Winter break was finally starting to come to a close. Their spring semester was right around the corner and Karkat was more than well aware of it. Ever since he started classes he had been setting up not only his schedule but also helping with Gamzee's. More as a promise to the eldest of the the Makara brother's. Kurloz seems to entrust Karkat of all fucking people with keeping an eye on the over-sized juggalo. Granted it has been this way since they were children so part of him understands the reasoning. The other half however was a bit annoyed; but for the most part Gamzee picked his classes and did a lot of it himself. It was just time management that he was awful at. Such as asking for classes that are hours apart or the same time slot, he just didn't pay enough attention.

So in picking their classes Karkat noticed that sign language was offered up and in needing to fill up his schedule to have a full class load he signed both himself and Gamzee up for it. Since Kurloz has used sign since Karkat has known him and Gamzee already knew it, it seemed almost like a blow off class for the both of them. Karkat was no where near fluent yet, however, so he can at the very least have the stoner help him with anything he didn't quite understand or with signs he couldn't remember. Karkat knew enough to communicate with Kurloz on a very basic level. Regardless he picked up on just the other basic classes for himself. English, History, Sign Language, and Speech. Very basic but Karkat was sure he would be able to get through them well enough for the semester.

What he didn't know was that Eridan was also signing up with the same college with quite a similar class line up. Granted he was a history, so he was just starting his first introduction to history same as Karkat. Not only that but he took the language class as request from his father due to close dealings with the Makara's. Mainly to keep them from communicating between each other while Eridan was doing business with them. That being said their classes lined up suspiciously well with both Karkat and Gamzee. His assumption that he would be seeing the Vantas again was completely correct.

The weeks past with little event in either parties lives. Gamzee kept his shady dealings under lock and key from the unbeknownst Karkat and Eridan kept to his own illegal activities for the past few weeks. intimidating those who opposed him, acting quite the high and mighty among his delinquent peers. While it was easy enough for the man to stay out of trouble it didn't mean that rumors about him didn't circulate about campus. The power his family held and the like. While on the other hand Gamzee's reputation had always been "the lazy stoner". He did not find as much pride in his work. At least not enough to advertise it around.

By the first day of classes Karkat was out quickly. almost too excited for this bout. He was on his way to his own dream job. granted he would prefer to become a English professor most of his classes were pretty bullshit. But he was forced to at least do one of each before getting into the English and child physiology aspect of it all. He wasn't going to limit himself to just teaching over grown children in college at least. His bag pretty much full of back breaking books for said classes. While the Vantas was easily agitated he had this sense of determination. This absolute refusal to be left behind in life. So he was a dubious student, however he never boasts about it quite like his brother had before him. He also had ultimately refused to attend classes at a Catholic school like his father and brother before him. he had no use to spend that much money on shit saturated by what he already grew up listening to day end and day out. what bullshit.

Kankri can keep his goddamn "celibacy". He was just a pissy asexual that didn't want to come to terms with his own sexuality. While Karkat wouldn't call his father openly homophobic, they were on a strict "don't ask don't tell". This already solidified Karkat's place as an outcast in his own family. He rarely went home despite living in the same town as his father and brother. While his father was the "oh bless your heart" type that speaks shit about you behind your back; Kankri will at least tolerate Karkat's existence. That was the ONLY reason he allowed them holidays.

While these bothersome thoughts were still weighing on Karkat, like an anchor around his neck. It simmered right under the surface after every holiday. Luckily he had classwork as a coping mechanism. Not that it was exactly healthy but it was productive. Those faux grey eyes scanned his first class. It was packed with people for the first day. He knew well enough that most of these seats would be empty by the middle of the semester. So Karkat settled himself in the back of lecture hall. leaned on with his arms crossed tightly over his chest. God it was too damn early. He rubbed at his eyes, he knew there were still a few moments left before the actual start of class. He was more focused in grabbing out his books and notebook from his back when he heard a thud to his left. Peering up he was met with a set of violet eyes peeing down at him. No. Fucking. Way.
