Thor casually slaughtered Outriders with his lightning before flying into a dropship, destroying it as he emerged from its top and then flew into another one.
Peter was helping Vision away when Wanda flew next to him. "Are you okay?"
Suddenly, he grunted in pain as the Mind Stone flared.
"What? What is it?" She asked.
"He's here." Vision gasped.
Peter's hair stood up as his spider sense tingled, and Buffy turned around, her Slayer sense sensing it too as her eyes widened.
Both felt chills run up their spines.
"Everyone, on my position. We have incoming." Steve ordered as he looked around.
Natasha looked around and muttered. "What the hell?"
Everyone's eyes darted back and forth when Bruce turned around and a portal opened as out marched Thanos.
"Cap, that's him", Buffy confirmed, remembering him from her dream.
"Yeah", Bruce said with a nod.
Steve brought his shield up. "Eyes up. Stay sharp."
"Gotcha on both", Clint said as he held up his bow.
Thanos stalked forwards menacingly.
Bruce leapt at Thanos but he used the Space Stone to make him intangible and Bruce passed through him and went into solid stone where Thanos turned him tangible again and he was lodged inside it.
Steve charged at Thanos but was flung away by energy from the Power Stone. T'Challa leapt at him but Thanos grabbed him by the throat and punched him hard. As he fell down, his suit discharged all the kinetic energy inside in a powerful but useless burst.
Sam flew at Thanos and fired but was knocked down by the Space Stone.
Peter then swung at him as Buffy yelled. "NO!"
Thanos grabbed Peter by the throat as Buffy gulped, remembering the scene from her dream, and Peter was then slammed down as Thanos growled. "Insect!"
Buffy charged Thanos with a roar, bringing her hammer down on the Gauntlet but the only thing that happened was a metallic clang as Thanos punched her away, sending her down too while Peter groaned, knocked down.
"Wanda."
Wanda turned to face Vision who urged, "It's time."
"No." She shook her head in despair.
"They can't stop him, Wanda, but we can." Vision urged.
As her lips quivered, he said, "Look at me. You have the power to destroy the Stone."
"Don't." She begged.
"You must do it. Wanda, please." He urged, "We are out of time."
"I can't." She croaked.
"Yes, you can." He encouraged, "You can. If he gets the Stone, half the Universe dies. It's not fair. It shouldn't be you, but it is."
"It's all right." He then said, "You could never hurt me. I just feel you."
With quivering lips, Wanda finally fired a powerful beam at the Mind Stone as Vision gasped in pain but allowed her to proceed.
Rhodes fired at Thanos but he crushed his suit with the Space Stone and Rhodes fell down.
Bucky, Spike, Natasha and Okoye charged at Thanos as Bucky fired bullets with a roar but was knocked down by the Power Stone's burst alongside Spike.
Okoye threw her spear but it was sent back by a wave of energy from the Power Stone as well while Okoye was knocked out. Thanos then formed stone pillars from the Reality Stone, trapping Natasha.
Groot attacked Thanos with roots but he broke free of them. Wanda looked back with tears and turning back to Vision, fired a beam from her other hand as well, breaking down.
Clint fired an arrow at him but Thanos turned it into feathers with the Reality Stone before knocking Clint out with a punch.
Giles fired a powerful blast of magic as Thanos fired a blast of the Power Stone and Giles tried to deflect with his force field but it shattered as Giles was knocked down too.
Willow and Tara hurled fireballs together but he absorbed them into the Gauntlet and fired back from the Power Stone, knocking them both down too.
Steve slid next to Thanos and arrived in front of him. Using his shields, he hit Thanos' abdomen, his left wrist and gave him an uppercut on his chin, though the Mad Titan was barely affected. Thanos then brought his Infinity Gauntlet covered hand down on Steve which he grabbed with all his might and roared, trying to stop Thanos from closing it.
Then Thanos punched Steve hard, knocking him out.
