Spoiler for V8 chapter 14

Ruby rose stared at the blonde sitting against a small multicoloured tree. She felt Yang tense at her side. Blake looked sadly at the young man, his armour strewn about half hazardly around. Weiss gently touched Crocea Mors resting on her hip. "Jaune?" Rubys tiny voice cut through the quite.

"Did Weiss tell you what I did?" He asked simply.

Tears began to pool a the bottom of Ruby's silver eyes. "Jaune we're going get Cinder back for Penny, for Pyrrha"

Jaune shook his head "It wasn't Cinder who swung the sword, who made the choice"

"She didn't leave you much choice" Yang added.

Jaune calmly motioned to a small mound of dirt. "I found her..." His voice cracked "I buried her she deserved that much" He finished.

Weiss reached for his shoulder "Jaune please..." Her pale blue eyes met the darker blue of her blonde friend. "We need you Jaune"

Ruby gently wrapped her arms around as she crouched down to his level. "Weiss is right Jaune" Ruby gaze shifted upward as she fought back tears. "Penny, she deserved better. We all should've done better. Maybe if I hadn't forgot about Neo Yang wouldn't have fallen" Ruby chewed her bottom lip.

"You know my mom always said it takes more strength to cry, then to hold back tears" Jaune stated numbly.

Ruby choked back a laugh 'My mom always said strangers are just friends you haven't met yet' it felt like a life time ago. Then she let her tears begin to fall freely, her team following soon after "Jaune we need you, your team needs you" Ruby held on tight.

"Ruby" Jaune pulled her in tight. "I'm so sorry" He whispered.

He suddenly felt a second set of smaller arms wrap tightly above Ruby's own. "Jaune we all messed up badly. I saw Yang fall, and it was like all my training left me" Weiss's strained voice came into his left ear. "I could've used my glyphs even a small summon, anything to stop her, but all I knew was my friend was dying"

The largest member of team RWBY jumped into the pile "I Saw Neo and reacted to save Ruby. I should've fought her not jumped in to block" Yang added.

Finally Blake joined the hug "I got blinded by anger. I should've went and helped Weiss faster, maybe then she would've had the aura to give you time to heal Penny"

"Uncle Qrow told me that as a huntresses I might need to make the hardest choices. That the hardest choices require the strongest wills" Ruby whispered sadly. "Penny made the hardest choice in anyone's life" She could feel his tears falling on top of her head. "But what I don't think she understood. Was what she was asking you to do would be equally hard"

"Can you ever forgive me?" He wondered aloud.

"Jaune" Team RWBY held him tighter "There's nothing to forgive"

The group sat in the group hug as the night hung high, only silence broken by insects chirping, and the sobbing.
