Chapter 4: Digging up the past.
After a couple of hours of going over what Ra's sent me. I search every known database for a trace of Avis, I finally found a newspaper article in German about a train crash in the Austrian Mountains and how a passenger of the train was reported missing. Four months later they found a body, down at the bottom of the hill right where the train crash took place.
There was not a lot of Information about who it was, only that the Austrian government took the body and put it in a morgue so they could try to identify it. A couple of days after the body was delivered to the morgue there was a minor break-in, but nothing was stolen. Then after five months of no identification, they were moved to London, so their fingerprints and dental records could be put into the national database.
Then I found an article in the London times about the same facility being investigated, for filling false paperwork about cadavers and not correctly entering fingerprint data that were sent to them. "So... that break in was when they made the switch." I say to the empty cave, I was once tasked to retrieve a body of a fallen member of the league, and it's not an extremely rewarding experience.
"What happened then…everything was going to their plan…who took her away? Is there a traitor in the league? Did they even make it to the closest compound? That would be in Nuremberg, Germany. I believe Ra's was still speaking to Nyssa at that time too… so what went wrong?"
I say out loud again. I keep looking at the information on the monitors and nothing is coming to my mind. "Maybe I need to go over Avis's file to see if there is a connection to Austria, Germany or even if her closest allies in the league have any connection…" As I start typing in her name, I get a flashback of that night… the night that almost changed the course of my life.