That was when he felt something penetrate his left leg and roared in rage as Logan ripped out his claws and jumped to his front.
"Let's finish it, bub." He snarled as Thanos brought his fist down on him. Logan grabbed with all his might and roared as his claws popped out. But then Thanos closed his fist and activated the Reality Stone.
Logan gasped in pain and horror as he felt the Adamantium inside him was no more and he felt light. Thanos had transformed the Adamantium into rubber momentarily and Logan was down from that.
Then webbing hit Thanos' Gauntlet hand as an awakened Peter tried to pull him away from Wanda and Vision with a powerful grunt but Thanos pulled him with his own web and knocked him out.
Willow was suddenly next to him and touched the Infinity Gauntlet, closing her eyes while gritting her teeth. Thanos sent her back and out with a burst of the Power Stone and sneered. "You fool."
With all obstacles out of the way, Thanos then marched towards Wanda and Vision again.
Wanda used one hand to blast Thanos with magic as he used the Infinity Gauntlet to defend himself, being sent back a little but he persisted.
"It's all right. It's all right." Vision assured, "I love you."
The Mind Stone cracked and soon, exploded along with Vision as a small explosion occurred. The pieces of Vision lay in the forest.
As Wanda looked down with tears, Thanos said, "I understand, my child. Better than anyone."
Wanda looked up at him in grief and rage and said, "You could never."
Thanos reached down and patted her head, "Today, I lost more than you can know."
"But now is no time to mourn." Thanos said as he walked past her, "Now is no time at all."
And then he pressed his fist as the Time Stone activated. Thanos used the Time Stone and the pieces reassembled, with Vision being reformed and whole again along with the Mind Stone.
"NO!" Wanda yelled and lunged forward but was smacked away as Thanos lifted Vision by the throat and reaching out, ripped the Mind Stone as a hole was formed in Vision's head and he went pale, dying in Thanos' grip as the Mad Titan tossed him away.
Thanos put the Mind Stone in the Infinity Gauntlet and roared as power surged through him.
Then a huge blast of lightning hit Thanos and sent him flying back. Thor had come!
Thanos fired a powerful beam from all six Infinity Stones powerful enough to destroy a planet but Thor threw Stormbreaker, charged with all of his power and it cut through the beam and lodged itself in Thanos' chest.
Thor flew down in front of Thanos and sneered, "I told you...you'd die for that."
Grabbing Thanos' head, he drove Stormbreaker further into his chest as the Mad Titan yelled in agony.
Thor then stopped as Thanos seemed to be saying something to him.
"You should have...You should...You should have gone for the head."
And then he raised his left hand as Thor yelled in horror, "NO!"
SNAP!
There was a flash of energy and when it faded, the Gauntlet looked damaged. It was smoking badly, looking like it had gone a few rounds with a monster truck.
Thor backed off in horror.
"What did you do?!" Thor exploded, "WHAT DID YOU DO?!"
Thanos used the Space Stone to open a portal and escaped into it as Stormbreaker, now coated in the Mad Titan's blood dropped to the ground.
"Where'd he go?" Steve asked as he arrived, "Thor. Where'd he go?"
Thor looked ashamed and guilty.
"What happened?" An awakened Buffy asked, staggering around as she held her chest.
"Steve?" Steve looked over to see Bucky, whose human hand seemed to be disintegrating. Then his gun fell to the ground and he turned to dust.
Steve walked to the spot Bucky had been at and kneeling down, touched it as Thor looked around in guilt.
A strangled, pained wail pierced the air and Steve knew it was Natasha, staring at the spot Bucky had been in, horrified.
Wakandan soldiers turned to dust all around as M'Baku watched in horror. One of their ships crashed too due to losing the pilot.
"Up, General. Up!" T'Challa helped Okoye up, "This is no place to die."
Then he turned to dust as she watched in horror and screamed, "OH BAST!"
"I am Groot." Groot said sadly and turned to dust as Rocket watched in pained sadness.
