Chapter 4

After Gringotts, Hagrid took Harry to get some new clothes at Madam Malkin's Clothes for Every Occasion. The only ones he had with him were the old hand-me-downs that he was wearing.

Hagrid left Harry to be measured for his clothes stating that he had some things to do leaving him in the company of a blond boy who looked to be around Harry's age.

"Hello, I'm Harry. Are you going to Hogwarts too?"

"Yes I am. My names Draco Malfoy." the boy said primly, "What house are you hoping to be in. I'm hoping Slytherin because my family has been in there for as long as anyone can remember although I suppose Ravenclaw wouldn't be too bad. If I was in Hufflepuff I'd probably leave, wouldn't you?"

"I suppose so." replied Harry, completely lost at this point.

Draco gathered his new clothes. "I'll see you at Hogwarts then." he said before walking out the door.

Harry walked out the door of the shop with some new clothes. He was excited to wear them because he'd never had clothes that actually fit him before.

Waiting outside the shop was Hagrid who had gotten Harry's books and other items while he was being fitted with clothes.

"Thanks Hagrid! You didn't have to get all of my stuff." thanked Harry.

"Oh, it's no problem Harry. I had time to kill after I did what I needed to do. Besides it's getting late. We should probably go get your first Pokémon before the sun sets."

As the two of them walked through the city, Hagrid talked about when he met his first Pokémon.

"It was one of the best days of my life! It was actually Fang that was my first Pokémon. Well, more like my only Pokémon. I'm not allowed to catch Pokémon anymore."

"Why not?" asked Harry.

"That's a story for another time I think, what matters is that I learnt quickly that you don't always have to catch Pokémon to be friends with them. As Gatekeeper at Hogwarts, I've met a lot of Pokémon, but Fang will always be my favourite." Hagrid smiled. "Ah here we are."

They had stopped in front of a large building that had a sign out front stating it be called Ollivander's.

"Mr. Ollivander is the best breeder around." exclaimed Hagrid.

"Breeder?"

"Of Pokémon of course!" Hagrid replied before opening the door and heading inside.

Inside was a big room a desk stopping customers from getting to shelves of what looked to be rows and rows of red and white balls sitting on stands. There was a small caged pen on Harry's side of the desk that was empty at the moment.

Hagrid ran a bell that was sitting on the desk. Harry could hear shuffling as the owner, presumably Ollivander, walked through shelves over to the desk.

"Ah if it isn't Mr Potter." the old owner said, "I had a feeling I'd be seeing you soon enough. I still remember the day your parents came in here. Your mother bonded with a beautiful Goomy and your father with a majestic young Deerling. It was such a shame what happened to them. But onto you Mr Potter. We're going to find you someone aren't we."

Mr. Ollivander asked Harry to pick an aisle of shelves. After Harry picked one, the owner went down the aisle and came out with three of the balls. Pointing them towards the enclosed pen, he opened them allowing white lights to be released.

The white lights landed inside the pen revealing a dog that looked like a hyena, an owl with a green bowtie and a panda eating a green leaf. The Pokémon looked around confused. The dog decided to start pacing around the pen while the panda sat down and continued chewing on its leaf. The only Pokémon that didn't move was the owl who looked at Harry a cocked it head before flapping its wings and flying out of the pen. The owl landed on Harry's shoulder and Harry laughed as he tickled under the owl's chin.

"Well Mr. Potter, it seems young Rowlet has chosen you to be its trainer." said Mr. Ollivander, "It's not often a Pokémon chooses a trainer but when it does happen, I know I can expect great things from both of you. It is interesting however that that Rowlet's older brother chose the man who gave you that scar."

"In any case," continued Mr. Ollivander, handing over the ball that had released Rowlet, "Do you have a name that you want to give your new Rowlet?"

Harry looked at the Rowlet. The Rowlet looked at Harry.

"Hedwig." replied Harry.

"Wonderful." said Mr. Ollivander, "I look forward to seeing what you two will do together."

Harry and Hagrid entered the hotel that Harry was going to stay in until it was time to go to Hogwarts. The hotel, named the Leaky Pokeball, was located next to the train station where the Hogwarts Express, the train that Harry would take to Hogwarts, would pick up its passengers.

Hagrid left Harry with the manager, Tom, who showed Harry to his room and gave him some pointers on places that Harry should visit before he caught the train.

"You might want to cover that scar while you're here, Harry. You're a bit famous in this region." Hagrid had said cryptically before he left, leaving Harry to wonder what he meant.
