" I cannot believe you disposed of those vampires, without me you know how I love to set things on fire. You know how I love to set things on fire." Rebekah said.
" Was I supposed to leave them in the front yard to rot? Besides they were my responsibility. They attacked the helpless, pregnant girl who's carrying my children." Klaus said as he leaned against the door frame. Elena glanced up when her name was spoken but said nothing before her phone rang suddenly. All the three of them paused for a second before Elena checked the screen and groaned before canceling the call, receiving curious looks from both the originals but they both didn't say anything.
" So what is the plan?" Elena asked.
" Well, that depends what plan you mean love. My plan for global domination or Rebekah's plan to find love in a cruel, cruel world" Klaus said, smirking at Rebekah in the end who did not look pleased as she gave her brother a fake smile before throwing a wooden pencil at him which he effortlessly caught.
" The plan to rescue Elijah. You know the good brother always wear a suit that you have kindly given to your one of many enemies in a coffin. Rung any bells." Elena said her voice dripping with sarcasm, as Klaus raised an eyebrow.
" Nope doesn't ring a bell."
" You also stabbed him in the back."
" In the front, if we are being specific," Klaus replied as he moved into the office room and sat on the table.
" Well, firstly Marcel is not my enemy. He's my friend albeit one who is unaware that I am trying to sabotage his hold over the supernatural community of the french quarter, but a friend nonetheless. And secondly, I daggered Elijah in order to gain Marcel's trust. If I had known he would place my brother in the hands of a particularly nasty teenage witch, I would have certainly weighed my options a bit differently. And thirdly sister please," Klaus answered
" And thirdly we have decided for your own safety to keep you out of the loop," Rebekah said.
" Right," Elena said before she sat down on one of the chairs. " And what if I may tell you that before being kidnapped by those lunatic witches, there was a certain gentleman who took a little fancy to me and he may or may not be in Marcel's inner circle." Klaus now looked interested.
" And who that gentleman maybe?" Rebekah asked.
" I don't know I am just not recollecting the name. Maybe if I am kept in the loop I may remember something more."
" Touche," Klaus said.
" Our simple plan is to ask Marcel to give Elijah back," Rebekah said.
" And what's the complicated one?" Elena asked.
" And what's the guy's name."
" Diego, "
" Marcel's left-hand man."
" Seems so, he even asked me on a date today for a charity event ."
" Werewolves are not allowed in the quarter."
"and I am pretty sure that the original hybrid can ask the favor of a witch and get me something that hides the pregnancy and me being an untransformed werewolf from a bunch of vampires."
"Are you out of your mind?" Sophie asked looking incredulous, "No way."
"It's very simple," Rebekah explained. "We need you to perform a teeny, tiny locater spell to help us find our brother."
"Witches who practice magic in this town get caught," Sophie said. "And they get killed."
"Yes, about that," Klaus started. "It seems you left out a crucial detail when we made our deal. Marcel's secret weapon. The way he knows when a witch is using magic," Klaus continued.
"Girl about yay high," Rebekah joined in. "Cute as a button. Anger issues."
"Davina?" Sophie breathed,
"Where have you seen her?" She went on.
"I don't know," Rebekah said in an exasperated tone. "The little brat erased my memory right after she threw me out a window with her bloody mind."
"Let me cut to the chase," Klaus interrupted, obviously running low on patience. "Davina has Elijah. You witches, I assume, want to get Davina away from Marcel. We don't know where she is. Ergo, we need magic."
"Davina would sense it," Sophie argued.
"Unless, of course," Rebekah began. "Another witch-say, a traitor the cause, Katie for example-was to perform much more powerful magic at the same time. That would create a smokescreen concealing your very small spell from Davina."
"Katie doesn't deserve to die," Sophie muttered.