"Oh... No, no, no!" He cried out as he walked towards Groot just as he fully disintegrated, "Groot! No!"
Wanda, still crouching over Vision's body, turned to dust as Clint ran up to her in horror, "NO! WANDA! NO!"
But she was gone and he collapsed to his knees on the spot where she had been as tears fell out of his eyes along with a muffled sob.
"Sam?" Rhodes called out as he searched for his friend while unseen to him, Sam turned to dust as he continued calling out, "Sam, where you at?"
Giles got up, looking around with a grunt. "It has happened."
And then he turned to dust as Buffy yelled in horror. "GILES!"
She ran to the spot where he had been, getting on her knees with wide, tearful eyes as Willow and Tara held each other, crying themselves and Spike watched emotionlessly.
Inside the palace, Anya looked at her hands which were disappearing. "Xander, what is happening to me?"
Xander tried to hug her for comfort but she was gone already as Ayo and Shuri dusted too, and Xander felt looked at the spot where Anya had been, disbelief over his face as Dawn put a hand on his shoulder before muttering. "Buffy, Peter."
She then ran out, leaving Xander staring at the spot Anya had been at while Laura and the kids nearby turned to dust too.
Titan
Everyone was getting back up slowly, still wounded.
"Something's happening." Mantis then said and disintegrated in Quill's arm. They looked at where she stood, shocked.
Quill turned to Drax who called out, "Quill?"
And then he turned to dust too.
Quill now looked like he was about to break down.
"Oh, man." Quill said in horror as he realized the consequences of his outburst. With guilt on his face, he turned to dust too.
"Tony."
Tony turned to look at Strange who returned his gaze ominously.
"There was no other way."
And then, he turned to dust as well.
Tony sighed, looking at the ground in grief as Nebula muttered grimly. "He did it."
Tahiti
Phil Coulson sat on a hammock on a beach, relaxing as Melinda May sat beside him. He was going to spend his last days in Tahiti peacefully.
Then to his shock, he turned to see May gone, only dust left after her.
The Lighthouse
"Everyone's gonna be so happy to see you again." Jemma Simmons assured Leo Fitz after she, Daisy Johnson, Piper, Davis and Enoch had retrieved him from space.
"I can't believe I have a grandson who is almost my ag-" Fitz whispered before they heard screams.
"What the hell?"! Daisy rushed into the bunker to see some agents turn to dust.
Alphonso Mackenzie, known to most as Mack, was staring in horror at the spot where the love of his life Elena 'Yo-Yo- Rodriguez had turned to dust.
"Elena…" Daisy whispered before she turned to dust too.
"What's going on?" Deke Shaw asked before he turned to dust too along with Piper and Davis as Fitz, Simmons and Mack looked around in horror.
San Francisco
Scott Lang was in the Quantum Realm, collecting Quantum Energy to save Ava Starr from a painful death. When he was done, he told Hope van Dyne, Hank Pym and Janet about it and Hope started counting down to get him out.
Suddenly, the sound from the other end was cut, startling Scott as he said. "Hank, quit screwing around!"
Little did he know that outside in the places of Hope, Hank and Janet were 3 specks of dust.
"GUYS?!" Scott called out, "GUYS?!"
New York
Jessica Jones was sitting in a bar with Luke Cage. The two had decided at last to move on from their complicated past and restart their relationship when suddenly Luke muttered. "Sweet Christmas!"
She turned around and both looked at people in the bar turning to dust.
"What the fuck?!" Jessica muttered.
In another bar, Frank Castle sat as he saw people turning to dust too. "What shit is this?"
Colleen Wing had just taken down a crime lord and muttered to himself. "Matt better get his ass back right now."
Then she turned to dust herself.
Tyrone Johnson, known as Cloak, watched in horror as his best friend Tandy Bowen, known as Dagger, turned to dust.
Blade returned to his base.
