Ozpins Office,Beacon,Remnant 17:00
Zîv Jaf was bored.
She'd been waiting on the white haired man, whose name was Ozpin, for about 4 hours. He'd brought her here and went off to finish the stuff he had been doing with the students. What stuff could take 4 hours, Zîv didn't know. What she did know, however, is that he had left her sitting in his office, alone, for about a twelfth of a day. She would guess it as a gesture of goodwill or a test to leave her unsupervised. For all she knew, he had hidden cameras around, and was waiting for her to steal something. So she waited. She'd taken the time to check her duffle,to make sure nothing was missing. She had counted how much ammo she had. She had approximately 10 mags left, totaling to 300 rounds. It was a lot,but she wasn't sure how'd she get more, as it doesn't seem like the people here use gunpowder in their weapons, judging by the tacers all of the weapons she'd seen fired. Maybe the man would give her an answer on that. At the moment, she was configuring her rifle back to its standard barrel and sight, the barrel being 16' inch carbine and the sight being your run-of-the-mill red dot. What she had used on the giant bird, a 24-inch LMG barrel and 3x scope were going back into her duffel, the barrel running through the entire thing.
Ozpin had walked in while she was getting the red dot on her rifle. She hadn't even noticed him walking in until he was there and was asking for her. "Miss, I'm sorry I took so long, but I have to ask you some questions." He asked in that same monotone voice. Zîv looked at him intently and responded "Fire away."
"How did you get into Emerald Forest? We saw you in there but not entering." Ozpin asked. Zîv winced,as she was hoping this wasn't gonna be the first question he asked. "I… uh, don't know? I can tell you where I'm from, but from what I'm guessing you won't believe me." The headmaster looked curious before answering "Well fire away, I've heard crazy excuses that have turned out to be true before." Well… shit. That wasn't the answer Zîv was looking for. "Well then. I'm, not from here."
"Not from Beacon? From Vale? You have to be more specific."
"Not from Remnant."
Ozpin actually looked confused for a second, which surprised Zîv, as he very much gave off a 'guy that knows everything' kinda feel. He then seemed to think and answer "Are you from a place called Tera?"
Okay, that caught Zîv off guard. She didn't expect a man from another world to know about earth, much less call it by the old Roman name. Zîv answered carefully "Yes, although it has changed very much from when it was called that. It's now mainly called Earth. How the hell did you know that name?" Ozpin's response seemed lackluster, like he was hiding all the details, but he gave off enough that it made sense.
"There was a legend, one not as remembered as the others, but still very much there. A legend about people coming from another world without Grimm. These people would always lack Aura when they came here, and would fight like Grimm, being efficient in killing other human beings as we are to Grimm. The term Tera comes from Mistral, which in legend was founded by Terrans. It is also thought that missing people and tribes might end up in Tera, although the stories have never been confirmed, and for the most part, are legends."
"Wow." Zîv responded, "That's… sort of a lot." Zîv thought for a moment about things, mainly curious as to who could've founded Mistral, although if the Redhead from earlier was from Mistral, she could probably guess.
"Did Mistral call itself anything from before?" She asked, hoping to confirm her theory. "They called themselves the Graeci." Ozpin responded, confirming her theory. "I think I can move those legends about Mistral up to confirmed." Zîv answered. "If I had to guess, Mistral was founded by some part of the Roman Empire, an ancient empire that was around on Earth about 2000 years ago. If I had to guess what part of it, it would most likely be greece, given the names you just told me." Ozpin looked surprisingly dumbfounded, obviously wanting more answers. "So you are from another world without Grimm. Explains a lot about how you acted in Emerald forest. Would you mind giving me some more details about your world?" "Sure thing." Zîv answered consciously, not wanting to give away every detail.
4 Hours later….
Zîv and Ozpin had talked for about 4 hours, with Ozpin asking Zîv questions about history, which Zîv cautiously obliged. Zîv had lived in Syria, but she had found a world history book she kept in her duffle about a year ago. The world history session at this point had wrapped up, ending about to when the war with Turkey started, in 21'. It wasn't exactly one sided however, as Zîv also asked questions about Remnant, aura, and the Grimm, and Ozpin obliged. He, however, noticed something about where Zîv said she was from as the conversation went onward. "I've noticed you dodged a question earlier. Where exactly on 'earth' are you from?" Ozpin asked. Innocent enough, but Zîv's answer wasn't going to be nice. "Syria." Zîv answers coldly, Ozpin realizing that was probably something he shouldn't get into, lest he have to reincarnate again. So he asked a different question. "How old are you?" "Sixteen, birthdays in octob- wait, do you guys use the Julian calendar here?" Zîv answered and subsequently asked. "Yes we do. I'm presuming it's also May on Earth?" Ozpin answered. "Good, thank the Romans for that at least." Zîv replied, glad to have to not memorize another calendar. Ozpin fired with another question however. " How did you think of the performance of Team RWBY during initiation?" Zîv had to think about this one. "Is that Ruby's group? If it is then they did amazing. I know coordinated squads, and they pale in comparison to what four girls I only presume just met did. If they learn to work together, they could outright destroy militaries from where I'm from." Zîv responded, still remember vividly what the four girl team had done to that giant bird. Ozpin was in thought, seemingly coming to an idea when he asked Zîv a question. "I believe I could make an offer to you, Miss Jaf."
