Izuku's POV
Someone was watching the beach. That was his first thoughts as he searched for parts. Every move he made he could feel eyes on him. This made him avoid the train car the best he could.
Most likely it was Eraser but he didnt want to take the chance. If the hero found out he and Kavar lived here there would be trouble. Just in case he fingered the orichalcum knife in his pocket.
A familiar disgruntled tired voice said, "Relax brat. It's just me."
Oh goodie. It was Eraserhead. Someone kill him please. He did not want to deal with the annoying but well meaning hero. There were things he had to get done before nightfall. And dodging the man's questuins was not it.
Still he plastered a fake smile on his face as he greeted, "Afternoon, sir. What brings you here?"
Be polite. Dont aggravate the hero. Be polite. Dont aggravate the hero. Be polite...
"Where's your friend today? Not sulking around the trash heaps again?"
Alright then fuck being polite. They didnt sulk after all.
"He's at school," replied Izuku coldly, "What can I do for you, sir?"
Eraser leaned back on his heels as he replied, "I was wondering if we could talk?"
Narrowing his eyes in suspicion Izuku said, "We can. If you can tell me why."
Eraser sighed, "I found your file, Izuku Midoriya. You should be in your first year middle school student. According to your file however you already graduated."
So they found his file. Great that meant they had found Kavar's file as well. It wasn't likely that they found anything worrying on Izuku's. No one cared about a quirkless kid in this time.
Kavar's file was another story however. Izuku knew that the older family members were abusive to Kavar. There had been a case opened at one point. Only for it to go nowhere.
"I really shouldn't go anywhere with a stranger," said Izuku offhandedly.
There was a quirk of the man's lips as he said, "Normally no I would not recommend going with anyone you dont know personally. However you have seen my hero license and your friend knows about me. Of course you are welcome to tell me that you'd rather not talk with me. But arent you at least be curious."
Izuku said after a moment of thought, "Sure we can talk but not here."
Eraser said after eyeing the trash heaps, "Right. Follow me there is a cat cafe nearby that I frequent."
So Izuku followed the hero. His eyes watched everything around him. Adults gave them odd looks. The ones that recognized him sneered and false whispered behind hands. Eraser to his surprise glared at them.
Turning to Izuku, he raised a questioning eyebrow. Izuku shrugged. This was something he was used to. At least they werent shoving or yelling at him. Or actively suicide baiting him. There was no way that Eraser would allow that to be let go.
The cafe was only a few minutes into the shopping districts. Only ten minutes from the beach. Izuku was surprised he didnt remember it from the original timeline. Then again it was unlikely that he would have spent much time in this area.
Shop owners tended to raise their prices for him. If he needed things he would go to the few shops that didnt mind his quirklessness. These shops tended to be in the red light district. They couldnt be picky about who they served.
Eraser held the door for him and he walked in. The cafe was bright and cheerful. A woman stood behind the bar. All around the cafe were cats of different breeds. Most of them ignored the newcomers.
The woman's brown eyes changed to a bright blue when she looked up and saw Eraser. An eye color changing quirk? He wanted to ask questions.
She greeted happily, "Eraser it's good to see you back. Who's your young friend? This isnt the usual person who comes with you."
"Just a local kid from the area," grunted Eraser.
She didnt seem to take offense to his gruff nature. If anything she seemed to be grin even brighter. How could anyone be so happy? Izuku couldn't remember ever grinning like that.
Eraser ordered them both lattes, a plate of scones, and a few muffins. Izuku wanted to argue that he couldn't pay for all that but the hero insisted. His stomach growling in hunger only solidified the hero's insistence.
A few seconds after sitting both of them had cats sitting in their laps. Izuku had all all white cat with bright blue eyes. For his part Eraser had a grey cat with white on its paws.
The food and drinks were put in front of them. Izuku dug into the blueberry muffins with surprising ferocity. Eraser sipped at his coffee quietly watching him.
After he finished the first muffin Eraser said, "Your not eating enough," it was not a question and Izuku simply shrugged, "Are you safe at home? If your not I can help you."
A snort escaped him, "I'm as safe as I can be. Besides how do you think that you can help me? You have no proof of any wrongdoing. Neither are you my father."
Dark eyes glared at him. Izuku for his part was unfazed by the glare. He had recieved a more intimidating glare from Echo. That was nothing compared to Echo, Alex, or even Gordon.
If the hero was surprised by his lack of fear he didnt show it. Instead he took another sip of his coffee. Izuku wanted to grab another muffin but he knew he shouldn't. The food could be rationed between him and Kavar.
Noticing his hesitation the dark eyes softened as Eraser said, "Go ahead have another one. I ordered them for you. You look like you could use a few good meals."
He was right about that. Izuku and Kavar were doing their best but food was hard to come by. Rationing these out would be more logical. Even if he wanted to devour it all.
Instead he asked petting the cat in his lap, "Was there anything else you wanted to ask? Because if this was it, it could have been asked at the beach."
Eraser sighed, "Are you sure you dont want to tell me anything?"
"Nope."
The barista brought him a bag for the muffins and scones. With a brief thank you to her and Eraser he left the cafe. Oddly he expected the man to try and grill him more. Maybe it would be best if he took the long way back. Pass by the old apartment in case the hero tried to follow him. Once back he would need to double check the info he received. If there was in deed a drug deal of a possible new kind of quirk enhancer he need to keep Tsukauchi and Eraser as far away from it as possible.
Tsukauchi's POV
It was official. When he finally met Delta and Kitsune he was going to strangle the vigilantes with his bare hands. The two had been giving them clues all night. Every clue went from one side of the city to the other. It was as if the two were keeping them away from something. What that could possibly was unknown to him or the heroes aiding him.
Frustration had built in the four men to the point they were visibly irritated. Even Fatgum and Ingenium were showing their frustrations. They felt the same as him he knew only they wouldnt voice it. Unlike Naomasa who was spewing a string of curses under his breath.
They were almost back at the station when Naomasa and Aizawa's phone's pinged at the same time. Both men's cursing renewed with increased vigor.
Aizawa threw his phone over his shoulder at Iida with a growled, "See what they want this time."
Iida said after a moment, "Its just a location. No clues with it."
Naomasa and Aizawa exchanged a look before the detective pressed a little harder on the gas. Iida gave him the location and they were off to it. Maybe the two would actually still be there when they arrived.
