Authors Note:

This is the, all be it fluffy with a pinch of salt, finale of the main story, but don't despair, if the muse hits me to write some little side stories or one-shots associated with this, I'll add them to this story as bonus chapters.

So please...enjoy, and thanks to everyone for reading this tale. I'm glad so many people liked it. :)

A red-covered hand gently rested on a black-clad shoulder. "You okay there, Chaton?"

"Hm? Yeah. I'm good." Chat Noir said with a lazy half smile as he righted himself from his typical recline. "Just...Master Fu told me that my mom may wake up soon. He mostly had to break the link between her and Duusu, then repair Duusu's miraculous so that it wasn't leeching off of her anymore."

"That's what happened?" Ladybug asked as she sat down next to her partner at a lower-than-normally-preferred spot on the Eiffel Tower. Chat Noir shrugged. "It's how he explained it to me. Plagg said that it was a lot more complicated, but that kind of stuff is strictly Guardian knowledge so..."

"I'll probably end up needing to learn it at some point." Ladybug said with a small nod as she leaned over to rest her head on the blond's shoulder. A small, concerned frown formed on her lips as she glanced up at her boyfriend from her position. "Have you spoken to your father?"

"He hates prison, he hates prison food, he hates prison clothing, and I think that he would disown me if I didn't already own everything..." Chat Noir said with the soft sigh of the 'used to the situation by now' variety...though a small smile formed at his next words. "...but he was relieved when I told him that mom might wake up soon."

The heroine nodded once more at that; there was no denying that the relationship between father and son would always be strained, and how everything that had happened hadn't broken it when it had already been so weak to begin with did surprise her...but she wasn't going to fault her beloved for trying to at least keep that tether open in a small degree. She had to hope that, one day, Gabriel Agreste would realize the full error of his ways and be willing to take the steps to attempt to fix all that he had broken. "And Nathalie?"

"Master Fu was able to break her link as well. She's starting to get better...but she...she said she understands why I had to turn her in and asked me to keep in contact because she worries about me." The hero muttered in thought; he suspected there was something else there...but even Plagg told him to not ask questions about it...at least not for right now when he had other things to focus on.

Though he had to wonder: had she really said for him to choke her once? Or had he been hearing things?

"I don't know how you managed to swing that we had Hawk Moth and Mayura arrested...but that their identities weren't to be revealed." That had surprised her, and yet...it hadn't. Adrien may be furious with his father, and the man had wounded him deeply...but the blond had still cared enough to make certain that no one would ever know Hawk Moth and Mayura's real identities. As far as Paris was concerned: Hawk Moth and Mayura had been apprehended and put in prison by Chat Noir and Ladybug. Gabriel Agreste and his assistant, Nathalie Sancoeur, however, were on a world-tour-type sabbatical so that the fashion mogul could rest and recharge now that Gabriel was in the more-than-capable hands of his son, Adrien Agreste.

In a sense, it reminded her of the legend of the Man in the Iron Mask...just without the two imprisoned wearing iron masks.

Chat Noir just tilted his head to press a soft kiss to the top of his lady's head before settling his arm around her waist. "I...really am not proud of that, but...I...I just couldn't bring myself to, even despite everything, I...there's just some things that even I can't destroy, I guess."

"You don't destroy everything, silly kitty and...hm?" Ladybug blinked and looked down. She frowned in thought. "Chat...is it my imagination or is that...?"

Chat Noir glanced down curiously, trying to not jostle his lady too much with his movement. "Alya and Nino...again. Are they stalking us?"

"Ladyblog. I just don't do interviews of any kind with her anymore...but the blog is still very helpful to us." Ladybug said with a small shrug. In truth? She didn't want to move from her comfy spot, leaning against her boyfriend in the City of Lights at night, but...as far as Paris was concerned, Chat Noir and Ladybug were just partners who flirted with one another like it was a language all it's own. Despite the people's shipping of it, Chat Noir and Ladybug just could not be seen being genuinely romantic towards one another or it could give everything away.

Now, Adrien Agreste and Marinette Dupain-Cheng, however? They could be as romantic as they wanted with one another when the masks were off. They were the proclaimed power couple in their school and in the fashion world, with many claiming that the wedding after they graduated-and Marinette and Adrien were both curious on who had started that rumor, not that it wouldn't happen, but still-would be the event of its decade. According to one magazine, they were the 'King and Queen of the Industry'...and boy had her Chaton playfully gone over the top with his sometimes habit of calling her 'his queen'.

Not that she hadn't given back as good as she got with calling him 'her king' just to see him grin. "Think they can hear us?"

"Nah...Nino just tripped and broke that listener device thing that he was carrying. Alya looks mad."

Ladybug giggled at that. In day-to-day, she was civil with the pair...but, she still didn't feel comfortable letting them into her life again. Chat Noir snorted. "And now they're trying to hide behind a trashcan but doing a beyond terrible job of it."

"Do you think we should find someone else use the Fox and Turtle miraculous?" Ladybug asked-she did miss having Rena Rogue and Carapace around, but...she just couldn't run the risk of letting Alya and Nino get too close again. Not until she could trust them...not until both she and her beloved could trust them. Chat Noir however seemed to be considering his lady's words before... "Not sure, to be honest. We'd have to be pretty careful with who we choose."

"True." Ladybug said as she sat up straight. "We should go check in with Queen Bee, Ryuko, and Viperion to see how their patrols have gone...then, since it's such a quiet night, head to my parents' for dinner?"

"That sounds perfect to me, my lady. I'll call our ride to pick us up."

'Our ride', of course, being Gorilla who was certainly taking to his new role as the couple's Alfred, doing everything from covering up any of their 'disappearances' to being on call to pick them up after patrols, to making certain that Tikki and Plagg had more than enough of their respective favorites to help them keep their energy up...and had even gone the extra route of redoing the gymnasium at the mansion so that the teens had a safe place to train their bodies and minds as well as sharpen their existing skills with self-defense lessons from the bodyguard.

He's even started taking the time to teach them some of the things that he had learned over his years so that the pair could better handle situations that they might encounter.

After a second, Chat Noir grinned. "You know...everyone on my staff have a betting pool on when I'm going to propose to you."

"They do remember how old we are, right?"

"They do...but apparently we're a match made in heaven." Chat Noir said as he leaned back to rest most of his weight on one palm. Ladybug just shook her head in fond amusement, giving a small flip-like gesture with one hand. "More like forged in the fires of many battles against the forces of evil."

"Tale as old as time, purr-incess."

"You and your cat puns." The bluenette said with a fond shake of her head and exaggerated roll of her eyes. The blond, however merely grinned widely at her response. "You love my cat puns."

Ladybug couldn't help the smile that formed as she poked her partner in the center of his chest and said, as seriously as possible: "I love you despite your cat puns."

"Me-owtch." Chat Noir said, unable to hold back his laughter, and, soon enough, Ladybug couldn't hold back her own.

After calming from their giggle fit, the heroic duo rose to leap away...only for Ladybug to lightly push Chat Noir into the shadow of a beam where the duo on the ground couldn't possibly see the pair. The blond blinked in confusion only for the bluenette to press a soft kiss to her love's lips. "Race you."

And she was off...with her spluttering kitty right on her heels.
