Toph sat at an empty table, bored as she "watched" the couples slow dancing on the dance floor. Kids in the bathroom most likely smoking weed, vaping or drinking the alcohol they snuck in.

On the other side of the room, were the school athletes. Sokka was one of them. He was on the lacrosse team. Right now he was chatting with his teammates. Occasionally glancing over at his table where Toph sat alone.

Sokka wondered how Katara got Toph to come to the dance. Dances aren't her thing. Especially dressing up in a dress and makeup. When he asked his sister, all Katara said was "Kanto" which made a knot in his stomach.

Was she trying to get him back?

Kanto is Toph's ex boyfriend. They broke up a while ago when she found out he had been cheating on her for a few months. Everyone had to hold back Sokka from beating up Kanto. They didn't succeed. Sokka ended up beating Kanto really bad and to this day Sokka says he doesn't have any regrets which made Toph laugh.

When Sokka asked Toph what Katara meant, she'd blush and smile before walking away or changing the subject. Sokka just gave up on asking and decided to figure it out himself

Sokka excused himself from the team and made his way to his table. He pulled out his seat next to Toph's and sat down. "What is a pretty girl like you doing here alone?"

Toph rolled her eyes. "Don't call me that. I was just about to leave anyway"

"How come?"

"Just like you said, i'm here alone"

"C'mon, stay a little longer" he pleaded

"Give me one reason" She challenged

"You haven't danced with me yet"

"I don't dance"

"C'mon, just one dance"

"No thanks"

"I'll drive you" Sokka offered

Toph glared at him, considering the offer. Sokka stood up, fixed his suit and reached out his hand. "C'mon, just this one dance"

Toph sighed in defeat. "Fine," She grabbed his hand. "But only this dance, that's all"

"One dance is all I need," He said, leading her to the dance floor.

"Need for what?"

"For you to fall for me" He said with a smirk

Toph scoffed, "In your dreams"

They got a spot on the dance floor and Sokka stopped and turned to Toph, twisting his hand in her's and interwinding them. Sokka put Toph's other hand on his shoulder before resting his hand on her slender waist.

"Just wait, we'll soon be dancing like this at our wedding"

Toph rolled her eyes, "Hopeless romantic"

"You're one to talk. You fell for that guy almost instantly. That's why your here, to win him back" He explained

"Is that seriously why you think I came here?"

"Well, that's the only thing that seems reasonable for you to come to the dance. You don't like dresses and makeup,"

"Your right. I don't" She said sternly

"Kanto can't stop looking at you, and I don't blame him"

"Why's that?"

"Because even though you can't see yourself, you look beautiful tonight" Sokka replied without hesitation.

Toph felt a blush creep up her face and tried her best to calm herself. "And speaking of Kanto, I can feel him coming"

"Toph, your not really gonna-"

"May I cut in?" Kanto said when he approached them. Toph could feel Sokka's grasp on her waist tighten in an effort to keep her with him.

"Uh-"

"Sure," Toph said, cutting off Sokka. Toph untangled their fingers and pushed Sokka's hand off her waist. "I'm sure your teammates are looking for you," She said to Sokka.

Sokka inhaled deeply, "My offer is still open" He said and walked away, but not before giving Kanto a 'hurt her and i'll hurt you' look.

Kanto nodded at Sokka before putting his attention on Toph. She wrapped her hands around his neck and he put his hands on her waist. "I think it's pretty clear he's jealous" He spoke.

"Just needed confirmation. After our breakup, he started going soft on me"

"Well, i've said before and i'll say it again. I'm sorry for hurting you and I hope being with him makes you happy"

"Ew, you're going soft on me too. Disgusting"

Kanto chuckled, "We should probably get off the floor. Sokka's glaring at me"

Toph scoffed a laugh and let go of Kanto. "See you around," He said before giving her a kiss on the cheek and walking away. Toph sighed and made her way through the dance floor full of couples till she reached Sokka who was leaning against a wall.

Sokka watched as she walked over to him and leaned against the wall next to him. "So?"

"So, you wanna tell me about that wedding you have planned?" She said with a genuine smile

Their love song played on the speakers of the venue. Sokka extended his hand to her and she grabbed on. The two walked onto the middle of the floor and Sokka spinned his wife before setting his hand on her waist. He pulled her close to him and wrapped his arms around her waist. Toph's arms rested around his neck and she laid her head against his chest, Sokka resting his head on top of her. The lights around them turned off but a single light, focusing on the newly weds.

"Told you we'd be dancing like this at our wedding"

A/N this story went the opposite way that it was supposed to go, but i'm not complaining. I actually like it.
