Day 2 Part 1
Sakuya found herself in a small clearing in the woods near the mansion. she was so worried that she would have dashed all the way here if not for the fact that she was holding Shiho, though it seems like her fears were misplaced, as her husband was several steps ahead of her and placed a tarp over it in preperation of the storm, Sakuya was glad, this was their "special place". After removing the tarp, she faced Shiho towards the object.
"Look Shiho, this is where mama met papa." she said while pointing towards it, the object was an old outside world plane, despite the damage from the initial crash, it remained relatively intact over the years, the Kappa would be all over a piece of tech like this, but due to it's proximity near the the Scarlet Devil Mansion, most wouldn't go anywhere near it, that didn't means their weren't any that tried, it was missing it's weapons systems and one of it's engines, making it inoperable, but whether it worked or not didn't matter to her, it was the precious memories she made here that was important to her. Sakuya closed her eyes and thought of a memory that was especially precious...
Sakuya was worried. Her relationship with the servant had been going really well, she'd go as far as to say that she really liked him, but lately he had been really distant, he'd leave to who know's where as soon as work was over and wouldn't come back for a few hours. At first she didn't really think anything of it, but one day, she decided to secretly follow him, and where else did he go but that puppeteers house! Sakuya knew he and Alice were good friends, but to spend hours at her house every day? For the past few days she kept telling herself that everything was fine, that he wasn't cheating on her, that the past year meant something to him. Eventually she built up the resolve to finally confront them about it.
As usual, he left work as soon as he could with Sakuya in close pursuit, but something was different this time, instead of heading towards Alice's house like she usually did, he was heading towards to the clearing where his old plane was and he was carrying a large bag with him, Sakuya thought about just confronting him then and there but decided to continue observing from a distance. He opened up the bag and pulled out what appeared to be painting supplies and that's when he began to work on the plane.
"What could he possibly be painting?" she said to her self, quiet enough for him not to hear. she continued to observe him for about another hour, when he finally put his cleaning supplies away and began to walk away from the plane, that's when she decided to strike.
"What do you think you're doing?" she said, using time stop to suddenly appear in front of him
"S-Sakuya? What are you doing here?!" He exclaimed
"I could ask the same of you!" she yelled back, "I've been watching you walk to Alice's and staying there for hours, and now I see you playing artist with you old piece of junk!"
"It's not what you think Sakuya! It really isn't!"
"Is it not? Then what have you been doing at Alice's?"
"I guess I really should explain myself," he sighed, "I was hoping to save this for our anniversary but you really don't leave me any choice."
"Our... anniversary?" she replied
"You see, I was thinking about what to do about our anniversary. and that's when I remembered this history book I got from that shop, you know the one", he explained. "There was this really big war that happened a long time ago, and the pilots in that war, before going into battle, would paint their ideal girl on their planes."
"Ideal girl? You don't mean..." Sakuya could feel it, she knew what he meant, she could could already feel herself choke up.
"C'mon, let me show you!" he grabbed her hand and led Sakuya to the plane where she finally saw his work, it was a portrait of her self, it was still wet, and a little amateurish, but she could tell that a lot of love and work went into it.
"Y... you made this?" she asked quietly, trying to hold back tears.
"Yeah, I spent so much time at Alice's place because she let me keep my painting stuff there, and let me practice there, so tell me, what do you think?
"I... I..." Sakuya tried to answer, but could only let out tears.
"Sakuya? What's wrong? Why are you crying? Do you hate it?"
"N-no! I love it! It's just..." she replied, trying to compose herself, "I ruined the surprised, all because I didn't trust you..."
"Don't worry about it Sakuya, in hindsight, maybe hiding out in another girl's house wasn't very smart of me."
"You're not very smart in general... but it really is beautiful."
"Not as beautiful as the real thing..."
"..." Sakuya could only reply with silence and a blush, they looked at each other for a bit for they finally closed the distance between them, they stayed like that for a while...
Sakuya placed her hand on the portrait, he would never admit it, but Sakuya knew that he would repaint it from time to time, and it made her sad to think that one day, even if that day was very far away, he wouldn't be around to repaint it and it would be lost to the elements, she took a look at Shiho, who was happily sitting on her lap, and wondered if she was willing to take up painting lessons when she's older...