Klaus lost his patience and slammed his hands on the table
"Sophie Deveraux. You're in no position to be so principled," Klaus started. "You can't win a war without a few strategic losses, no matter how regrettable they may be. How many times have the vampires been one step ahead, knowing something they shouldn't? Your sister, executed in the public square for practicing magic, who knew she'd be caught? Did she even attempt to flee?"
"She was caught hiding in a cargo hold of a freighter before it set sail down the Mississippi," Sophie spat.
"And who, pray to tell, of Marcel's valued inner circle manages his business at the docks?" Klaus further asked.
There was hesitation from Sophie's side before she finally said, "Katie's boyfriend, Thierry." The two Mikaelsons smirked.
Klaus glanced down at Thierry who was playing the trumpet rather skillfully, he had to admit, it would be a pity that this might be the last time he would play again.
" You are right, he's good," Klaus said to Marcel.
" Right music man I call him, the ladies love him but he is spoken for. He knocks around with this pretty little witch" Marcel said, and Klaus looked at him in surprise, " Says he loves her, but I don't know"
" Your brightest soldiers are fraternizing with your enemy and you don't care."
" Well of course I care but Thierry is a grown man he can make his own choices and I do get some good intel. Besides he is not gonna do anything to jeopardize what we are doing here, I mean check this out, a vampire hosting a ritzy charity event. We have a community where no one's gonna mess that up." Before Marcel could continue, Diego came up and interrupted him,
" Hey Marcel, will it be alright if I bring a human date along with the charity event."
" So she finally said yes," Marcel said smirking, Klaus smirked as well although for a different reason.
" You bet she did, called and asked me to meet her at the Rousseau," Diego replied his face stretched in a grin.
" Here Diego told me a month before that he saw the most beautiful girl he had ever seen described her as perfect and flawless, She rejected him twice before finally saying yes," Marcel said to Klaus.
" Well, she must be special do introduce me to her," Klaus said,
" Me too," Marcel added.
" So back to the chat, you don't want the witches getting too bold, given that a witches tip about a werewolf in town led to the disappearance of four of your nightwalkers. I am sure you have considered the possibility that it could have been a trap."
" Maybe I will send a little message."
" It seems as if you did your work," Klaus said to Elena as she was typing furiously on her computer," Guy seems quite enamored already,"
" I did," Elena replied, she hesitated for a few seconds before continuing, " Sabine came today to check up on me, she did a little trick to find out about the gender of the babies, I guess." Klaus stopped rustling through the papers as he looked up," And" he said.
" Guess there is gonna be a mini-you and mini-me running around." There was silence between them before Klaus phone rang up,
" Yes, little sister, "
" Well, brother I believe that I have made certain that Marcel will be properly distracted tonight."
" Dare I ask?"
" Let's just say that his attention won't be on us. I did my bit. What are you doing to ensure Elijah's safe return."
" Currently I am preparing insurance against the tender-hearted."
" Meaning."
" We need proper motivation for Katie to cast a powerful spell tonight, I am creating that motivation. Marcel has ordered a rousting of witches. And I in turn have paraded things to go tragically wrong, " Klaus said. " Marcel may not be concerned with Thierry's romantic allegiance. But there are other crimes he will be less inclined to so easily forgive ."
" Killing a vampire," Elena interrupted,
" Exactly. That would be unforgivable," Klaus said, " if Katie hopes to save her one true love from Marcel's punishment well a rescue mission like that will require something positively magical, but then what's worth dying for if not love."
"Oh my God Nik, you evil bastard, I will be coming to get ready," said Rebekah as she cut the phone.
" Liked the plan love," Klaus asked,
" Perfectly tribolical," Elena replied.
" Tribolical?"
" One thing I have learned about you Klaus is that you always have three plans, one that your enemies know, two that your allies do, and the last that you do."
" Touche, and as for your date, there is a bracelet that I have kept in your room it will prevent anyone from realizing that you are a wolf, and also that you are pregnant. One of my brother Kol's inventions. I just changed it a bit."
