Chapter 5: Game Day in Monroeville

On the last day of Self-Care Camp, we met up at the office in Monroeville for a Game Day featuring Scrabble, Sardines, Saran Wrap Prize Ball, and Nail Polish Spin the Bottle. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. "How did the household scavenger hunt go last night?" James asked. "Oh, it went very well," Sarah replied. "How about you guys?" "I found just about everything on the list that Mrs. Ellis asked for." "So did we," I replied. "Anyway, who is ready to play some games today?" We even had fancy popcorn treats for a snack to go with our fun and games for the day. The first game that we played was Scrabble. "I cannot think of any good word to spell out," Henri stated, puzzled. "This is something that John Quincy would have made fun of when I was in that support group as a kid." The next game that we played was Sardines. "I can be the first hiding person as I am very good at surprising other people like I did when I threw a back-to-school house party once I came home from my high school ski trip," James stated. The next game that we played was Saran Wrap Prize Ball. "Remember how you were talking about surprises earlier, James?" I asked. "Yeah," James replied. "What about it?" "Well, I love Saran Wrap Prize Ball because you get lots of fun surprises like candy and lipstick and other fun stuff," I stated. "Sarah and Henri also surprised me on my birthday with a fun party at home. Maybe next year, you can surprise me with a birthday present wrapped in Saran wrap." "It's possible," Henri replied. The last game that we played was Nail Polish Spin the Bottle. "This is a fun game for us girls, huh, Sarah?" I asked. "The red, white, and blue colors especially look nice," Sarah stated. "Since James wore a blue cap and gown for his high school graduation and you wore a red cap and gown for your high school graduation, it would have been cool if it was blue and red instead of brown and gold, as in my high school's colors," I pointed out. "Oh, okay," Sarah replied. "In 2 months, it will be 15 years since I have graduated from Freeport Area High School," James reminded us. "Thanks for a great week, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "I bet that this reminds you guys of when you used to go on vacation for a week before the coronavirus outbreak hit," I told everyone. "Plus, restrictions are slowly lightening up, which means that we can do more outdoor activities around the community than we did last summer... on days when we don't have to work, of course." After Game Day was over, James and Henri drove Sarah and me back to our condominium in Squirrel Hill. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Bye, guys!" "Bye!"