"Fucked up some more nightclubs, huh, Blade?" His mentor Whistler asked as he arrived and Erik Brooks aka Blade nodded when Whistler turned to dust in front of his eyes.
"Whistler?" He said in shock when his vampire senses sensed people screaming in the nearby streets as he realized this hadn't just happened to him, "Motherfucker, what is this shit?!"
Danny Rand and Ward Meachum were on a private plane as Danny muttered. "Guess this is what-"
He turned to dust then to Ward's horror, and then he turned to dust as well, leaving their pilot oblivious to their fate.
England
Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter were doing what they did best, arguing. Then Hunter suddenly stopped, grabbing his hand as if in pain.
"Hunter?" Bobbi asked in concern as he looked up at her.
"Bob!" Hunter gasped before turning to dust in front of her horrified eyes.
"Hunter?!" Bobbi asked frantically as she dropped to her knees and looked at the dust, "Hunter!"
Unknown location
Maria Hill turned to dust as Nick Fury entered his car and pulled out an old pager. He pressed the button before, to his surprise, he started turning to dust too.
"Motherfu-" He was cut off as he finished turning into dust.
The pager fell down as it started to bleep and showed a symbol of a star and behind it two stripes, red and blue.
Westchester, Xavier's School For Gifted Students
Ororo Munroe was walking around, looking at the disintegrating students as she saw Bobby Drake, Kitty Pryde, Hank McCoy and Rogue turn to dust, along with Kurt Wagner. "NO!"
"Oh my God!" Bethany Chaulk said, putting a hand to her mouth.
"What's going on?" Piotr Rasputin aka Colossus wondered as he looked around at more students dusting.
Same time, Wakanda
Dawn ran out to see what was going on.
"Dawn!"
She turned to see Peter staggering to her. "I don't feel so good."
"You're all right." Dawn said with a quivering voice, trying to assure herself more than her boyfriend.
"I don't... I don't know what's happening. I don't know..." Peter tumbled into Dawn's arms, hugging her desperately as she had tears now too.
"I don't want to go." The frightened teenager sobbed, and Dawn did too as dust formed around him, "I don't want to go, Dawn. Please. Please, I don't want to go. I don't want to go."
They collapsed as Peter lay on the ground and Dawn looked over at him, both almost crying. Peter looked Dawn in the eye.
"I wanna stay."
And then he looked away and turned to dust too as Dawn fell forward, clutching at the dust in horror and grief as she started sobbing.
"Willow?!"
Willow felt Tara's arms no longer on her and turned to see they were dusting as Willow gasped in horror. "Tara?!"
Tara was turning to dust as Willow said desperately. "Tara?! Baby?"
Willow cried harder as Tara was dusted completely. "No... no..." she cried.
Dawn now curled into a ball, having lost both Peter and Tara in front of her, sobbing as she held her knees to her face.
Steve turned over Vision's body as Natasha looked over, her hand on her stomach. Spike had his head down as Clint was numb on the ground with eyes widened in disbelief and grief, Buffy just sitting on her knees, looking horrified, as Logan, whose skeleton was back to normal, just sighed heavily while looking around.
Thor stood there in guilt as Rocket sat on a log and looked down sadly and Bruce stood there too, numb while Rhodes walked over.
"What is this? What the hell is happening?" He asked as Steve collapsed, feeling hollow and defeated.
After several moments of silence, Steve spoke two words.
"Oh, God."
Unseen to any of them, Willow's eyes turned red as she shook in rage.
On another green and beautiful planet, Thanos sat down with a sigh and watched the sunset as he had said he would, the beginning of a smile on his face.
And that's done. Tara's and Peter's deaths were the worst and saddest ones to write *groans in physical pain* Sorry about that. I hate myself for doing that to Tara.
Now some interlude stuff after this.
Team Angel and Matt weren't affected because they are in Pylea right now, and there's one more reason you'll know later.
On the brighter side, hope all enjoyed Peter beating Glaive's ass, and Thor's entrance is always epic.
