Author's Note : All my readers giving support and love to this story. I'm never not humbled. Thank you. Review!
You were my town
Now i'm in exile seeing you out.
I think i've seen this film before.
So i'm leaving out the side door.
"From being in constant contact to you barely carving out time to call or text me! What the hell is that about!" Brooke yelled.
"I didn't realize i had to check in with you at every turn. I thought you needing space was a serious request. But of course not. It's just a never ending side effect of you're insecurity! Either i'm doing too much or not enough. There is no common ground here. Why would i want to come home to someone i can barely recognize!" Lucas yelled.
"Leave! The door is right there! I'm stopping you!" Brooke yelled back.
When he walked passed her and slammed the door behind himself.
When she heard rapid footsteps rushing down the stairs and out of the front door.
Brooke only then remembered Penelope was home. And had probably heard the entire arguement. These days all her and Lucas did was fight.
Lucas locked the doors to his car and blasted the radio.
Hearing hard knocks on the driver side window. Caused him to turn around and look up.
His heart sinking at the sight of his daughter in tears.
He sighed deeply opening the driver side door.
Engulfing her in a tight hug.
Penelope clung to her father.
The then 13 year old wiped her eyes and composed herself as she looked to her father.
"Don't go." Penelope pleaded.
Lucas leaned over kissing her forehead.
"I need to clear my head. Cool off. I'll be back." He reassured her.
Penelope nodded her head in agreement. And re entered the home. Going straight to her bedroom. Watching as he drove out the driveway.
The next time she watched from the window as her dad left their family home. Her heart did break because he had his bags packed and didn't reach out until he was settled in his own place.
...
Days Later
Nathan/Haley' Home
The theme of the evening was a night to Never Forget.
The home was lit up with dim lights and music played softly in the background.
There was alcohol and appetizers spread throughout the downstairs and pool area.
Besides you're name tag was a mask. Once you put that on. You left old self at the door. And had a blank slate. You could be anyone new and do whatever you wanted.
Brooke didn't hesitate to put on the mask.
Excited and hopeful with how the night would unfold.
When she felt a hand go on the small of her back.
She knew exactly who was beside her.
Brooke looked up. Her hazel eyes locking with his blue ones.
He handed her a glass of alcohol.
She smiled shyly as they clinked their glasses and drank all the contents in the glass.
He turned her away from her. While she kept her gaze locked on him.
When the lights shut off completely .
She gripped his hand hard.
He looked to her. And lead the way outdoors. So it was just the two of them near the pool.
They took seats beside each other. Both taking off their mask.
Lucas ran his hands through her hair. Caressing her face with his hands.
When she kissed him. She felt herself set free. She knew shouldn't of done it. Things between them were. In a weird place.
Brooke was flooding with feelings. While Lucas couldn't be more reserved. She couldn't even read the expression on his face.
"That was a mistake. An impulse. Forget it." Brooke proclaimed.
She was stunned when he kissed her back.
When he looked back at her. His eeyes were blazing.
"The last thing i want is to forget it." Lucas replied.