"And that is?"
"Study here at Beacon, and become a Huntress."
That certainly surprised the militiawoman. "Why would you offer me that?" Ozpin only shrugged. "Miss Jaf, it is very obvious you are a soldier. From your clothes to your weapon to even the way you hold yourself and talk, you look and act like someone who has seen death. The Grimm are our own greatest enemy, one that threatens to wipe us out. I see before me a soldier who was forced to walk that path, one that has wished to be something more. This is likely the best path for you. So, what do you say?" Zîv pondered on his offer. She would most likely never see the sands of Arabia again, so what could she do here? Being a soldier was out of the question, it seemed like Remnant barely had those. If she tried to do anything with being police, someone would most likely end up shot. Being what would amount to a hunter would be her best bet. But she had some loose ends to tie up in Ozpin's deal. " I have one condition: nothing said in this room leaves it. This means no talking to anyone else about it, deal?" She reached out to Ozpin's hand. He grabbed hers and shook. "Deal. First order of business is getting your aura unlocked. But there is something we must deal with first." Ozpin lets go of her hand and pulls out paper with colored pens. "In all official documentation, Hunters have a one color emblem. If you are to be allowed into Beacon, you must have one as well." Zîv thought for a second. What could be used that no one would be able to recognize? She couldn't just use a Kurdish national symbol, but she didn't really have any personal symbols. Practically the only thing she owned was the clothes on her back and her… rifle. At that thought, she came to a decision. She grabbed the pen labeled grey, and drew three thick circles. Two were large, on the edges of the paper, and very close together. The third was small, and close to the center of the paper. "This is it." She responded, handing the paper to Ozpin. "Good, now just let me see if I can unlock your aura, and then I will bring you to your team. I hope you like Miss Rose…"
30 minutes later.
Ruby Rose was asleep.
At least until she heard knocking at the door.
"Miss Rose, I have something to discuss involving your team." She heard Ozpin say. She got up and let her headmaster in, although she was still dressed in her pajamas. "Professor Ozpin? Why are you here this late?" Ruby asked, wondering what her team had to do with this. Was one of them leaving? As if to answer, professor Ozpin responded "Nobody on your team is in trouble. We've had to change your team arrangements due to an unexpected development." Ruby looked confused, not knowing what he exactly meant. "Someone else will be Joining Team RWBY, I believe you have met her. Miss Jaf?" Ozpin said as a familiar girl walked into the room, exciting Ruby. A five man team? At Beacon? With her friend she met in Emerald Forest? "Zîv, I thought you weren't going to Beacon?" Ruby asked, confused on why her friend had lied to her about that when she met. "Yeah, I wasn't, but Ozzy over there made a pretty convincing offer." Zîv responded, satisfying Ruby for the time being. "Don't call me that again." Ozpin responded blankly. " From now on, Team RWBY will be Team RWBYZ (Rubies)." Ozpin finished ,leaving soon after. "Soo… where are you gonna sleep?" Ruby asked. "I'll just sleep on the floor, I've slept in worse places. Ozpin said he'll get me a bed moved in in a day or two." Zîv responded, not expecting the offer Ruby gave her.
'"Why don't you sleep in my bed? There's enough space for the both of us!"
Zîv would've argued under any other circumstances, but was too tired to. She put her bag by the door, and laid near the edge of the bed. She drifted to sleep wondering what would happen in this new world. At least she doesn't have to face it alone now.
Chapter five done! This was a beast to get through, and I'm pretty sure its longer than outclassed part 2, Which means I'm getting somewhere. Zîv's emblem has a double meaning. It first references her silver eyes. The other meaning, and the more obvious one is its the regular sight of a Steyer AUG, a weapon that has served her for two years. Zîv will be getting a new design after badge and the burden, and will have modifications done to her weapon by Ruby. These should both be in one or two chapters.
Now on to the one review!
Weirdman- yes, I know my chapters are a bit bulky, I'm working on that.
Please R&R! It helps me know what I am doing wrong!
